  • Where does one purchase a Dr. Boogey kit/parts?

    Thanks

  • @drfret1

I purchase all my components from two different online stores. Mouser has a huge selection of components and has a great site that allows me to save build lists to save time or allows me to add alittle to my order as I have time, then when complete i place the order. And Pedal Parts Plus for the box and all the box parts like in, out, 9v, 3pdt . I plan on building some for a few friends who like this one when I get some free time. probably fall/winter. Many outdoor projects now.

  • @dblermann Do you have a parts list etc.? I can't seem to find one and for a non electronics major sites like Mouser can be extremely annoying :(

  • jfets are tricky. I biased a 2SK117 at 4.5v in a Tillman preamp and it still clipped.

  • @PhuckHue2 I have made one of these a year ago. It took me ages to make it sound like the original.

Triodes require more voltage to clip than jfets, that is why most of the times the result has too much gain and it doesn't sound like a real boogie.

The original tube schematic, cannot be applied 100% to JFets, because they behave differently.

You need to consult the datasheets and do some calcs to get a closer sound to the original.

  • man . you have to have your gain full?....mines heavy at 10 oclock...masses of gain..did u change pot or something?..

  • @100roberthenry my single coil strat is kinda gain challenged. I keep them down low away from the strings for pick clearance and in favor of a better clean sound.

  • I just biased it by ear, and it took less time than using the multimeter. Just crank the jfets until they sound good to your ears, all the while playing with the pedal's knobs so you know it sounds perfect when you put the back on. No problem.

  • ya I used all the specified valuesin the electrictabs version. all seem to have usable sweep/range, except the presence control. I cant hear much effect from it. O.K. for me though as when I have tried amps with presence i usually have it zeroed.

  • one question tho!...what are the value of the pots ya using....ive tried the ones for the gauss version and they seem a bit off..to weak or too strong..?

  • @100roberthenry hi its not DR. Boogie its Boogeyman thing i think theyre different

  • waheyyy same layout as mine.....copycat ha ha............they are great tho!....

  • dangit, I don't have a multimeter

  • nice!
