So what's the review on the HD28? Talk to me. I just actually bought this guitar, and to me it seems to play with too much resonance. In other words, it's too messy/busy when I do some hard strumming. I'm wondering if a different saddle or strings might help the situation.

@peterpulpitpounder Try changing strings, ( I like Elixir Phosphor Bronze lights ) but also understand that your HD28 will change over time. Mine has gotten MUCH MUCH MUCH better over the years. I used to feel the same way about mine, but I pushed through and I couldn't live without out it now.

Hey, thanks for the nice reply. I have tried a bunch of different strings, but the thing that I find annoying is how "busy" chords sound. Perhaps I need to allow the strings to settle down a bit. So, your HD28 has gotten much better over the years? How so, if I might ask. Thanks.

I'm a beginner guitar player and was recently reviewing the Baby Taylor and the Little Martin..not only to use for traveling but I'm a petite girl so I've read that both of these guitars are gr8t to begin off of with smaller people. I noticed in your video that you reviewed the Baby Taylor to be a good one, but I also reviewed from other websites that they tend to have intonation issues and also on the Martin some people say its not a good "finger picking" guitar. Which one would u choose?

Not to be nitpicky, but that should be ebony fretboard and bridge, not rosewood, and the back and sides should be east indian rosewood, not brazilian, unless you got a custom or paid a ton! :)

I love seagull guitars! Just had to butt in and say that.

The best way to explain them is that on average they sound "sparkly", like you sent a Martin through an EQ pedal and lowered the bass and upped the mids a tiny bit. Martins are known for their "boomyness", Seagulls sound like there's a little sound engineer with a tiny studio inside your guitar mixing everything before it leaves the soundhole.

I probably sound like I'm on crack, but if you play some in a store you'll see what I mean haha

thanks for the input man! we actually dont have a guitar shop around my area that carries seagulls, so my only option is to buy one online before i play it (which im a little nervous about).. i keep looking around the net for someone saying something negative about them, but so far i havent seen a single person with anything bad to say, so i think im goin for it =D

could you do a review of the guild acoustic guitar from around the 1940's? (my dads guitar, but thats all i know about it in terms of model and make and things) and yes, i know it will be almost impossible to find, but what do you think of most guild guitars in general?

New Guild guitars are good, not great, but very good. I had a songbird a long time ago which I liked a lot. If you have one from the 1940's then you sir have a GREAT guitar no doubt about it. I would recommend taking it to a good luthier to set it up, after that there should be no doubt in your mind that the guitar is VERY special.

What kind of music do you play?

I began playing guitar a year and a half ago, so my style might change but at the moment i play Stuff by paul gilbert, and Im really interested in things by buckethead.

Ibanez typically makes very nice instruments for the money. I will say that my style is more on the rock & roll side of things so I'm not really expert on what makes a good "metal" guitar.

But, I'm sure you would be happy with an Ibanez, they make good stuff.

The only thing I would warn you about that guitar is the Floyd Rose bridge. Those can be more trouble than they are worth. However if you plan on using the whammy bar a lot, it's the bridge thing to have.  They're just high maintenance.

Lewin has great taste in instruments. I have played all of his guitars/mandos at one time or an other but, his HD-28 is special. It just may be the best sounding guitar I've ever heard. I'd give my left one for it. Lewin, the next time you update you will please know I would give it a good home, I'd love it like my own.
