I'm probably going to get spammed for this, but I borrowed all 4 dvds from my little cousin and absolutely loved it. I thought it explained a lot more of the story than the three films (in my opinion). I especially got chills from the character "Mr. Blank", who I thought played the part really well. (Seriously, that guy looks soooo creepy!). LOL. Anyway, that's my opinion, like it or lump it. But I'd definitely watch it all over again! =D

I agree that this series was a poor adaptation, but you shouldn't make too many comparisons to the 80's movie. Remember, this is based on the ORIGINAL GERMAN BOOK by Michael Ende, just like the 1984 movie was. They are two very seperate things.

This series is missing the "epic" feeling in the 80's movie. This scene there... was heartbreaking. Here, it's just "meh, so the horsey died, what do you know..." Also, the directing was superior. For example, at 1:17 when the image fades to Bastian's face... that's pretty lame.

And actually, I still like the effects in the first film. Unlike today's fuzzy-puffy 3D stuff, creatures from that period seemed somehow more "palpable". I can only imagine a Hollywood 2009 version of Falkor! Bleh.

I'm sorry, but nothing beats the 1983 version with Noah Hathaway. There was much better acting, even if the special effects were nothing to write home about. Noah showed so much more emotion during Artax's death than this guy does. He was screaming at the top of his lungs, and Bastian was sobbing along with him while reading it. I don't usually say this about anything, but this scene here was...lame.

I can't believe this "Tales" bull shit is rated higher then The Neverending Stories two and three on imdb. Those movies to me were still good. At least they brought mythical creatures back and introduced new interesting charactars.. The Tales should be called "The Curse of an hour and a half Canadian version of the Neverending Story"

but i can't find the three movies 1 2 3 i had all 3 on video that was ten years ago and know watching them on here it gave me more inspiration to write like it

And yes, the Neverending Story 1, 2, and 3 are released on DVD, more then likely you can find the WB double feature of the first two at Wal Mart for 7 or 8 bucks. And you can get 3 cheap off of ebay, but I however don't reccomend you get any "Tales from" Dvd's, they are crappy spin offs of the genious of the first 3 movies.

Yea it is not a remake movie, it was from the 2001 tv live action series which i believe only last one season. When i heard this show was going to happen i so wanted to see it. it the network it was airing for the states hallmark my cable company didnt have it as part of it lineup at the time. So i never was able to see the show. I so wish i could see soem full episodes from it.

It would have been hard for Michael Ende to give authorization for this series, seing that he died some 12 years ago. But yeah it would be great to have a, let's not even say faithful but DECENT adaptation of the books, not this awfulness that they have subjected us since NES II.
