I know you joke, but I believe you have hit on the frequencies at least. In your dishwasher spring, you hear two frequencies: one low and one high. The point where the spring makes contact creates the high frequency, while the oscillating spring makes the low Hz. What I'm hearing from this type odd sounds is two opposite frequencies. One ultra high and one ultra low. My analogy is a large steel plate being dragged on concrete on edge; contact screech is high, while metal vibration is low.
