Eight Belles. I loved that racemare. I never met her.I never had the chance.I know people who have,though.she was sweet,but her heart belonged to the track,she loved it. I watched that faithful Derby Day.She was practically forgotten b/c of Barbaro.It didn't matter that she had broken her front fetlocks,Barbaro had won the Derby,then broke down in the Preakness,Oh No Barbaro broke down! Eight Belles was forgotten,her injuries nothing because she was a filly.That turned me off racing for a while.

I think horse racing is cruel. Some of them are treated like trash. The horses deserve to be free.
