  • Wow, Gordon Waller's voice actually got BETTER as he got older, so deep & rich. RIP, & thank you for everything.

  • Oh Dear God.....not Paul Schaffer again. I am so sick of seeing this little clown in every goddam music event. Who the fuck CONDUCTS a rock and roll band?

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE

What incredible ignorance! Paul organized the affarir to raise money for the late Mike SMith, the wailin' voice behind the DC5, tragically paralyzed in an accident and in need of funds to get mobile and out of a skilled nursing facility and home. Paul is a PASSIONATE fan and did this arduous task from Love. I have met him and he is the real deal.

  • G-d Bless Paul's heart, yes...He organized this benefit for the late Mike Smith of the DC5.

  • is that Paul Shaffer there?

  • so much feeling.........great

  • Sad how that (doesn't ) happen. As an atty, maybe you have a better idea of how that could be....maybe problems with getting people's, what...'people' (?) to give permission for the performances ? Never happened. If I ever get to meet Paul Shaffer again I must ask.

  • I was lucky enough to be at that concert. I was always hoping that the concert would be realeased on video with proceeds to Mike Smith's family, but so far, no such luck. I got to speak with Peter and Gordon afterwards and it was truly a thrill. Sometimes it is actually good to live in NYC and be in the center of the world.

  • Really Grate

  • Bons tempos!

  • mike smith died a few yrs ago and gordon waller died recently rip

  • Yes British invasion . Today can t not

  • It is so nice to see Gibson guitars and Vox amps in this Video.Reminds me of the British Invasion.

  • yep... my 335 and vox berkley are still my faves

  • I met Gordon that night (Peter too). And yes, Mike was the "voice" of DC 5 !

  • It should have been the Mike Smith 5.!

They're singing very nicely! Shame Gordon died earlier this year.

  • always remembered with love

  • Well said ... Wishing comfort for his loved ones.

  • No matter how or what ,you brought nothing only pleasure the both of you.

  • was he an abuser to drinking???

  • Gordon drank more than moderately and I believe it contributed to his death.

  • Ironic, I'm a certified addictions nurse and should know from the inside out that people choose how they want to live, but this makes me very, very sad...for him, his wife,,,for us, and ESPECIALLY for Peter ! When Gordon sang " Throughout the days." with that dramatic pause, the lighting or resolution did not allow the camers to capture it, but Peter smiled at him with such intense and spontaneous appreciation and love. Heartbroken. Praying for Peter as well. Rest In peace indeed Gordon.

  • openingstar---not sure what you are attempting to say with the post---

  • RIP Gordon

  • True love ways was one of the last songs composed by Buddy Holly.

  • Awesome, thanks for posting this.

  • The Very One !!!! ;)

I understand there will be no video release. G-d only knows what kind of business concerns intervened to muck it all up.

If anyone finds it is to be released...Please write me.

  • 0:19 is that Paul Scaeffer?

  • Yes it is.

  • Didn't mean to leave out Peter and Gordon on

their fantastic performance at the Mike Smith

Tribute. They STILL sound great together. Thanks so much for posting these. I missed the show when it first aired.

  • Thank you for your comments and for remembering the family of Denny Payton. He was a quiet and soft spokenn gentleman as well. It was so very poignant lookig at his sons' beautiful faces at the Induction ceremony for the R 'n R Hall of fame. Their eyes were moist . I could see their father in them...one son ib particular. O wonder in any of them also play instrutments.

I look forward to the DVD release of this tribute show.

  • You're most welcome. Denny's sons look JUST like him. For people who want a taste of his playing, listen to Reelin and Rockin. Denny could HONK with the best of them. I hope Denny's sons know the love we have for their Dad. I know it's been 44 years since the DC5 were huge, but after seeing these great clips on YouTube, it's like it was only YESTERDAY!

All the British bands were really good and all

    had their own distinctive sounds.

  • My pleasure to share this beautiful performance. Sorry the contrast isn't better. peter smiled with great affection at Gordon when he sang the deep bass " Throughout the days...."Couldn't believe my little Canon Sureshot got the sound quality it did.

  • I hope Mike Smith's wife reads all the wonderful and sincere comments and outpouring of love we all had for Mike. Thanks to Peter and Gordon, Billy J. Kramer,Denny Laine, and

the Zombies for giving of their talents. And

Paul Shaffer for putting it together. These guys are the BEST people in the world. God Bless you all. Love to Dave Clark, Lenny and Rick as well. AND to the family of Denny Payton. Their music will live FOREVER.

  • O F*********** I didn't know. I just wrote his friend Rob who runs his website a few wks ago saying I hoped he wasn't suffering an complications from the immobility.

i AM IN TEARS. hE WAS A lovely, LOVELY HUMAN BEING...WHOSE SWEETNESS AND KINDNESS I was so taken with when I met him in '65. Poor Charlie (his wife)

    i AM IN TEARS.

G-d..I pray his widow finds comfort, What Grace and Courage he displayed. What a lovely IMMENSE talent silenced.

    Devastated.

  • So sad to hear Mike Smith has just died, 2 weeks before he was due to attend Hall of Fame induction

  • Yes...they really sounded amazing and sweet and clear after all these years. I really feel blessed to have been there and only wish the DVD would be released to get some more money to purchase a van for Mike and to share the great performances...and the feelings this event evoked with others.

  • Very touching. Thank you for uploading this.

  • You are most welcome...It is truly my pleasure. I only wish the DVD of this benefit for Mike would be released already !!! Feel blessed to have been in the audience that night.

  • I'd love to buy the dvd if it is ever released. And it would help out Mike I would believe. Wish I could have seen him when he toured back in 2003 prior to his mishap. My prayers go out to Mike.

  • Thanks a lot for sharing this historic video, I,m a fan of good old rock and roll and British Invasion classics.

I,m 37 years living in Mexico and had the chance to get a reply for an e mail I sent to Mike months ago, wishing him a soon recovery.

Love the DC5, got all their music. So let,s wish him the best. If the dvd is released please let me know.

    Thanks again.

  • Thank you for sharing that you heard from Mike....REALLY special ...but he was always very down to earth and kind and generous to his fans. Will Lee responded to my inquiry and said it was still in post production.....and that Mike was a bit improved. That was about 6 wks ago. All best wishes! Bonnie
