Reverend Ainsworth wants to help children grow up with a way to deal with stuff in life that makes no sense by stuffing their heads with stuff that makes no sense!
Now is this not racism? Muslim Schools ONLY for Muslims and their own "Race" .. and Christians and their own "Race" ... what about that? Its staring us in the face!!
Christianity is comparitively benign ... look that that fuckin idiot who doesnt deserve to lick the feet of Dawkins, say that "Evolution is a small and insignificant thing" to the World Famous Dr. Richard Dawkins!! ...
@macnos A Mystic is someone who has direct experience, or claims to have direct experience of divine, a person who has been trained in the secret knowledge of the mystery schools, or someone who thinks beyound normal human preception. To describe it in terms for every student I would say a Mystic is someone who is in a state of higher conscience. I use the label mystic to describe myself but am not limited to it. A christian mystic is someone with these qualities that was formally a Xtian
@macnos In a life that is always changing, and I am always learning, I am always changing my labels to refelct my journey, but I have been limited to labels now, and I feel we are moving beyound singular labels describing people's life, their beleifs. I am one of many who knows the mother and the father and am called a child of a whore. : )
"those who know the mother and the father will be called the child of a whore" Jesus Christ
Christ, that so called 'science teacher' should have been reported for that. Whether she believed it or not, she should have the basic knowledge to answer that question. That is bullshit, I feel sorry for those kids.
@ryandrums1001 i have respect for a lot of atheists. In fact many of them are my friends, and i dont go around mocking their disbelief, like how Dawkins mocks peoples beliefs. But either way i wouldn't care. If an atheist mocks my belief, i just yawn it off, cause it doesn't really matter. If someones really rattled when what they believe in gets mocked, then i think that that shows a weakness in their faith...
I was raised in a Christian home, went to a Christian school and was taught that evolution was false all my life and that the earth was 6,000 years old. I am now 27, but it wasn't until I was 22 that I started breaking free of the shackles of ignorance. I am now more or less an atheist, and a microbiologist. If I had been exposed to Dawkins earlier in my life, I would like to imagine I would have been in love with biology at a much younger age.
@fetuspunk you dont have to reject religion to think evolution is true. Im a faithful baptist, but i think that evolution is a solid fact and that the earth is 4.54 billion years old. And yes there are atheists like Dawkins who are good at the field of science that they research, but there are also religious scientists as well. Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project and Kenneth Miller are two primary examples....
Ok but the bible says that it was adam and eve and no evolution and that the earth is 5-6 thousand years old. Now the bible, from what I hear,,is the "word of god" so if the bible is incorrect therefore god is incorrect. If god is infallible but wrong in the bible then god must not be true and makes logical sense that god does not exist. We mock religion because in the face of logic and reason it still professes to be true. Which in my opinion is just plain STUPID.
@chriscat83 The bible does not say the earth is 6 thousand years old. In fact the Bible does not give an age for the universe because the bible does not deal with a scientific explanation of how the universe began, just a theological one. The Bible does not say no to evolution and yes to Adam and eve, cause that's not the angle that the bible is looking at things. I think its stupid to say something comes from nothing, which is what atheists claim even though they dont admit it.....
@chriscat83 so thinking that science explains one thing and religion another is blocking of my brain. I think its many atheists that are being narrow minded, because they thing the only way to understand things in life is through a naturalistic world view and nothing more. That seems pretty narrow minded. The fact is that science and religion can be complementary cause science explains the how, religion answers questions of why
@chriscat83 An example of this is with the Big Bang theory. Initially people believe in the steady state eternal universe model. But George Lemaitre, using Einsteins theory of relativity deduced that the Universe had a beginning, a claim religion has been making for thousands of years, and the fact that he was a Roman Catholic priest meant his world view had a some part to play in that
3:16 an atheist among children :O he's gonna eat them !!!!!!! lol.......gotta love richard ;D great documentary, and i know what indoctrination is, i went to a bloody catholic school......hours of boredom indeed, mainly in religion class hahaha listening to all that bullshit
The children of Tennessee are going to be thinking just like these girls now that they are putting ID into the schools and having them "choose" which one to hold as a fact.... breaks my heart.
@TheJuliusJT He said: we humans are also a kind of ape. We humans and the chimpanzee (who are most related to us genetically) share a common ancestor, a species that lived millions years ago.
@TheJuliusJT The question is a good one, with a pretty clear answer. Current species of non-human apes are our species' cousins, not ancestors. Just as both you and your human cousins descended from a now-dead great-grandparent, so it is with humans and chimps on a much grander scale
Dawkins is an awesome guy!! To sit in the midst of half-brained "science" teachers and still keep a straight face and not throw up, it takes a lot of strength.
The part with Rev. Ainsworth made me wonder. How is the leap of faith to religion going to help answer questions later that I know nothing about as an adult? Our world today is based on evidence and reason and faith is belief without evidence.
She teaches the theory of evolution and all of the student all of them come to the same conclusion, which is in complete contrast with evolution.Wow.I 'think' so the meaning of the word 'Think' should be modified in the dictionary.
Religious schools form a cult of belief. In Christian schools, nonbelievers are socially ostracized and discriminated against. In Muslim faiths, more overt and aggressive methods are sometimes taken, and the intimidation through precedence is there.
Either way, the cult mentality makes a strong impact on a child's mind.
I know that I was intellectually freed when I left the religious institutions.
I'm not so much worried about church schools, since they do not condition pupils to reject evolution as a scientific, evidence-based explanation for humanity's origins and to prefer the claims of a 7th century religious work . They seem to think that the koran is a science manual. And their teacher doesn't even understand the subject she's supposed to teach. This is brainwashing not education and is a scandalous misuse of public funds.
The irony of listening to the teachers at the Muslim school talk about how each student has their own opinion and they should make up their own minds, is that this tactic is EXACTLY the same being currently used by creationists in the US as they try and do end runs around the process by going directly the legislatures and talking about "teaching the controversy." Funny what strange bedfellows faith makes...
the whole problem with people not understanding the "we did not descend from chimps; we and chimps share a common ancestor" idea, is, to me, mostly to do with failing to grasp the immensity of geologic time. you have to demonstrate to these people how fundamentally infinitesimal our whole recorded history is when placed next to the time elapsed since the K-Pg extinction, for example.
wow that dumb muslim teacher shouldnt be allowed anywhere near a science classroom. im not having a go at muslims or islam, just the ignorance of that particular teacher
The part with the science teacher is so depressing it makes me want to weep. I admire RD's patience so much in these situations. It's a wonder he doesn't lose his temper with these narrow-minded,naive and misguided people. I wish the movement for scientific fact over religious misinformation would gather more momentum.
I don't care for the teacher, it's the children I feel sorry for. what you see here is a process of surgically removing intelligence and critical thinking out of a child...
I understand where they're coming from, somehow. It's like they will teach both ideas, only to say that because of their religion they are suggested to believe one over the other.
@TVOham because we didn't come form monkeys , monkeys and humans came from the same place ,just becaus your to stupid to answer the question doesn't mean we are.
2nd of all, you're right in the sense that Humans and Monkeys share an ape ancestor.
3rd of all, if you ment that we all came from the magic zombie jew in the sky who has answered a total of 0 prayers, condemns all who don't believe in him, causes plauges and mass destruction, then you're just ignorant :) Evidence=win Creation=no evidence=no win.
@TVOham no ,Are you? because my point was against religion i was agreeing with Darwinian theory and the common misconception of that it states we evolved from monkeys it states monkeys and humans share a common ancestor etc, i think i was about unclear with my statement however i meant that the creationist are to stupid to answer it so they say thats its not true
@TVOham Hehe. At first, I was a bit happy when I heard the "Why are there still monkeys?" question. I thought "Good, she's still curious, and thinks for herself". But that's maybe being too optimistic. A more pessimistic/realistic explanation is probably that that is how the teacher ended their biology course ("Why are there still monkeys? No need to answer. Islam tells us everything. The end.") and she's just repeating, brainwashed. :-( But who knows.
You need to reach out to these idiots? I think the main point here is that you can't. They don't care about their children or reality, they care about some strange thing that isn't there for them anymore, certainty. In the last 50 years the world of science has leaped so much, they can't take it anymore, they'd rather be like their hunter-gatherer ancestors over 10000 years ago, believing the world is only 6000 years old. Sorry, it's not that easy anymore.
2:36 I wonder how many boys from those classes will grow up to have weird fetishes about women dressed in black, with that catholic thing at the neck. I know I would :))
@KLSeba That's very sad :( . How old are you? I've only told two people so far about my atheism. Both have been very accepting. One is a family member (not my parents), and a friendly co-worker.
38... I witness my mother wasting her life away with a man who did nothing but abuse her. Not physically but mentally. And she did that for the sake of faith, as divorce is frown upon by church and a sin. And even tho she is in her mid 60s, she still live with the same man, hoping better things will come after this life.
I share my thoughts on that, and some of Dawkins view on religion. We don't communicate since.
@KLSeba I would say keep the door open for a positive relationship to resume, but enjoy the rest of what's still in your life even if she doesn't. Personally, I think she needs to see a form "theistic psychologist". Maybe that would help her.
@KLSeba I would just remember what your mother failed to realize. You cannot control other people, but you can make sure they don't control you. She has made a poor choice but you can make sure that you don't let that destroy your life as well. Someday you can be known amongst your descendants as the first one in your family to cast off this barbarism.
" first one in your family to cast off this barbarism."
I already started the chain. My son is first generation of pure none believer. It's amazing to see how kid grows and look at religion when not being indoctrinated.
One time I took him to church, just so he knows how it all looks like. He was 11 years old, looking at the screen, reading lyrics to Barney like love song... he reads, turns to me and say "wtf dad?"
It was also his first time using the F word. I was very proud :)
I think we all should think positive and notice the fact that creationists are actually willing to listen to evolutionists. I am an Ex-Muslim myself, and in Pakistan (where I'm from), even the littlest doubt on God's existence is frowned upon.
I liked the priest who was like "Who HAVE to get them while they are young. They will rightfully disregard our dogmas as rubbish if we approach them later in life!"
Kids are so cute, easily entertain-able and dumb but it fine cause they're kids. We really shouldn't be shoving this religion stuff into their soft heads. Its basically brainwashing on a planetary scale.
Right because that is what education is....just leaving the choice to students. They can just choose whatever they want to be the right answer and that is the right answer. What a joke. That "science" teacher should loose her license to teach to start with.
If I fuck up my studies and completely flunk on my education I dont have to worry, I'll just become a science teacher in a muslim school where I'll get paid despite knowing nothing.
The muslim teacher who teach science can't even a simple scientific question? What the hell.

@truthseeker010101 What the hell is a "mystic Christian"? You seem more like an atheist than anything else.
macnos 4 months ago
@macnos A Mystic is someone who has direct experience, or claims to have direct experience of divine, a person who has been trained in the secret knowledge of the mystery schools, or someone who thinks beyound normal human preception. To describe it in terms for every student I would say a Mystic is someone who is in a state of higher conscience. I use the label mystic to describe myself but am not limited to it. A christian mystic is someone with these qualities that was formally a Xtian
truthseeker010101 4 months ago
@macnos In a life that is always changing, and I am always learning, I am always changing my labels to refelct my journey, but I have been limited to labels now, and I feel we are moving beyound singular labels describing people's life, their beleifs. What faith based person has so much respect for their opposition as Richard Dawkins does for religion?
ryandrums1001 8 months ago

If I had been exposed to Dawkins earlier in my life, I would like to imagine I would have been in love with biology at a much younger age.
fetuspunk 8 months ago
@fetuspunk you dont have to reject religion to think evolution is true. Im a faithful baptist, but i think that evolution is a solid fact and that the earth is 4.54 billion years old. And yes there are atheists like Dawkins who are good at the field of science that they research, but there are also religious scientists as well. Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project and Kenneth Miller are two primary examples....
jamaicanification 8 months ago
@jamaicanification
Which in my opinion is just plain STUPID.
chriscat83 8 months ago
@chriscat83 The bible does not say the earth is 6 thousand years old. In fact the Bible does not give an age for the universe because the bible does not deal with a scientific explanation of how the universe began, just a theological one. The Bible does not say no to evolution and yes to Adam and eve, cause that's not the angle that the bible is looking at things. I think its stupid to say something comes from nothing, which is what atheists claim even though they dont admit it.....
jamaicanification 7 months ago
@jamaicanification
Why do you block off this one part of your brain on religion but believe in so much that science has done?
chriscat83 8 months ago
@chriscat83 so thinking that science explains one thing and religion another is blocking of my brain. I think its many atheists that are being narrow minded, because they thing the only way to understand things in life is through a naturalistic world view and nothing more. That seems pretty narrow minded. The fact is that science and religion can be complementary cause science explains the how, religion answers questions of why
jamaicanification 7 months ago
@chriscat83 An example of this is with the Big Bang theory. Initially people believe in the steady state eternal universe model. But George Lemaitre, using Einsteins theory of relativity deduced that the Universe had a beginning, a claim religion has been making for thousands of years, and the fact that he was a Roman Catholic priest meant his world view had a some part to play in that

TheJuliusJT 9 months ago
@TheJuliusJT The question is a good one, with a pretty clear answer. Current species of non-human apes are our species' cousins, not ancestors. Just as both you and your human cousins descended from a now-dead great-grandparent, so it is with humans and chimps on a much grander scale

DrZenith 10 months ago
