He was a good singer and very popular, but definitely wasn't deserving of being called "The King" in that sense. A lot, and I do mean a LOT of people can sing better than he did, and they don't get that title. So, I'll give him his respect as a singer and that he did a lot for the music world. I will not call him "The King", however. He was a Gospel singer in part, but obviously one who didn't always follow the "grace" that he sung about, thus the path of life and how he died - overdose.
