Short and sweet. Love the Everlys; timeless music. They and the Bryants are often overlooked, I think, when we praise Chuck Berry (deservedly so) for his iconic lyrics. But Boudleaux, Felice and the bros. captured teenage angst and excitement equally well. Counting each as act as one, that leaves only Lieber-Stoller (esp. their Coasters records) to complete the Holy Trinity of Rock lyric writers. I believe this Trio belongs in an elite Pantheon. Oddly L-S's songs for Elvis are more generic.
@Richard40171 (Cont'd) Should be: "Counting each act as one," etc. Ref. To Lieber-Stoller's Elvis songs: they're great RECORDS; but their lyrics are just not as piquant and insightful as those for the Coasters, mostly romantic or contemporary clichEs ("Lovin' You," for example; even "Jailhouse Rock," wonderful as it is, doesn't capture the "sociology" of teenage life the way the Bryants did, Chuck did, or Lieber-Stoller with The Coasters ("Yakety Yak" is a masterpiece, for example).
The opening to my screen adaptation of "The Catcher in the Rye." Thats if J.D. Salinger gives up the rights before he dies. Ive seen other tributes to the book on film and they are junk. Mine would be true, right and dramatic. Also in the soundtrack, "Fake Empire" by The National. Look it up.
Wow brings back memories of '88, missed this thanks for posting!

Can someone please tell me who plays pedal steel on this track? The steel licks on this one have always been my favorite
