some days after Waterloo Wellington repond on the quostion "who was the best general of the day", He said today, in the past, of all ages Napoleon Bonaparte
@InsertDelicious Wellington wasn't better he had an defence position at waterlo an more men under his command then napoleon at waterlo and without the prussians your victory wasnt shure
@expertstrategy Napoleon had 10 000 men more under his command but he couldn't use it all against Wellington, He send 35 000 soldiers after the retreating prussian army ( the prussians who will join Wellington with 48 000 soldiers, see the battle of Ligny)
ps: Napoleons army was superioeur in number against the allied army ORE the prussian army, its was hes plane to attack the prussians and allies seperatly before they could combine their forces
@InsertDelicious "Yeah Napoleon was a great commander, but Wellington was better." I'm afraid historians wouldn't agree with you, and neither would 99.9% of the world including me. Wellington won the battle only because of luck. Wellington was on the verge of losing the battle until the lucky timing of the Prussians saved him from certain defeat.
@InsertDelicious Wellington was better ? he only achieved a wounded beast, that many officers before him weakened, like Koutouzov, Blucher, Schwarzenberg...
@InsertDelicious ... wellington had the advantage at waterloo besides one battle does not determin who is the better general.. I believe Bonaparte proved himself to be the best general (of his time at least)
@generaltodd2 im blaming his generals one of his general recieved 35 000 soldiers to crashed the prussians and then rejoin Napoleon but he didnt and an other general who has masacred Napoleon's cavalry
@InsertDelicious If Wellington himself recognizes Napoleon as a greater commander than himself, than there is no need of arguing. Napoleon was the Greater one. Only an idiot could say otherwise. Only in Italy Napoleon won 62 battles in one year, and lost non. "Today, in the past, of all ages Napoleon Bonaparte" - Wellington.
Napoleon, a great liberator... Unfortunatly have the british spread false propaganda about him. He was NOT short... He was over the average male of that time!
In addition the british paid Prussia, Austria, Russia etc to attack france and Napoleon... THEY declared war... Napoleon wanted peace!

He lost. Accept it, even though he was a fine general indeed

@InsertDelicious I remember when I read a comment who said: "Alexander was better because he was undefeated"
I replied: " yes but Napoleon fought 10 years more"
now you say : "Wellington was better because he was undefeated"
and I reply: "yes but Napoleon won more battles"

@InsertDelicious Napoleon wasnt really to blame for his defeat at Waterloo considering he was ill that day and asleep for almost 2/3 of the battle.

@InsertDelicious Wellington after waterloo: "Fascinated by the memory of the Emperor, he spent long hours sitting at his table, silent"
Napoleon unleashed hatred and admiration....
