This is classic ignorance and medieval mentality. The man knows nothing, refuses to learn anything, and then throws out beliefs about the universe which happen to be psychologically satisfying to him. Or, that the show at least let's them know they are not alone. Biological evolution is the change in allele frequencies within a population over time. We have observed this in multiple instances. If you are seriously looking for multiple independent evidences of the fact of evolution, please check out the 280,000 peer-reviewed articles on pubmed about this topic.
It's really ridiculous that she won't admit that there is monumental evidence of Design and where there is Design, there is a Designer. It is a mathematical impossibility that life could have arisen randomly and even hundreds of scientists are not satisfied with Darwinian evolution, and have gone on official record stating so. There is a "missing mechanism" that inputs information into each and every cell, and science has no valid explanation of what it is. Christians believe it is God.

The host is making a very crucial mistake. She says intelligent design is a "hypothesis" when actualy it's much less than that, it's only a believe. That would be the same as saying that "religion is an hypothesis". Religion and ID don't reach the level of hypothesis because they are not base on logical thinking but in religious thinking

Or, that the show at least let's them know they are not alone. God (for some reason or another) decided to send his only son to die for our sins so we would no longer have to sacrifice animals or need a priest as a go-between... @pianoboypiano Deist ideas are the only valid god views. Any god view that comes with a book demands the suspension of your judgement making you an easy tool of evil men. You will do god's work regardless of how evil it is as you refuse to judge good from evil.
Thats how jews got pushed into gas chambers, the boss said do it, and so it was done. Judge or you cannot be moral, you will just be a handpuppet of some other being and your morality will depend on their goodwill.

@TheOptimistPrime hey, if these beliefs were not affecting other people, people that did not share the faith, it would be fine. but the fact is that christians and other theists around the worlds take it upon themselves to alter other people's lives according to their beliefs. and if someone is going to do that, they better have A DAMN GOOD REASON. and that is what the show is trying to establish. you will notice that the show never ridicules people for beliving in the tooth fairy or big foot.

What they needed to mention to the caller is that evolution is a FACT, and that the Theory is the drawn-out explanation that just shows how it's happened.

The only opposition is from fundamentalist religiots who want their fairy tales taught in schools as fact, in an effort to retard children and the progress of humanity as a whole. @UnderlordZ No debate... hmm this video says other wise. Can you send me a link that says and proves Evolution is fact? I don't think so. There are other reasons besides "fairy tales" to explain it also. Quit being so arrogant for a minute and actually consider for a second that evolution has flaws. The video mentioned them, and till this day they are not addressed. Is it logical or rational to believe Evolution with unexplained theoretical holes, same as religion you hate?

Change-over-time-in-accomodation-to-ever-changing-environments has been observed in both the fossil record and genetics. That is evolution. It is a fact.
Holes in the record do not equivocate to holes in the overall thesis: qualities of large groups of organisms change over vast spans of time, causing diversity known as speciation.

If you study genetics or even had a simple college biology class you would know this. Even professionals admit that Evolution has problems and do not agree with it. I don't need one bias website. I have google. Many credible sources are better than 1 source. It is not fact stated nor reality. By your own rules, the entire Bible is fact.

Name ONE credible authentic biologist who doesn't "agree with" the SCIENTIFIC theory of evolution (which, as has been discussed before, is DIFFERENT than a theory about why your car won't start). If you don't want to look at a genuine site about evolution, go to Wikipedia and look up "Evolution as fact and theory". Read a biology book, for crap's sake!

Biological evolution is the change in allele frequencies within a population over time. We have observed this in multiple instances. If you are seriously looking for multiple independent evidences of the fact of evolution, please check out the 280,000 peer-reviewed articles on pubmed about this topic.

It's really ridiculous that she won't admit that there is monumental evidence of Design and where there is Design, there is a Designer. It is a mathematical impossibility that life could have arisen randomly and even hundreds of scientists are not satisfied with Darwinian evolution, and have gone on official record stating so. There is a "missing mechanism" that inputs information into each and every cell, and science has no valid explanation of what it is. Christians believe it is God.

@ACloserFriend Please share your evidence of design. Also, mathematics does not state that it is impossible for life to have arisen at random. The Miller-Urey experiment showed that life can come from non-life given the right conditions that are not improbable on early Earth.
My other points are: Abiogenesis and Darwinian Evolution are not the same thing; Dembski, Behe and Kenyon et al are not hundreds of scientists; your final point is a logical fallacy of argumentum ad ignorantiam.

@TheOptimistPrime Even if god were real, which we can pretty much establish that the probability of that is next to zero, he would never show himself on American Idle. He likes revealing himself in less obvious ways, such as burning bushes and the gaps and limits of our knowledge. If we can't explain it, he is right there, willing to step right in. Plus Simon would hurt his feelings.

@TheOptimistPrime The difference being, the hosts would change their opinions and beliefs if the callers provided good evidence to support their claims. I've not yet seen a believer call in and acknowledge that they might be wrong in response to very clear arguments from the hosts*. All you ever get from the believers are simplistic arguments such as "look at the tree's" or "look in the book"!
*I apologise to the ex-Christians who have actually de-converted, I was speaking in general terms.
