Brown Recluses have a limited range, they don't live "throughout the US," just fyi. :-) They are restricted to the southeast, basically.  Rick Vetter's website at UCR has a range map, but I wasn't able to add a url here for some reason.

I saw a brown recluse for the first time today under a piece of wood while lighting fire crackers...i saw 2 actualy... i was scared and pissed my pants.
