Sam Harris on the view of women in two cultures

what a weird last point to make that the "right" way to look at women maybe would be somewhere inbetween those two? its not like western women are ridiculously liberated and have too much power and _thats_ why theyre in underwear on magazines. its because we have a hangover of objectifying women surely.

@frilansspion I didn't take it as liberation, I took it as there is the covering up of a woman's body (encouraged by men in one society) and the removal of as much clothing as possible (in another society), and he was saying these are extremes.

Objectification is an issue, whether it be seeing women as an object to be covered or an object to be exposed, both views come from a male perspective that encourages objectification of women.

@emailbenbenson yeah but wouldnt a point on the scale inbetween still be objectification then? thats what I meant, its a weird way to put it. Im sure he actually means what youre saying though of course.
