just imagine if he would have kept that car on the ground? he would have had time to slam some coffee & donuts before the F bodied bow-tie crossed the finish line.
HMMMMMMMMMM ,Reaction Time? never the less the GM whynners probably begged to factor the mopars (and maybe ford's) because they were too fast,,,just like they did back in the 60's and 70's, Chevy was never about shit but complaining to NASCAR and NHRA to "slow the mopars and fords down" because they couldnt compete.
Chrysler also whined about Fords 427 'Cammer' cause they knew it could beat them, so GM wasen't the only one, remember?
I'am not saying MoPar is bad, i just think it's old to trash other manufacturers u don't like, i used to be all into MoPars, but i just grewed tired of the others talking shit about GM and Ford, just because they didn't like them and/or agreed with fact, sometimes MoPar won, sometimes Ford of GM, no big deal why hating on the others when you can instead like all of em?
Sometimes its not who wins the races but rather who is more reliable. They all have there good points but id have to say that Ford and Chrysler outperform Chevrolet engines on a general consistent basis. Chevrolet engines are far easier to maintain and upgrade due to the abundant of surplus parts accumulated in the junk yard. Shall I say that I've seen fewer old Dodges and Fords in the junk yard then Chevy's?
Well i give you that Chevy, or many chevys lack quality, period. They made great cars in the 50s, and in the 60s and in very early 70s, then they changed, and quality were about to become really low, like the Chevy Vega, it had crappy quality, most junk yards refused at one point to take em since so many were chrushed. Do we see Vegas anylonger at car meets? Dont think so.
@Eddiemotor Ummmmm you could be more wrong if you tried a little harder. After GM left Ford became the biggest bunch of whinebags ever, hemi this ,Chrysler that, boo hoo hoo. The only time Ford was competitive was when they were allowed to run 2 carbs to Chryslers 1. And Chrysler didn't give a shit about the cammer, they had one of their own on the dyno that out produced the Ford. NASCAR saw where this was going, limited the dominating wing cars to 305ci and told Ford to grow up.
@middsteve Ofcourse i might, but i dont deny historical facts if they are proved, but to be honest i dont mind which manufacturer who did that, what engines that did those races e.t.c , i like all of the manufacturers, may it be MoPar, Ford or GM, some of them were successfull at certein times, sometimes they lost, no big deal and i'am not whining, and i dont see a point in why there should be any argues about it, why not instead just like the cars as a whole?
And to you MoPar fans who thinks MoPar is ''unbeatable'', well, if MoPar is ''unbeatable'', then why is the Camaro winning in this video? Can't cast aside facts and say it's bullshit.
I know MoPar fans are perhaps one of the most loyal, (or sometimes fanatic?), selfestemed car fans in existance, but neverless saying fact is fake and ignores it and shit like that because you disagree is just imature. Fact is fact, MoPar aint unbeatable, disagree? Ok fine idk, i know i'am right anyway.
Bad excuse, and wrong, you can beat a 426, just because u have hemisphearical heads wont make you unbeatable, fact.
Oh and the term ''MoPar or no car'' is just a myth, and old now, no one listens to it anyway, if any term is better then it's ''Allcar or no car'' if anything.
Btw the street hemi isn't that good as people might think in stock form, the ZL1 and the cammer beats it in stock form, and that is fact. Can't deal with fact, then ok. Chevy or lazy!
dude ur wrong the hemi is a more efficiant motor the hemisphearical head makes for better air and better spark then a ford or chevy it kicked so much ass in its time is cause it was a more advanced design. out of all the big blocks hemis are the best to build because they requrie almost no effort to get horespower and torque and can run at hi RPM efficently like a small block. dont believe me why the hell are top fuel dragsters useing nothing but hemis??? mopar or no car bitch!
Wrong, it was NOT the most powerfull engine STOCK from FACTORY BACK then, the 427 SOHC CAMMER produces over 657 bhp while the race hemi about 550-600, the reason Top Fuel uses Hemi as the basic to build their engines is because the rules limits the engine builders to use old technology, the Hemi is favoured because the Cammer's 6 foor chain system would break in those kind of powerlevels they have. And you're an ignorant bitch since you ignore fact and lies, fuck you if u don't like facts.
You need to get a NHRA rule book. There is no rules about old anything/ Go to the dragstrip and ask the Pros. If John Force thought a Cammer would work he would run one in his Ford
''Like many other motor sport formulas originating in the United States, the NHRA favors heavy restrictions on engine configuration, rather than technological development. This restricts the teams to using many decades old technologies* This only relates to basic engine configuration; most other areas are under continuous development e.g. fuel injection, clutch operation, ignition and aero parts.'' - Wikipedia
Well to be honest the hemi didnt even start to even breathe good until 5500 rpm... The stock hemis were choked by they way they were factory tuned. I seen a video of all the big blocks of that era and the 427 was a far second... producing around 620 hp... while the hemi produced around 850. Mind you thats stock engines but tuned so that the ignition timing was advanced for 5500+ rpm.
Hmmm, i've heard about that video, they showed a couple of muscle car engines to see which one that were most powerfull, i think.
But to be honest i think they manipulated it a bit, i mean 800 horses....the Hemi Darts/Barracudas would go faster than low 10s with that powerrange, and the others were probubly also changed with some stuff to make more at that show, i don't believe those engines they had against each other were completely build as stock, Unless they can prove they were stock ofc.
Well no as i recall the only difference they made was in the distributor and intake... but that modification was very minor in the sense of actual part replacement. They match ported the intake to the head and advanced the ignition, quiet minor in the sense that what ford did in order to compete with just a stock 426 Hemi (The 440 6 pack had higher specs than the stock hemi. but everyone knows the 440 is no match). Both are great motors from Chrysler and can both give the 427 a hard time.
Well, personaly, i think that if you're about to set up a couple of engines and compare them, let's say, power, torque, Rpm e.t.c, they should All be build to the factory original specs, not one single detail should be affecting it's power to be more than stock, no better flowing heads or carbs, not performance pistons, no porting, no sharper cams, just pure stock, in all it's details.
But do we really have to dyno V8s and see how much power they got, why not let the tires do the talk? :)
I agree but for that test they didn't do one thing to a motor that they didn't do to the others... All things considered the chassis and rest of the running gear are just as important. You cant use all that great power it if your rear differential breaks...
It's like eating icecream without icecream, u wont get anything out of it without all the small parts as one aspect together, miss one or several important links, and the chain wont do it, or will just perform badly.
"that camaro beat that charger's ass at the line" sorry but im gonna have to agree with angelizquier1 the torque and power of the charger is way higher and the weight of the camaro is far less and personaly ive never seen a charger from that year pull the wheels that well for that long bravo

the charger was clearly more powerful you can see it on the launch it wheelies too long because of the torque and it even starts catching up to the camaro GO MOPAR AND FUCK HATERS!
at the end, you see the charger catching him.. the camaro got a .9 second start advantage, and he had 100% traction, and his front end wasn't bobbing from all the torque that a real car like the dodge actually has.
are you fuckin retarded the charger had no wheelie bars if that thing were to hook like that with wheelie bars it would have kicked the camaro's ass!!
No. It's the weight ratio. Almost any car could do a wheelie with enough power(assuming we are talking about muscle cars). Personally, I have a 67 Camaro w/502 crate running around 780hp with Lingenfelter custom supercharger on 93octane and I can do wheelies. Thing is keeping that weight down.
the charger would have won if it wasnt doing wheelies!!!!!!!!!!
