  • Would be nice if next time you make a video don't do it on a day with Gail force winds, that way we can hear everything you say and not the odd word. !!

  • Im buying a Mauser M98 1937 30-06 in a few days :)

It has the swastika and eagle ingraved. Gonna look nice to my collection..

    And for target practice/hunting..!

  • could you have picked a windier day to try to group shots?

  • Seriously, how can people try and tell what caliber your rifle is. You just filmed yourself putting factory .30-06 rounds into the rifle. I dont think there is any question as to what caliber it is. Nice rifle.

  • I was just looking at one of these yesterday

  • @Dogrose007

You can get a barrel through a custom shop

Douglas barrels. I hope that helps you

    Good luck

  • If the pitting worries you you can take it to the shop and have it magna-fluxed, but a little surface corrosion under the handguard is not unusual. It rarely causes problems.

The Mauser has way too much steel in the barrels to begin with. That's part of what makes them so strong. Nice rifles.

  • Hey just so everyone is clear on this, this is NOT a .30-06 rifle. It is actually a 7.92x57mm mauser rifle. He is shooting .30-06 rounds that have been converted to 7.92. This is why he calls he gun a .30-06. Really it is just a .22 chambered for .50x12ga sabots.

Obviously he's from Australia and can't read like an American (I'm from Qanada so I am superiour to you ahl).

  • germans know how to make a rifle

  • is the pitting inside the barrel, or is it really so bad under the handguard as to cause you to refrain from shooting it?

I cant imagine it being so bad...

  • i brought FN mauser 30/06 rifle a few years back, mine is the colombian carbine with a 16" barrel.. lots of fun to shoot, i would have to say the recoil of my carbine is matched to my ruger m77 300win mag, little rifle with a decent amount of recoil :)

  • kick like a bloody mule those do !

  • Would this be a good gun for elk? My old Husqvarna was a bit shakey.

    Is the recoil heavy?

  • Would this be adquete for elk? My Husquvarna was a bit shakey. Does not look like bad recoil either.

  • Would this be adquete for elk? My Husquvarna was a bit shakey.

  • que patada que tiene eso jaja

  • This rifle caliber is 7.93x67 not 30-06!!

  • @gidzsi Uhh, no, its a 30-06. It was ORIGINALLY 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser), and I have explained why, and how, it was converted to 30-06 in the comment thread. Get your facts straight before commenting dude.

  • @mephistosminion BOY amen brother, what a dumb fuck!. They even make them in .308!!!!

  • @gidzsi This is a 30-06, they did convert many, I DO Not understand WHY people think that uploaders do not know their facts or guns, Spanish, Isreal Mausers were made in .308 too!

  • @gidzsi It is 30-06 DUMFUCK! they made a few of them.

  • @gidzsi OMG! Read your Mauser history! It's a FN M50 Belgian/Colombian contract rifle, made during the adoption of the FN49 .30-06. They were made in .30-06 caliber in 1951-2. Only about 100,000 made. They are rare & worth more than other Mauser rifles. They have a ".30" stamped on the rear of the receiver, and a notch on the front for the longer .30-06 cartridges loaded via stripper-clip. Minor pitting means nothing. Shoot it. They are very well made. +$ for crests -$ for FAMAGE. $300.00 value.

  • @gidzsi hey there, alot of countrys converted there mausers to 30-06 after the fall of german and or there 8x57 stocks dryed up and surp 30-06 was cheep. same reason alot of them were converted to 30-06 or 8mm06 over in the USA after WWII

  • Thats one mighty fine rifle you got there,Where did you buy it?

  • poor day to shoot a vid

  • 'Piting is no reason to stop using a rifle. In most cases accuracy will not be effected. You just have to clean the bore a little more than usual. Go ahead and use it. It's not like you will ware out the barel ;-)

  • Also, mine was $575 from Queensland Gun Exchange, and can you put springfield stripper clips into it

  • I have recently purchaced a famage mauser, originally a german mauser, but has been converted to 30-06, aneyone know any history on it

  • its not that much recoil at all .. he just knows how to shoot and stays relaxed while firing ...

  • 30-06 alot of power there....give you a good fuckin smack !!

  • stop talking!

  • Oh sorry mate, I thought when I made the video for people who are generally interested in firearms I'd include as much info as I knew about the rifle. Sorry if I bored you.

  • No, you ain't boring M8. Keep talking. I have a .30-06 Mauser too & they are rarest caliber. The .30-06 is the most powerful cartridge chambered in M-98 military Mauser. The most popular Mauser calibers were the 7.92x57, next was the 7x57, then the 7.65x53. The Spanish FR-8 is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. In reality, all Mauser calibers are good for hunting, 1 shot, 1 kill @ about 300 yards.

The Swedish M-96 in 6.5x55mm is the most accurate military Mauser. I love collecting Mausers.

  • I have a 30-06 m98 military mauser as well! If you ever ask people questions on restoring them.... They always say "you must have a lee enfield 30-06, I don't know of any 30-06 mausers". They must be pretty rare. Well I have both a mauser and a lee enfield, my 06 mauser is a 1917 model..... I agree on the keep talking m8! Don't listen to people who require shiny objects for entertainment, you are holding a true piece of quality firearm history.

  • @mephistosminion It's alright, use subtitle next time that way people who want to learn can, and we will know what your saying without trying to listen through the wind

  • @mephistosminion Cool video, don't mind the wanks being critical.

  • How can you fit the .30-06 cartridge in a receiver made for 7.92 Mauser? Wouldn't it be too long?

  • There is a small oval cut in the back of the reciever to allow for the longer round. I had a photo somewhere but its lost in the depths of the internet.

  • Oh yeah I remember seeing something about the arsenal cutting a small hole when they rechambered rifles from 7mm Mauser to 7.92mm Mauser.

  • @disturbedone5009 The .30-06 is not too long. It's just the right maximum cartridge length. Perfect fit. Husqvarna used to convert military Mausers to sporters and the .30-06 was one of their most popular conversion calibers. They also offered the 9.3x62mm caliber in their Mausers. The 9.3x62 is a kick-ass caliber! That can be used to take any North American game animals. The 9.3x62 is more or less a necked-up .30-06. You'll naturally lose a millimeter expanding the neck.

  • I just put some M2 .30-06 from my M1 Garand on a stripper clip for Kar98k and tried to load it but there is no way that would be very practical unless the receiver had a groove cut into it. It would not be possible to use high BC bullets because they would be too long to fit.

  • @disturbedone5009 DUDE the gun was converted to 30-06! omg are you people dumb! They made them in .308 too! YES YES YES the original was 7.92X57, than THIS one is converted to 30-06, did you ever her of a Winchester lever acxtion chambered for 7.62R russian???

  • @rheinmetall30mm

I know the rifle was converted to .30-06 and I have a Kar98k and multiple .30-06 rifles. The .30-06 round will barely fit into a standard Kar98k action when I tried. The bullet tips would hit the front receiver ring. The video poster said there is a cut out in the receiver to fit the rounds in without any interference.

Do you know how to read or are you just some dumb fuck that likes to post retarded comments?

What does the Win lever gun have to do with anything?

  • @disturbedone5009 Actually man, I DID not mean the comment to go to you man, SORRY it was for the guy above that said the caliber was 7.92 by 57 not 30-06!!!! you said what you said, Sorry.

  • @disturbedone5009 its simple you rework the barrels metal and then give it new rifleing to fit the new cartridge

  • @zero48411

    Rework the barrel metal? Haha.

It would take a completely different barrel. 8mm Mauser uses a larger bullet than the .30-06.

  • That'll wake you up in the morning.

  • Well if the pitting isnt TOO deep (has to be very deep to be dangerous) You should be fine.

Nice rifle. Them 30-06 Mausers sure are interesting rifles.

  • i cant buy this weapon until im in a gun club and i have my gun license :(

  • where do you live?

  • australia

  • I see some confusion on the caliber thing.. The 30-06 mausers were re chambered 7.65 argentine. The bullet diameter isn't exactly correct for 30-06. it's .311 where the 06 is .308. close enough for decent accuracy, but handload some with the .311 bullets and you will be surprised at the accuracy. I loved the one I owned. Wish I had never sold it.

  • After World War II some of the Mausers were re-chambered in to 30-06 according to an old Guns & Ammo magizine I have read. Mausers in 30-06 are hard to find.

  • The Germans left enormous amounts of Mausers after the war.

In Norway allmost all WW2 mauser K98's are re-chambered to 30-06 and used i the army for several years. When they were taken out of service in the sixties, they could be bought for just around 20$. They can now be found in ok contition for about 200$.

  • It's "fah-BREEK" Nationale.

    French is silly.

  • Hahahaha! Get angry mate! It is me the guy with red hair!

  • No you cant use 30-06 in an 8mm. What are you fucking retarded? You can only use 8mm Mauser rounds. This rifle has a new barrel and chamber, 30-06, you cant just jam ammo into a chamber and hope it wll work.

  • this mauser was not used during WWII? my gramps owns a mauser.30-06 with the nazi swastika on it... i'm not really sure if it's a .3006 or a karr, with is the difference between'em (beside the rounds) ??

  • What's stamped on the barrel?

Belgium produced 30-06 Mausers based on the FN 1935 model.

  • haha, you tell that dumb bastard

  • So I can use 30-06 rounds in my ww2 German K98 mauser?

  • those things kick sooo fucking hard im 5' 1" and i tried shooting my dads 30 and it kicked me 3 feet back on my ass =P

  • I so totally need a new barrel for mine, any ideas??

  • just shot one of those today, my shoulder kills !!!!

  • um i shoot 8mm .323 round. The germans used the 8mm to have a advantage over the smaller 30-06 round

  • Yep, .30-06 too. I got one of those.

    Mausers come in 6.5x55mm, 7x57mm, 7.62x51mm(NATO), 7.62x63mm(.30-06), 7.65x53mm, and 7.9x57(8mm). And the Siamese 8x52R.

All Mausers feed from the magazine only. And all mausers hold 5 rounds.

The rarest Mauser is the Siamese 8x52R.

The most accurate Mauser is the Swedish 6.5x55mm.

  • Don't sweat superficial pitting. Have you thought of rebluing the rifle itself? I've done two Mausers (Yugo 24/47 & Kar 98) with good results.

  • You are aiming to long.

  • Yeha I took this video before I went to boot camp and advanced infantry modules, so I was letting it wander all over the place.

  • i didn't know they made 30-06 mausers:I

  • It was a common cartridge to rechamber it for just after WW2 since I think it was the NATO std. ammo before the went with the 308 Win. That cartridge has a very flat trajectory. I have the same setup, and I'm very happy with it.

  • Yep, on the NATO side of the fence, .30 Springfield became the standard from about 1948-1957 or so. Belgium & Norway converted a lot of Mausers of various pedigree to .30-06. Many were sold to South America. The Belgian FN-49 was made in .30-06 as well.

  • u just like the mauser look? im sure yur not takin it into battle but wouldnt a springfield wit 5 rnds b more convenient

  • sorry dudes went shooting on the weekend and found out my 30 06 mauser can take 5 rounds. my internal mag was jammed and now has freed itself.

  • You can probably find a trench mag that will take 20 rounds. It was never all that popular among the Wehrmacht troops, but I'm thinking about getting one anyway. :)

  • sweet!

  • I'm going to get a Mauser in 7.92x57mm, a Mosin Nagant(7.62x54mmR), or an Enfield No4 MkI(.303BRITISH).

  • What!? the .30-06 Mausers only hold 3 rounds!? That's fucking gay, I want 5.

  • I've got two M98, in 8x57IS and in .30-06, both with a five rounds magazine =)

Maybe the K98 which where changed from 8x57 to .30-06 can only hold 3, but it's not realistic, because the size of both calibers is very similar

  • sorry dudes went shooting on the weekend and found out my 30 06 mauser can take 5 rounds. my internal mag was jammed and now has freed itself.

  • I can only post a bit of text at a time- I tried to post all these at once- here are some links which may help show what it is!?

  • yeah dude iv got a 3006 Mauser. only holds 3 rounds but great stopping power when hunting.

  • It is a mauser

  • its a mauser

  • No chance in hell thats a springfield 1903, Im holding mine right now, its not.

  • I saw a Turkish Mauser named 'Turkish Mauser M1903/1938'. Is this chambered in .30-06? If so, I'm goanna get it!

  • the 1903 was based off the mauser98 action with minor differences. also some mausers were rebarreled at the factories after the war to accept the plentiful allied calibers such as 30-06 and later on in the 1950 and 60s some models were rebarreled to 308NATO

  • thats clearly a rebarreled mauser u fags..in NO WAY does that gun resemble a model 1903 springfield rifle AT ALL..and im sorry to hear you found some pitting in the barrel minion

  • .30-06 MAUSER? You sure its not a Springfield 1903? I mean your probably right about it being a Mauser, some sort of conversion or prototype of some sort or something. Its possible, and I guess thats the proof, but are you sure its not a 1903?

  • where could I buy one of those ?

  • I found mine in a gun shop in Sorrell (Tasmania, Austrialia) I have seen them advertised for sale a few times in SSAA magazines and such. I belive in the USA most large surplus dealers have some examples.

  • Pitting is that same as movement, also it moves in the stock?

Because u can add some rubber, not just normal but some special just for the fact of pitting. Im gonna do same on Mauser K98, though I dont understand hov on earth it happened. Hear with some experts, they can help.

  • Actually FN manufactured the 1950 (K98) Mauser in 30-06 after WWII.

They sold them all over the place eg Morocco, and Columbia.

I bet u guys could not point to those 2 particular locations on a world map

  • actually the comment was aimed at the other guys

  • It is a Masuer. Built by FN of belgium based on the design of the K98. It is different only in that it has a straight bolt handle, different sling swivels/upper handguard configuration and the caliber is different. It was originally 7.92, but re barrelled in the '50s when the M1s were sold to colombia

  • Mellick u SUCK - U MUFKIN

  • Douche. Get back to makin' mah double quarterpounder you fooking NZ immigrant

  • yea relle 30-06 mauser.........buddie thats no mauser that looks to me like a springfield.....by the way 30-06 was used for the m1 garrand and springfield rifles....the mauser k98k shot a 7.92 round which is only slightly bigger than an the 30-06 because a 30-06 was comparable to a 7.62 round

  • 30-06 MIAUSER

    ??????????

  • good interesting video, but whats with the gaylord holding the gun ? cant they replace him with some one else ?
