@shrivalson Speakers are a part of the Onkyo HT-S9400THX Home theater system. A little weak on the base but separation of the 7.1 speaker set up is great.
Man, i just had to revisit this cool setup again.....& i gotta say; ANY DISLIKES ON HERE ARE STRAIGHT-UP HATERS!!!! (Mr. Ervin for President! 2012) LoL
Ervinarts, just wondering....took you 3 years to complete...in that time did you still use the projector, stereo (lol, receiver/components), and workout equipment in the unfinished basement? Or did you add these things as you progressively updated/finished the basement?
@gramasbackyard for over 2 years during construction. I watched tv using a 19" on a work table. I sat for the longest time in a bean bag chair. It wasn't until I got close to finishing did I get the components and the furniture. Those were the last things I bought.
a wonderful "common mans/womans" home theatre!!! I'd have used some different equipment, but all in all a wonderful system you are rightfully proud of!! :)
@googulisevilscum Thank you. We worked hard to keep the cost down, while getting the full home theater experience. Our budget did not permit a better quality system. That's the good thing about the set-up. We can easily change out the components as funds become available.
@TheAcinNetwork Naw, I just treat the release of movies on DVD or Netflix as the new movie release. I watch the previews and say I will look when it comes out on DVD. Save a few bucks. Cause $25 is for 5 people (that's how many seats)
Very cool home theater room. Looks just like something I'd want to put together someday if I ever get a house. The only problem I noticed (and I'm known for being picky about this kind of thing) is that when you were watching Hulk, I saw you've got that Smooth Motion 120hz setting on which makes films sort of look like high-speed video. But if you like the way it looks, that's cool.
All in all, very impressive, especially considering you did the whole thing yourself. Looks professional.
@Motorheadache95 Thank you. When we originally set up the Projector the manufacturer let us know our model was to be calibrated by a technician. Cost $200.
We said naw. We turned it on adjusted the focus and screen position and that was it. We really liked the picture out of the box. I really know nothing about the setting that you speak of.
@ervinarts Its a "feature" that adds artificial video frames to the existing frames in the film to make it look "smoother." I think it makes films look like camcorder video though. Turning it off makes the film move naturally just like at the cinema. It has different names depending on the brand-- something like Smoothmotion or Automotion. It would be in your picture or setup menu. Its just a suggestion-- if you like the way it looks and don't want to mess with any of the settings, I get that.
@SarcasmSmith the second row is a total of 10". That is 6" for the lower platform and 4" for the upper platform. It leaves about 6'5" of clearance to the ceiling which is ok cause the tallest in my family is 6'.
@tawandawhite My wife chose the colors. She can not remember what they were. I do know they were inspired from a trip we took about 3 years ago to Las Vegas. Warm earth tones is all I know.
@thehalokiller6676 Nope. It took us almost 3 years of saving, bargaining and we did everything ourselves. That saved us a ton of money. Again. Don't hate. Just enjoy.
@thehalokiller6676 Thank you much for the compliment...how did you find this video. I posted it almost a year after my first video (as an update) but very few people seem to see this one. I noticed you commented on both videos.
this is for @thehalokiller6676 when you are born you are only sure of one thing that you are going to die, but the rest you have to go and get it........
Love how the carpet was put on the riser. I still think you need to change your sub to get better bang. Try B.I.C. You can find them on amazon. I got the 12" down firing sub for only $200 and it goes really deep. I budget shop just like you dude. P.S. GO COLTS !!!!!!
@logan1966 I will probably upgrade the entire sound system, when I grow up. I used to love the Colts...before the owner snuck them out of town. Still respect them though.
@chriscmac23 The total cost was approx. $10,490.00. We went slow and took advantage of every sale and Ebay cost that we could. We compared, compared and compared before buying. And every single thing we could do we did and what we couldn't do we learned how to do.
@chriscmac23 Thank you. It cost about $11,000. that included completely finishing the entire basement, all the equipment and a finished bathroom. We kept cost down by bargin shopping and doing everything ourselves...and I mean everything. the only thing we didn't do was the carpeting. We could wait no longer.
Very nice basement, Great Theatre...By the way how did you post this video.. I just finished my basement and home theatre and can't get my videos posted...Any Tips would be appreciated...Thanks
@rcappeillo I have a small digital camera that produces. files that are compatible with Quicktime software. The files end in .MOV. Another thing they can not be more than 10 minutes long. Hope that helps.
Very nice and functional use of the space, I personally would have gone for a larger tv, in the UK our older properties were built with cellars quite often but they dont bother with them mostly these days, I think they can be a great feature and you done well with the space :) 5 stars
