I'm a big fan of Ms. Curry and I will still respect her no matter what happens, but it's just a little sad to find out that she can be so out of touch of (half) her origin that she is unfamiliar with perhaps one of the most common word in the Japanese language. There is really, no good excuse for this pronunciation mistake - imagine a Japanese reporter in Japan saying "Thonk you".
I Googled for a translation, and got hits on all permutations in spelling:obviously that's a problem with translating any language. Then I found an Anne Curry tweet, and trusting the reporter, I defer to her spelling. Even there, anyone trying to learn the subtleties of Japanese language from some random YouTube video is duly warned!
Regardless of the English spelling/pronunciation, the spirit of the word is important to convey to all (ironically I'm not trying my best to spell or say it). :)
Nice sentiment, but the way you are pronouncing the word comes out to mean something like "norheast abuse". When pronunciation carries the meaning, try to get the pronunciation correct. The correct word is ”がんばる”, which is pronounced GAnbaru, not GOnbaru.
