these songs are amazing, I just keep searching, early VH, brings be back to the days of the Pasadena Civic, and the keg parties in Pasadena. Also the days of DR Music in Sierra Madre.
Ed needs this guitar tone/sound back. Its been too watered down and full of chorus n shit for the past 25 years. This old shit was heavy and had some bite to it.
Dont count on it- Ed is pissed at the way people just download music- to make a real album it costs thousands of $. They're not gonna do that when the socialist asshole kids of today are just gonna steal it- sad to say.
Van Halen will never be as good without Mike. He's every bit a part of their signature sound as the other guys. However, I did like the first two VH/Hagar albums. The 70s and 80s were really their times. The problem they have now is neither singer can sing that stuff live anymore. Their last few tours have not been up to par. But, they have nothing to prove at this point. This old stuff will always rock and I'll still be listening to it when I'm 90.
I saw in another video comment section a completely brilliant idea. Just clean up these recordings, remix them and release them as "Van Halen Zero" just as they are: a time capsule documnetation with great energy and vibe! I doubt they can get that if they re-record from scratch.
I second that emotion. It doesn't matter if they're rough. Just make 'em close enough and get 'em out there before nobody cares anymore. It could fuel demand for a full-on reunion tour with Mike...
The david era is something else. Its a symbios between them that samy will never have. Man... listen to the first solo for instance, its groove and funk is sexy!!!!!
Ed & Dave are Stupid...All they have to do is open up the vaults & dig out some of these unheard tunes, Re-record them & put them out Today on a new record...And They would be FUCKiN HITS...The people would Eat Them Up......
it might be hard i have seen a vid where ed couldnt even remember how to do the intro to mean streets so it would take some time to get back to that long ago
to me, best Vh song ever, what a drive and groove, shame it never saw the needle of a turn- table. Perhaps one day on a sort of "never heard before" type of album
"Complete Zero" kicks ass. Who wants to bet that maybe some of these tunes older tracks will be one the "new album"? Or maybe a "Vault" type album. That'd be cool.
I don't get your point with this statement , this tune is fantastic , truth is VH started amazing and remains to be the greatest American hard rock band ever , and they're back !
Hendrix was also always a great guitarist. But I am glad it took until '67 for someone to sign him as he had grown from what you heard on early recordings. Everthing in its fullness.
yeah i totally agree the stuff on fair warning is crazy his stuff just got better but yeah sammy hagar stuff isn't as good, but the judgement day tapping is cool
yeah, F.U.C.K is the only Hagar album that i like a lot, the rest seem boring and incomplete, OU812 had some cool intro licks and stuff, but the rest wasnt executed properly. 5150 had too much keyboard shit, and Balance was just crap (except for Seventh Seal)
whats amazing is that it kept on improving, on fair warning his playing reached a new more comlex style, and then on 1984 it became even more complex, the hagar era stuff is really complex aswell, but not as good, haha
Very cool song. Short and sweet. Since Ed won't put anything out but an expensive guitar for his fans, he should release all of this early demo stuff cleaned up.
haha, dont forget the amps, leads, picks, strings and upcoming shoes, haha....thatll sadly never happen, cos theyre "a new band", and "theyre only moving forwards"...and theyd have to pay mike, haha
can't wait for the new album!.. I hope we hear the OLD VH sounds and not new DLR (eat'em and smile" crap.

If you listen carefully, you can tell that they remade this song into "On Fire"--Daves lyrics and "Foooooll" notes are the dead give away.

This sounds a lot like take your whiskey home from the Women and children first album. If you listen closely you hear the similarity

I hear a lot of "I'm On Fire" influences through it - vocal styling and riffs.

This song is pretty damned good. It would have been perfect on VHII!
