  • wow u are sooooooooooooooooooooo gooooood

  • You rock girl!

  • Wow, this is great!

  • Love the confidence and power -- and she's having a great time singing it. Keep on singing!

  • you go gurl.

  • You don't need to be a stick-insect to be a fabulous singer! This girl has alot of potential and has a really strong voice! I've played this in jazz, and it was really fun, now i need to persuade them to arrange it into a vocal number... hmmmm

  • @halifaxcitadel you lost sight of this performance. you focused on something that should be insignificant to her performance. Your cover up case now of childhood obesity is stale. She could have an ailment or glandular prob. making a joke at her expense is not calling like you see it's just unnecessary I would expect this from a kid not a 45+ yr old man. Talent comes in all shapes who are you to judge? Call me what you will I'm an adult lol & way to fabulous to give you a 2nd thought

  • Respond to this video... She is lovely just the way she is & sings beautifully

  • @halifaxcitadel your a douche bag

  • Great voice - I can see you singing some of Dee Alexander's material. You have a great future ahead of you.

The Chicago Tribune visits jazz vocalist Dee Alexander during a recent performance at the Velvet Lounge nightclub. Alexander was selected as one of the Tribune's Chicagoans of the Year.

  • was this at msm? the hall looks like it

  • good voice !!, bad acoustic room..

  • she has a really strong and good voice. She is also young....I would advise listening to A LOT of singers and musicians so she can get into the Jazz groove if that is what she wants to do. She has lots of potential and if it isn't Jazz, her voice certainly has a spot somewhere with all it's power.

  • She has a pretty good voice, no doubt, but this is in no way jazz.

  • check out billie holliday - all of me.

  • MOOOOOOO....

  • this is kind of straight. this song is supposed to be swung and more edgy. nice voice though.

  • OMG Nice voice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent!! I've been searching for this song sang just like this!! I love it!! Thank you for putting it out there!!

  • Love it !!!! This gurl can go to Broadway :)

  • everybody interprets tunes differently but i dont think you should have held out all of the endings. Kinda of takes a bit away of the jazz feeling. Even if you didnt want to do it at a swing tune pace, i dont agree with using legato throughout the whole tune.

    But good voice.

  • pretty god sung... good voice i would agree with halaluani... it´s actually a broadway voice with a little jazz feel... :-)

  • I'd guide this voice toward Broadway unless there is a true passion for jazz (I don't think this is the case). It's very good but uneducated. The feeling is completely missing. It was a loudly sung song with no changes in dynamics throughout. I sense that exposure to good music has been limited. Exposure to artists like Ann Hampton Callaway,Audra McDonald & Marin Mazzie could help teach rendering songs in a way that makes people feel. Watching/listening to B'way show DVDs could be helpful, too.

  • Listen to NOFX's cover of "All of Me". The singing is phenomenal. Paste this beside the com/ in the link : watch?v=pInQ0l4qVWg&feature=related

  • it sounds very nice

  • absolutely, awesome

if theres more emotion to it, she be even better

  • she is GOOD..... bless her....

  • Very good for a sixteen year old. She has a very good voice, but she needs to learn how to sing, not yell, and about how to swing, sing in tune and interpret the song. She has to learn everything, but I hope she does 'cause that voice is a very strong natural instrument.

    (LJF singing teacher/ coach NYC/London 20+ yrs)

  • oh mannnn if she can make it a bit jazzier.. a bit funkier... a bit sadder.... put some emotion into it... at the right moments

i would die of bliss listening to her everyday.

God what a beauuutiful voice.. sigh.

  • The girl is only sixteen but it looks like she is a star in the making. Maybe some of the less than civil commenter's will have to eat their words in a few years time. She has a lovely powerful voice. She is good just now, but I reckon she will be great in the not too distant future. Good luck to her.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • she makes wrong the intonation on 7th bar , the theme touches a b9 but she does always only 9 . The chord in this tonality must be D7b9 and she sing D79 . She loses intonation at the end , and the bass doesn't really know the chords. She hasn't swing, interpretation and jazz feeling. But she has good voice.

  • gypsi jazz

  • Comment removed

  • ok guys jazz is supposed to be about the singer not the music shes singing just fine she had a frickin amazing voice and its beautiful for jazz

  • strong voice, but she doesn't understand what she's singing

  • The linea delivery? It just aint there, and she should clip her phrases.

    Heh...... Im no Kurt Eliing.

Just thought I would add my advice.

  • The room has bad acoustics. If she could have backed off a bit and incorporated some more rythm and phrasing it would have been much better. Good voice, though.

  • It was a studio recital and not meant to be a professional recording. The acoustics were what they were. No offense, but "rythm" is spelled "rhythm. "

  • Wel I agree I'm just saying I think it took away from the performance. And oops 0.0 Hah I can't belive I didn't catch that XD

  • The guitarist looks like George Lopez! I don't know why I'm making that sort of a reference, but the girl is a great singer too.

  • she has a great voice but this isn't jazz at all (the vocals) she should anticipate the words more to make it sound more swingy and jazzy

  • Rock on Girl!! You're nine flavors of fabulous!!

  • That's white peoples jazz, you know like Doris Day.

  • It is pop, not jazz. And at least Doris Day could swing. I hope she also gets around some real jazz musicians who can help her out!

  • @pianodon Actually it IS a Jazz song!! My Jazz choir is doing it right now!!

  • @singaholic13

It has also been performed by classical singers and punk rock groups. So what? Does that make it a punk rock song or classical song? It is probably not the only pop tune your choir sings.

  • true, nothing really jazzy about it - it lacks rhythm, phrasing and it's all the same from beginning to end - in mood, in phrasing and in tone quality. and pitch problems? very minor ones, but that's just another example of how inexperienced this girl is, not a lack of talent., and is not a fault. maybe if she had real jazz accompaniment that would change her and we'd see if she really had the feeling for rhythm and improvization in her :-} overall, NOT BAD FOR A BEGINNER AT ALL!!! keep at it!

  • Nice voice but there's nothing jazz bout it.

  • it's the jazz swing version I'm singing it in choir

  • amazing!

  • So, jazaban58. Pacing and tonal reclaimation are not musical terms, and reclaimation is not a word at all. So why don't you be a little more specific with your critiques.

  • 2 reclamation, reformation

     rescuing from error and returning to a rightful course;

If you did not recognize the word, well, ces't la vie... tonal reclamation is recovering from pitch problems in the middle of a song.

pacing?/? you do not know what it means to pace yourself during a song?

you're not just an imbecile, you're an ignorant one at that.

I usually leave good praise when it is due and good criticism when I think it may help a good performer.

  • Ok, if you are referring to the fact that she has pretty much one dynamic throughout the entire song, and she should pace her dynamics at a more meaningful way, then i agree. if you refer to pacing as to pace your self during an athletic race, then i don'tunderstand. As for the word tonal, it is a word, but i usually stated as Tonality, and her;s is not great but she has better tonality then some. reclaimation, is not a word, however, as jsu2943k stated, but reclamation is a word as you stated.

  • Iike it , I love jazz

  • you sing very well, keep doing it!

  • AMAZZZZZING

  • wow....amazing voice :) keep it up and you will go far :)

  • Bravo....great interpretation

  • wow..people need to stop bashing this girl, she has an amazing voice! jeeeez stop getting so anal, amazing voice, keep it up !

  • Pretty well on pitch the whole way through - but my gosh - colour and shade is so badly needed in her voice. It was just too forced from her. I wish novices knew that the only way to sing is NOT TO YELL! And being an 'amazing' jazz singer - she must listen more to the other instruments and refrain from singing this standard in such a "straight 8's manner'. Keep trying.

  • Too much Echo due to accoustics. Singer has good vocal strength but will have to avoid straining at the higher register....Thanks for posting......

  • Good job. Well balanced arrangement. You can tell that the audience got the message by their enthusiastic response.

  • that's beautiful!

  • it makes me mad when ppl bash vids like this...um,ye...obviously the acoustics arent gunna sound the best...its a home video retard and this girl is good! at least shes getting on stage and showing her talent, i like the sound for this song.

  • She needs to actually listen to Jazz singers, to grasp some sort of a concept for presentation as opposed to belting and ruining my speakers.

  • @DaSagets your a douche

  • @joydivisionfan77 You're*

  • Then your probably lying.

  • why is it amazing that she can sing like this at 16? i know at least 12 people who sang like this since they were 7 and i swear on my life im not lying.

  • Then you're dead.

  • I knew 13

  • I think she sounds great!

  • I don't really like the type of her voice in the spirit of the song.

Don't get me wrong, she has a great voice, but not for this song ...

Also, too much reverb on the voice, or bad acoustics ...

  • I am inclined to agree. She treats it like a pop song.

  • I think very very bad acoustics.

  • she cn really sing... there will always be haters in the world, the people with not abilities trying to bring others down

  • Hei cool voice

  • where is the dance??? no moving....

  • amazing, good stuff.

  • shes great stop talking shit people!

yeah jsut work on that stage presence thing!!!

  • GREAT voice! But you needs to work on your stage presence and vocal expression. I hope someone gets ahold of that talent and really helps to train it properly -- you could have a serious career as a singer. Best of luck to you!

  • die fetti sou cha sogar so öppis wie singe

  • wow...some people are very moronic....

  • this is my fav. version of this song so far ALL OF ME

  • I agree, I've listened to a lot of them and this ws the best.

  • lol that's so bad :o

    :3

  • Amazing VOICE

  • Beautiful voice.

  • what song is this?

    plz tell me..

  • uhh... that would be "All of Me"

  • absolutely amazing voice I love your energy in fact your better then most of the so called professionals. It's a shame that some of the best talent in the world is undiscovered. Thank you for posting your incredible voice.

  • nice voice, but that is not jazz singing. Very Broadway. And there was no sense of telling a story...you can tell she was thinking about notes, timing, and sounding good, not about someone who just got dumped begging to be taken back. What's the point of singing if you're not going to tell a story? Might as well play a trumpet.

Check out Carmen McRae singing Good Morning Heartache.

  • Great job kiddo.

  • What an amazing voice!

  • Wow ur amazin!!!

  • wow your really.....wow

  • great...very rpomissing talent.Yhanks for posting this

    A+

  • great tone

it is awesome that they have fun performing

  • GREAT VOCALS!!

  • shes amazing !!!!!!!!!

screw all the people mentioning her weight ... just jealous of her voice !!! =P

    i sure am !!

  • if anyone dislikes her singing because she's not stick thin, then straight up...fuck you. she's a great singer, and not everyone in the world looks the same. some people are bigger and some people are smaller, God made us all the same. she's a great singer.

  • This girl can sing !!!!! i love her voice and i keep listening over and over .. i think she is just grrrreat and why moan over het weight ? not everybody is perfect ... what matters is she loves to sing and it shows .... wtg girlie i love yah

  • She has great intonation, hits all the notes. Don't be discouraged, keep singing girl! Everybody starts somewhere!

  • no swing !! bad

  • Perhaps it would be productive if she studies

singing and listens to the great ones, like Billie Holiday or Sara Vaughan. This not to imitate, but to become more than a casino lounge singer.

  • It`s OK but it isn´t Amazing.

  • She sings amazing, probably it would be a little better if she did a little more 'smooth' singing, that makes contrast

  • keep singing girl, you could be really something some day with that pop/musical belt

  • great!

it reminds me of something from Hairspray

  • hey . . this girl is pretty damn good . . go to the joe pass guiitar . .utube . joe pass

  • omgomgomgomgomgomgomg amazing

  • With a little emotion she could do broadway!

  • normal and all...

  • yes...i can see all of you

  • Nice, Nice. The song is going to be stuck in my head now lol

  • Not bad at all....

  • Umm ewill sum1 tell me who orginally sings this so i can download it and sing it for Kiwanis???

  • There are so many versions out there. Try Frank Sinatra's version, then put your own spin on it.

  • Pretty good. Lacks EMOTION which is what Jazz is all about ( atmosphere people! ). It ain't about belting out the notes. Good pitch, tho. Has potential.

  • I agree that's why you don't see that many younger 'kids' sing jazz. I think at a certain age you start "feeling" the song a bit better and you interpret the song instead of just singing. This girl is an amazing singer and probably will start giving it emotion soon :)

  • Very Broadway something!

  • she is doing just fine leave how she looks out of it

  • Having just seen Julius Ceasar at the ART in Cambridge with a hefty jazz singer, giving great style to Julie Christie songs, I'd agree. Matters not what the heft, it's the spirit, phrasing and talent that makes it.

She'll learn subtlety and this is a good start..

  • no thats jazz. listen tot he piano

  • GORGEOUS voice, but i don't think that's jazz.. jazz is softer and more relaxed and laid-back. she sounds more like pop or something.. which also rocks!!

  • jazz can be in different styles

  • this is a classical jazz standard. you could find it in any Real Book.

  • "All of me". Go and listen to sarah vaughn's version. I'ts amazing.

  • does it matter about her looks !

  • Way to go kid. Do not let any mean or stupid comments stop you from singing or putting your videos on UTube. Remember that there are people who appreciate your talent and respect your ability to sing!

  • this is singing, but not jazz.

  • Nice voice, but she sounds more like a gospelsinger than a jazzsinger.

  • u have i gd powerful voice but u sing a bit 2 loud

    [=

  • really good

what is da name of that song?

  • I would shag her for her voice

  • seriously, more videos!

i love, love, love such a strong and natural voice.

  • Someone knows her full name????

  • WOW!AMAZING VOICE!!!!!

  • Please, don't ever stop singing. Bravo!

  • good

  • Yeah Great voice indead

  • You are amazing. it is a pity that pianist wrong most of the chords :( You must go on you are great!!!

  • bloooooody hell that was great

  • hall of me.

  • absaloutly mazingg

    keep it up

  • Great voice!

  • Bonsoir,

    Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! Wow !

    Comment s'appelle cette chanson ?

  • all of me 1931

  • i like it...very good!!! ;D

  • great potential !! awesome ..not jazzy voice though..

  • If she worked on her phrasing, thought about the words she was singing, and tried some dynamics she would have a lot of potential. Although I don't like the arrangement of this version at all... still, go girl, and keep working on it!

  • ur amazing!!

  • 16!!

    nuff said

that bass play is gonna fuck his wrists up...

  • damn she's good

  • And leoloven, I'll bet you're uggly. She is a good singer for her age, piano and bass is not good. I think the bass is playing major when it suppose to be minor?

  • If that's all you can say,

maybe that says something about you?

  • Quite Very Good!

    Well Done :)

  • maannn,how do ppl sing like dat.soo good :]

  • This girl is good! Very powerfull

  • Great soul, I love it

  • Very confident for her age..not worrying about pitch or rhythm..Good Show..Good Luck!

  • You have a great great voice.. i likee so much

  • this was very good. you are really talented. and the person who called you fat is probably really insecure about themselves. keep your head up!
