Can't watch a video with any hint of religion without atheists who have to spout their 100% accurate theory of no God. I have literally never seen a single argument open with a christian blasting atheists. I'm agnostic myself. I'm fully open to the idea of a higher power but i have no solid proof to be committed to it yet. Atheists being condescending, nescient, & always having to put fourth their opinion as it's 100% right with an influential atheist being that twat Dawkins turns me away.
@ThePb895 But It's not without basis. Most Christian videos regarding religious arguments don't allow comments. They explicitly shut out discussion, instead of considering the other side. Plus, many of them involve such language as "You're an Atheist? Enjoy hell" or "I don't consider Atheists human". Atheist videos invite discussion, and while I don't always agree with their methods, their logic is sound, and their questions are good and well thought out.
Well first of all, don't worry i'm not just some opinionated moron, even though my earlier comment implies it (sorry about that) and u deleting your comment implies u think it. But u have to realise the difference between real and fake christian. Fake christians will use phrases such as 'i don't consider atheists human', when that actually flatly contradicts 'love your neighbour as yourself'. Real christians are also open minded, use sound logic and don't hate atheists for what they think.
@ThePb895 Actually no, I removed it because I had made a few typos. What you're currently using is known as the No True Scotsman fallacy. You can't decide who is part of a group and who isn't, especially for a religion. Every act carried out by someone of a group represents that group, no matter how much others wish it doesn't. If you want people to act like a 'True' christian, You have to change their future actions towards the ideal.
also (assuming u got my other comment), real christianity isn't a religion. I know that sounds weird, but a religion is where u obey rules cos u have to, to get to a better place. Real christianity is where u have a relationship with God, and obey him because u want to, because u love him. For instance, if u have a wife or girlfriend, u don't do things they like cos ur scared they'll judge u, u do it cos u want 2 please them and see them happy. Pretty sure u've never come across that before...
OK here's yet another pointless fact on yt. Ian Hislop, Paul Merton & Frank Skinner are'nt Athiests btw. According to Wikipedia (the great god of knowledge) , Paul & Frank are Catholic & Ian is Anglican.
Since God can be under any form and everywhere He likes, of course He can be a simple human being. AND INDEED HE IS. To know the accurate answer and how to deal with the God Almighty you daily face in the mirror, just type in YouTube Search: "WE GOD ALMIGHTY" or "THE ALMIGHTY GOD WITHIN" or "GOD THE PARTNER." Do it now. Become his Partners. Practice RPR in AR. Build World Capitals. Raise the world to the next level of civilization for all to enjoy. Good Luck and be Well.
Putting an advert on the side of a bus is hardly going to change anyones entire outlook on life. Are we getting a "David Beckham's new purfume stinks" campaign next?
@TheColaGoodfellow Which of the Tens of thousands of gods is that one then? And if she is from the bible what version of the tens of thousands of true and accurate bibles is she from?
I can tell you haven't ever actually studied the Hebrew Language, otherwise you would have known that it does not include the letters 'J' or 'W'. It was written as 'YHVH' In Hebrew.
The author of Exodus made up the explanation that Yahweh is somehow related to the verb hayah "to be" and the first person singular present tense form ehyeh. He was making a theological point which has no basis in linguistic facts. Go back to school son.
Even if I was wrong in that aspect, it doesn't change the fact that by description an all powerful, omnipresent and self sustaining thing (a God) does exist, you should know it as reality/existance/the state of being.
The fact that Gods other names were "I am" or "I am that I am" also stands firmly behind those similarities.
Please don't tell me (or yourself) that existance isn't all powerful and self-sustaining, seriously.
instead of bashing christianity and God why don't you question your belief in evolution! thats a pretty extraordinary claim! thus needs more then extraordiany roofs! which you guys do not have! as we do! we see God do things! heck we are here thats proof enough! get lost calgary does not want your stupid hateful lying speeches!
@sh9683 Stop deludeing yourself and be rational. Has it ever occurred to you that the people that told you all the Christianity stuff, like any other religion actually want you to believe it so you either;
a) give them money. Note the Catholic church. One only has to go around the Vatican and see the immense wealth exploited from people, by frightening them about what will happen when they die, with threats of excommunication.
b) Do as they tell you. Note all religions. Fear of death etc..
@bigear69 j not deluding myself, i chose to believe on my own will not because some person told me to, Christianity isn't a religion it means only to follow jesus and do as he would! and no christianity isn't like all other religions because christianity isn't a religion!
btw i am not catholic and i do not like there religion! i know very well what catholics have done! but like i said i am not catholic!
as christians we do not fear death, for our soul will escape it, we will live for ever !
@sh9683 Christianity isn't a religion? Please explain this rather idiosyncratic statement further, i'd just like to know how you work that one out. Thanks.
@PlanetBongoSan christianity only mean Christ follower! if you follow a band or someone is it then a religion? no its not, amd neither does following Christ make it a religion!
@sh9683 ok well thanks thats very interesting point of view. its certainly true that there are many possible definitons of the word 'religion' and none of them seem to be completely satisfactory. Personally, i do class christianity as a religion, simply because you are the first christian i have ever encountered who disagrees. I am not religious or a christian, so i'm not seeking to impose my own judgement on the issue; i simply go with the clearest majority view of those concerned. Good day.
@PlanetBongoSan well who do you talk to? catholics? because they are a religion and yet consider themselves christian. all my friends that are christians don't consider themselves part of a religion. but yes i agree a lot have turned it into religion, but it really is just a relationship with Christ! we are also to speak of him to others, but as far as im concerned christianity isn't a religion!
@sh9683 I've often wondered what people mean when they say they have a 'relationhip with christ'; to answer your question, I speak with people from a range of christian denominations, not just catholics, and many of them use this phrase. However they will often go on to profess to vastly different ideas about jesus's character. And i ask myself, if they all have a relationship with the same person/god/entity, how is it that they all have such different ideas about what he wants?
We can't prove anything. For example, if someone believes this entire world is nothing more than a figment of someone's imagination, and we are nothing more than actors in their dream world, how do you disprove that?
Oh Hislop, why did you ever stop being an atheist..
During his long stint as a devout atheist, you would think he would have realized atheists do not indefinantly propose that there is no god, we simply excert that there is no reason to believe there is.
@BelfastAtheist No that would make you an agnostic or if you want to be really fussy an agnostic atheist, atheism as defined by philosophy is the firm believe or decision that there is no god or gods. Exerting lack of reason to believe is merely a piece of the argument as opposed to the conclusion of the argument.
Oh come on, I left a comment 7 Months ago and people are still arguing Semantics with me? Look, I've already explained this to someone else who replied to my comment a few Months back. My point was that while Atheism itself (Semantically-speaking) asserts there is no God, only a fool would actually take this positition. Even the 'New atheists' like Hitchens and Dawkins all agree that asserting there is *definantly* no God is fool and these are the 'militants'.
@SaintLouisX Wrong, there is no such thing as an agnostic. What we commonly know as agnostics are actually agnostic atheists. Gnosticism and Agnosticism go to what you claim to know, and Theism and Atheism go to what you believe.
@Ni73sh4d3 That's a new one on me. Explain how there are no agnostics. If you believe there is a higher being, you can't believe there is no god. If you believe there is no god, you can't believe there is a higher being. Your statement makes no sense.
@HimesInu Like I said Gnosticism and Agnosticism go to knowledge, whereas Atheism and Theism go to belief. If someone is agnostic they don't claim to know whether or not god exists, but on its own it doesn't tell what the person believes.
@Ni73sh4d3 But my problem with your statement is you call agnostics atheists. As I stated before, and I know this well since my ex was agnostic, they believe there is a higher being. That is a theistic stance, not an atheistic stance. That's all I'm going at.
@HimesInu No I am not, I am saying it is a common misconception and that most of them are actually agnostic atheists. Your ex was simply an agnostic theist. He believed in a god but did not claim to know there was one.
@BelfastAtheist I think you're mixing Atheists up with Agnostics. Atheists believe that there is no God and that's the end of it, while Agnostics believe there may be a God but they feel there isn't enough proof to justify that.
Read my previous comments! For Christs sake, you're like the Fourth person to leave me exactly the same comment; the one I have repeatedly explained various times throughout the past EIGHT MONTHS..
@BelfastAtheist Whoa! Why all the hate? I didn't see any of your comments and I assumed no one else had pulled you up on it because your comment was in highest rated comments.
@WubZers -- Actually, with all due respect, I think you're mistaken. IIRC, Atheists believe that there is no god or gods because either there is not enough proof to justify as such or simply haven't given it the thought. Buddhism, for example, is an atheistic religion. Agnostics believe that the existence of a god or gods is unknowable, hence "a-" meaning no, and "gnosis" meaning knowledge. Agnostics can be both theistic or atheistic.
@BelfastAtheist atheism gives eternal death while Christ Jesus gives eternal life. so per you atheists simply exert that they prefer eternal death over eternal life.
"atheism gives eternal death while Christ Jesus gives eternal life. so per you atheists simply exert that they prefer eternal death over eternal life."
TROLL ALERT!! TROLL ALERT!!
Victor, you cannot censor or block on this channel, your tyranny is unnacceptable here. Quit making threats of death, to be such an asshole is without excuse. Take your superstition and go away.
@FindingTruthToday indoctronated alert. non critical thinker displays himself in public. religion is the security blanket for unfortunate people like yourself. good mental health to you.love and peace.
@kram83au I agree that many people hold to religion as a security blanket as it makes them feel better in some way i.e., atheists practice the religion of ignorance of God, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, and Catholics practice a religion of works . That’s why the Bible teaches against religion; it is manmade and leads people away from God.
"atheists practice the religion of ignorance of God, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, and Catholics practice a religion of works ."
Everyone but you Victor? Isn't that a little harsh? Where is the censorship and tyranny and blocking of those that disagree that you practice taught in the bible? How about repeating untruths? Or knowingly quoting out of context to put a spin on the truth? Why do you lie Victor?
@BelfastAtheist ..and presumably that also necessitates believing that one should be semi-literate. Ah, the joys of the internet, giving a voice to the lumpen proletariat.
I've just watched a video on your page (entitled "Ban the Burka") which made me want to bang my head repeatedly against a wall. If you're going to get all high and mighty about matters of intellect, you should first practice proper grammar. Failure to do so makes you appear to be a bit of a Berk. Get it?
Evidently, you're the only one who cares, you peevish cunt. Oh, attacking minor grammatical errors.. the true sign of intellect! Way to utterly destroy my argument that you didn't even mention.. ^')
Oh and yes, I agree with several of the remarks made by PatCondell (The other Youtube user whose arguments you are attacking, without even attempting to explain the reasons why) - so I decided to favourite the video and get him a few more views. You'll notice he doesn't advocate banning the Burqa, or Hajib or Niqab at all.. nor do I, because it's impossible to police. Either explain your remarks and define your argument, or be quiet. Until that, kindly suck my fucking cock?
''If we were a more honest society and therefore a more healthy society, there would be no need to ban this ridiculous garment, as it would *already* have been ridiculed out of existence''.
That made you bang your head, really? Huh.. I get the distinct impression that you're merely a peevish little runt.
Oh, you didn't even point out the alleged grammatical errors. One would think, if you're such a pedantic, gaping orifice - you would have done so. Failure to do so, makes you appear to be a bit of a berk. Get it?
I inadvertendly typed out ''excert'' instead ''assert'' - however that's a matter of nomenclature, it has precisely nothing to do with my (From what I can tell) perfect Grammar. I'll be waiting... for a very long time by the look of things.
Hmm... let's see. You're twenty years of age, you include Mulholland Drive as one of your favourite films, and you presume to speak on behalf of the atheist movement. Yes, undoubtedly a textbook case of pretentiouswankerism. You wouldn't happen to also be a student would you? That would just about top it off.
How could one possibly resist pointing out the gaping grammatical errors of one so high and mighty?
I'm 20 Years old... yes, I am a student. What great feats were you getting up to when you were 20, might I ask? For either definitions of 'pretentious' - I fail to see how your criteria quite includes me..
I do not presume to speak on behalf of the atheist 'movement', most of what I watch/discuss on Youtube is centred around Politics.. I know my username includes the phrase 'atheist' - which of course makes me a Militant, but I've been sinking into Apatheism for a while now.
Well.. you attack me first of all for apparent grandiloquence, then attack me for being pompous. I really can't win now can I?
Anyways..people will infer from your comments that you're the guy who clicked my profile and looked for a Movie I like to bicker with me about. Kudos, everyone will think you're an ass.
@BelfastAtheist You don't seem to realize that "grandiloquent" is essentially a synonym for "pompous". So insist that you can win. Just stop being so bombastic, pretentious and magniloquent.
Not just any movie: a lynch movie. Every Lynch film is massively pretentious. He's a hack who gets glorified by pretentious student types who think that he's so intellectual, and that they "get" something the rest of us "regular" movie watchers don't.
Magniloquent.. that's a brilliant word, thanks - I didn't know that one. Yep, Lynch is indeed quite a pretentious fellow (bloke?) but I don't find Muholland Drive to be anywhere near as pretentious as his other works. Hell, I even still enjoy Twin Peaks.. which from my own knowledge, scarcely has any form of Student fanbase.
Again, you're speaking in a very presumptuous fashion - *you* get lynch, *you* understand his fans.
@BelfastAtheist Again, I can't recall insinuating that you have no friends. If I did, then it was indeed a very childish thing to do. You'll have to clarify precisely which comment gave you that impression.
@BelfastAtheist I just don't see what business it is of his. I mean, personally I think it's a bit ludicrous, but if they want to wear a burqa then that's their choice. He also said that there is nothing in the Koran about women covering up their faces, but that's not true.
Didn't he say the Quran doesn't mention Burqas, specifically? Because it sort of doesn't..
Again, you're acting kinda peevish.. he didn't say it shouldn't be a womans choice, he said it's so ridiculous the question of banning it shouldn't come up. Is that controversial for you?
What is it in particular about Mullholland Drive that makes you so irate? You haven't clearly defined your parameters for any of your assertions, so as being a student and studying Popper has taught me - your argument is essentially baseless. Of course until I finish my Degree, anything I say can be counted as the naive warblings of a pretentious student? Well.. that sure is some impressive illogic. If arguing semantics with me is really the best you can do..

oh shut up with "we". I am an Atheist and you know shit about me. I simply dont believe in a god. Understand? There are many reaons why people believe in a god. Read the definition of Atheism, man!
Didn't mention the definition, I mentioned the belief system. All four of the 'New atheists' for example, all agree with me. Anyways, it's been 11 months.. I'm really getting to hate having the highest rated comment. Will you people stop leaving me messages? I don't care anymore.
ATheism isn't a belief system. IF it is, then it becomes like religion. Theism and ATheism are equal and opposites by neutral definition. And you, sir, don't care anymore because you are smart and sane enough to realize that Atheism is an idea, just like theism, and it's insitutions like religion and politics that use and corrupt both. Good day.
I think you do care. I think your an Atheist because you think it makes you seem a lot less like a fool. Being an Atheist simply means you don't believe in a higher power. It doesn't make you better than someone with a different view. The video isn't really much about how loverly Atheism is. It makes fun at the absurdity of people who use Atheism and theism as a political identity when in fact they are just (dis)beliefs. Now, Get lost.
Put up with opinions different from your's for a year? It must have been hard for you. A facist totalitarian state would be much easier for you, won't it. I'll leave you to think you are 100% right about things. You can bask in your own kind of truth. And do you tell people to suck bags of dick often? Isn't that a bit...weird?
It's a [dis]belief, just like believing in "faeries" is Just a belief. Nothing really worth fighting for or devoting your entire life to. Might as well wrry about what's happening in the real world rather than devoting your life on a probability that will never be sort out.
All u need to know is that is that theism and atheism are equal and opposite beliefs/ideas and that neither has been decidedas the truth [not related to religion which is an instituation of theist beliefs], so promoting a belief is fact without knowing it to be is not healthy. Dont use a red herring please. it shows that u know ur perspect of Atheism and theism is questionable. Thanks
@MothRoom You are wrong. That is not all I need to know. Atheist is not equal/opposite to theism. Rejecting a claim is not equal/opposite to that claim, your assertion which has no evidence to back it up.
You're an unreliable source of information.
You said Atheism is an idea. Atheism is NOT an idea, is it the REJECTION OF A CLAIM.
One is NOT equal to the other.
If I am wrong, explain to me how Atheism can be "equal and opposite"to all religions. Explain well or be rejected as unreliable.
It's my reliable opinion, i believe it's correct and you need to do a lot more than that to disprove it before you can bestow the burden of proof on me without having any evidence yourself. And by me being anunreliable source of information, wanna tell me why? ATHEISM IS A NEUTRAL TERM. I guess you didn't want to challenge that bit. The value of theism and Atheism are EQUAL, non is more better than the other. Understand?
by the way, I know what Atheism is, and it is what it says in the dictionary. However, it's definition isn't an indentity. It isn't worth flaunting with hubris just as being a theist isn't. You can trivialize my words but at the end of the day.....Atheism is a belief that there is no higher power. It's not a confirmed yet fact just like theism isn't. If you disagree, then without being a silly child, tell me why. Teach me like a teacher, don't preach like a bull shitter
@MothRoom Bullshitter eh? YOU didn't answer my question.
I asked you to EXPLAIN how Atheist is "equal and opposite" to all religions. You explanation is "The value of theism and Atheism are EQUAL, non is more better than the other. Understand?"
THATS NOT AN EXPLAINATION!!!
YOU JUST REPEATED YOURSELF!!!!
Bullshit eh? LOL
The brudon of proof is on the one making the claim. If I say I have Jesus sitting in my kitchen, is the burdon of proof on me, or should you have to prove me wrong?
@AllTheseWorldsAreUrs The burden of truth is on those who are absolute about their belief or others and believe their interpretation as facts. If you claim that theists are wrong with conviction, then the burden of truth is with you also. If they believe you are wrong, then its on them, too.Atheism and theism are opposite meanings, but that doesn't mean people should use such distinctions to start conflicts for the sake of their own self worth.Understand?And I thought fanatic theists were crazy
@MothRoom Oh..... I see.... now you're changing your comment to include the word "value". So you're not saying that Atheism is equal and opposite to all religions, but not you're saying that it has equal "value" to all of the world religions. That's pretty impressive, that Atheism has equal value to all the worlds religions put together, don't you think? :)
Where did you get such a high opinion of Atheism from? Don't bother to answer... You didn't answer my earlier question.
I mentioned ages ago that it's value was the same as theism because they are both neutral terms. A thiest can be a scientist, and doesn't necessarily have to be religious. Atheism and theism are beliefs, ideas and assumptions that are a part of people. So, you can't hate everyone for being A/theists. You seem to get upset because I think Atheism isn't as glamourous as you like it to be. I don't know what you mean by high opinion. It's nothing special, just like theism.
lol. It's a disbelief in a highpower or a lack of belief. nevertheless, being an atheist doesnt make you better than all theists, nor does it make you equal to all athiest, nor is Atheism significant or a quality trait in ones character. Its just one who doesnt believe in a god...thats all. It shouldnt be more than that as hignfu shows. understand?
@MothRoom If you're going to argue for atheism, please do it correctly. Atheism is not an 'equal and opposite belief' of anything - that is antitheism. Atheism is the default position, and you can describe it as if you had been born born, grew up with no knowledge whatsoever of gods or religion or anything. You've never heard of it before, therefore you are an atheist. You are not opposing anything, because you haven't heard of it before, but that is your default position.
Idiot., my point was that Atheism is as valuable as theism, and that neither should agressively oppose the other. They are equal and opposite in value and meaning. Anti theism is a dislike of theism which is a radical position to have. Theism and Atheism are neutral. Atheism is opposite to theism but not opposed to it. hignfu mocks how idiots promote something as benign as Atheism. We are not Atheists by default, because we don't decide whether we believe in god or not. idiot.
@trecool9992 ATheism is a rejection of belief in the existence of a deity. You are just screaming out me like a bitch over something smaller than the argument itself, so to convince yourself and idot others that you are completely right. Tell me, how can my general debating skills poor based on the definition I gave of Atheism, which isnt the main argument.You are trivializing, because your argument simply isn't worthy since it isn't even a reply to the bigger arguement you are trying to crush
@MothRoom Atheism is indeed simply lack of belief.. The prefix a means "without" and "theism" means theistic belief. There is no active process of "disbelieving" involved. In this way, yes, children are atheists. I think you are just hung up on the word Atheist, even though you claim to be one yourself it appears you don't like to use the word for what it really is.
@Braunche You can think what you like and believe it's fact not just your opinion.I was the one who stated that Atheism was a mere, neutral inactive word. You are not happy with my view that Atheism is neutral and that simply being Atheist isn't a quality.How can we all have started off as Atheist if most of us didnt care to have an opinion on the existence of god at a very young age?Atheists are those who do not believe in a higher power, not those who have no opinion on it. u glamorize Atheism
It seems like you are the one who doesn't get it. Just another militant Atheist finding a way to undermine an argument you dont like....with the least amount of intellectual effort. And the stuff in uppercase, well...I would never amplify my ignorants in public.
@MothRoom The capitals are emphasis to try to ram through your stupidity. You sit there defending a point which makes no sense with "you're wrong".
And militant atheist? Wtf does that even mean? I'm not even trying to defend atheism; I'm trying to knock the correct definition of a word into your wooden-block head, but it's not working. Oh well, I'll leave you to your intellectual and most likely social failure. You can't make many friends if you're always right, can you?
Your anti intellectualism is obvious. You say you are trying to knock the correct definition of Atheism into my "wooden blochead". That means, like a head sick person, you have ignored me correcting you on the definition because it means that you no longer have an argument., So, all you are doing is insulting me of bitterness. I dont see how this makes your intellectual capacity greater than mine. Do you? My definition is correct, but the definition isnt the main argument.
Hang on. Muslim? You hate muslims? I doubt just fundermental muslims because you are an Atheist, so you can justify your dislike for islam with fewer references to the other religions. Why didn't you say that I sound like a Religious nut, which includes all religions? Just another fukin right wing, deluded prat helpin the fuk up GB with your tiny self worth. Shit 4 brains, I am an Atheist. dont delude yourself in to thinking I am religious just so you feel less crazy. Got that?
I think you are defending Atheism against an Atheist [me].It's from your irrational outburst about the definition I gave, and only that.Are you telling me that you dont realize that you are arguing with me for nothing but your self esteem?I think you know I am not a blockhead, and you know the more you get pissed off with me. I pretty much shit on you, and you shit on yourself. I gather that from your projected insults, that you are havin social issues. Many of u about. cheers
You blew your cover, git. Just another self hating, fascist, who will be miserable until the bitter end. Go fuk yourself. Using Atheism to disguise your nasty, cockroach hate, just like your faggoty friends here. Be hnest about your ignorance. Dont try to hide it, son! Throwing tantrums over a definition you got wrong like a girl. Now I know why. you wasting my fukin time pretending to be sane. shiiiiiiiit!
@MothRoom OK, you seem annoyed that someone is arguing with you over a definition of a word when it's actually pretty obvious that what you're talking about is agnosticism. Atheism and agnosticism are different things and that is why they have different definitions!
And really... saying things like, "just like your faggoty friends here" and "you got wrong like a girl", doesn't help your argument, it just makes you look like a homophobic, sexist moron.
@DaewonSmith I gave the definition of Atheism.Don't try to minimize or intellectualize your mistake, it doesn't make it any less of an error, ok? Whether or not I come across as a homophobic sexist moron, doesn't deliver your argument from ignorants, So, pretty much red herring away from your error while trying to convince yourself that your argument is truer by something irrelevent like my bad language. How about actually defending Atheism properly with logic and reason? You are thick.
I made an error. I mistook you for Braunche, my bad. Obviously, you are just trying to defend his error for the sake a the same delusion. I offer my apologise for that. Still, you are thick for trying to defend a bigot againsts another bigot [me] just for the sake of agreeing with him on Atheism, and make up BS excuses to explain any misunderstanding. There are none. Dont take th anti intellectual route and try to presume stuff to ease your fragile soul. Thank you.
@MothRoom Me and this Braunche fellow are completely different people... I wasn't defending his every value, I merely picked up on a point on which you were mistaken. I wasn't accusing you or anyone else of being a bigot just picking up on a misuse of definitions. Now, calm down and stop calling people thick when you clearly have a tenuous grasp on the subject matter!
Arrogant fool. My definition wasn't Misused, and Braunch knew this, too. You say it's misused to defend him, with total disregead for hows bigotry, and your desire to only correct me on what we were both talking about. There were no misuses of deifinition, we both know what we were talking about. Don't patronize me, I will pick up on it. Nice try.
@MothRoom Fair enough. It was actually your way of discussion that put me off. You accuse me of being arrogant and patronising but in every comment in which you're talking to someone with a different view point to yourself you call them a "fool", a "git", a "faggot" or "thick" every couple of sentences. This is getting pretty tedious now anyway. Let's forget it and get on with our lives. Goodpie!
Do you reckon we could get some buses that carry this slogan, "There is probably no reason in being militant on ANY side of a debate on YouTube, so stop bickering and enjoy the video"?
yea, would a great and pwerful god need to send a mere man to announce his own existence? and who made god? something just doesnt pop up out of nowhere.
religion is the number one cause and war and genocide in this world...people killing and being killed over a fictional story.
While not being the least bit religious, I do object to people who are being called "stupid" just because of that. One of the comedians in this clip, Frank Skinner, is a very devout Christian but is also president of the Samuel Johnson Society. You don't get that gig if you're a stupid man, do you?
@kisbie I looked up both Frank Skinner and the Samuel Johnson Society and I see absolutely no connection between them whatsoever. So I'm afraid citation is needed.
@friartuck000 According to Chortle - the main website for news on British comedy - Skinner turned down the opportunity to play at a post-Mass concert in Hyde Park this September (the Mass being part of the Pope's upcoming tour of Britain) as he'll be going to a Johnson Society dinner that same night. It's there that he'll become its president. So, I got it a bit wrong - he actually doesn't hold that position yet. But he will.
@friartuck000 Oh, the story is headlined on Chortle as "Skinner shuns the Pope". And I've also just found it on The Guardian as "The Pope, Dr. Johnson, politics...and me".
Complete open-mindedness for the win! I think there's a chance that God doesn't exist, just like i think there's a chance God does. If there is a God, i'm more inclined to believe It has little or no interest in Human affairs, as there's an entire universe in addition to us. The religious view of God just doesn't make as much sense to me as it used to. If there's anyone there who does believe, carry on doing so, just keep your beliefs to those who want to hear them.
@vinnyflintoff The words we -should- live by, not the words we MUST live by. It's my ideal world, where no one's kicking off over who's storybook is the best-seller.
@beepandbop I'm actually licking LSD off a paint-splattered mirror at the moment, after which I intend to harvest genetically modified goji berries from my electronic hybrid-marijuana plantation and hack chunks of various cheeses of the strictly French variety off the moon. If anyone here is a monumental bore, my friend... it's you.
I would like to believe in a god but my rational mind won't let me.

Skarrrg 2 weeks ago
Well first of all, don't worry i'm not just some opinionated moron, even though my earlier comment implies it (sorry about that) and u deleting your comment implies u think it. But u have to realise the difference between real and fake christian. Fake christians will use phrases such as 'i don't consider atheists human', when that actually flatly contradicts 'love your neighbour as yourself'. Real christians are also open minded, use sound logic and don't hate atheists for what they think.
ThePb895 2 weeks ago
@ThePb895 Actually no, I removed it because I had made a few typos. What you're currently using is known as the No True Scotsman fallacy. You can't decide who is part of a group and who isn't, especially for a religion. Every act carried out by someone of a group represents that group, no matter how much others wish it doesn't. If you want people to act like a 'True' christian, You have to change their future actions towards the ideal.
Skarrrg 2 weeks ago
also (assuming u got my other comment), real christianity isn't a religion.

BelfastAtheist 9 months ago
@BelfastAtheist

Actually it's not. It is supported by all the evidence so far and no other theories have yet been proposed so most scientists consider it fact.
Whereas your claim that "we see God do things" has no evidence so some proof of your claim is required - otherwise it's just guesswork.
The fact that we are here is the outcome of evolution, not some imaginary god dreaming up something to do!

@sh9683 Stop deludeing yourself and be rational. Has it ever occurred to you that the people that told you all the Christianity stuff, like any other religion actually want you to believe it so you either;
a) give them money. Note the Catholic church. One only has to go around the Vatican and see the immense wealth exploited from people, by frightening them about what will happen when they die, with threats of excommunication.
b) Do as they tell you. Note all religions. Fear of death etc..

sh9683 1 year ago
@sh9683 ok well thanks thats very interesting point of view. its certainly true that there are many possible definitons of the word 'religion' and none of them seem to be completely satisfactory. Personally, i do class christianity as a religion, simply because you are the first christian i have ever encountered who disagrees. I am not religious or a christian, so i'm not seeking to impose my own judgement on the issue; i simply go with the clearest majority view of those concerned. Good day.
PlanetBongoSan 1 year ago
@PlanetBongoSan well who do you talk to? catholics? because they are a religion and yet consider themselves christian. all my friends that are christians don't consider themselves part of a religion. but yes i agree a lot have turned it into religion, but it really is just a relationship with Christ! we are also to speak of him to others, but as far as im concerned christianity isn't a religion!
sh9683 1 year ago
@sh9683 I've often wondered what people mean when they say they have a 'relationhip with christ'; to answer your question, I speak with people from a range of christian denominations, not just catholics, and many of them use this phrase. However they will often go on to profess to vastly different ideas about jesus's character. And i ask myself, if they all have a relationship with the same person/god/entity, how is it that they all have such different ideas about what he wants?

HoneyIEducatedTheWeb 11 months ago
@BelfastAtheist No that would make you an agnostic or if you want to be really fussy an agnostic atheist, atheism as defined by philosophy is the firm believe or decision that there is no god or gods. Exerting lack of reason to believe is merely a piece of the argument as opposed to the conclusion of the argument.
somethingrandom2 10 months ago

atheism isn't an absolute statement.
it is merely saying that theists haven't provided the necessary evidence to support their claim, therefore we do not believe.

BelfastAtheist 7 months ago
@SaintLouisX
Foolish*
Though, I now realize what Hislop was saying was probably facetious. Either way, regardless of semantics my original point still stands.
BelfastAtheist 7 months ago
@SaintLouisX Wrong, there is no such thing as an agnostic. What we commonly know as agnostics are actually agnostic atheists. Gnosticism and Agnosticism go to what you claim to know, and Theism and Atheism go to what you believe.
Ni73sh4d3 7 months ago
@Ni73sh4d3 That's a new one on me. Explain how there are no agnostics. If you believe there is a higher being, you can't believe there is no god. If you believe there is no god, you can't believe there is a higher being. Your statement makes no sense.
HimesInu 7 months ago
@HimesInu Like I said Gnosticism and Agnosticism go to knowledge, whereas Atheism and Theism go to belief. If someone is agnostic they don't claim to know whether or not god exists, but on its own it doesn't tell what the person believes.
Ni73sh4d3 7 months ago
@Ni73sh4d3 But my problem with your statement is you call agnostics atheists. As I stated before, and I know this well since my ex was agnostic, they believe there is a higher being. That is a theistic stance, not an atheistic stance. That's all I'm going at.
HimesInu 7 months ago
@HimesInu No I am not, I am saying it is a common misconception and that most of them are actually agnostic atheists. Your ex was simply an agnostic theist. He believed in a god but did not claim to know there was one.
Ni73sh4d3 7 months ago
@BelfastAtheist I think you're mixing Atheists up with Agnostics. Atheists believe that there is no God and that's the end of it, while Agnostics believe there may be a God but they feel there isn't enough proof to justify that.

WubZers 6 months ago
@WubZers -- Actually, with all due respect, I think you're mistaken. IIRC, Atheists believe that there is no god or gods because either there is not enough proof to justify as such or simply haven't given it the thought. Buddhism, for example, is an atheistic religion. Agnostics believe that the existence of a god or gods is unknowable, hence "a-" meaning no, and "gnosis" meaning knowledge. Agnostics can be both theistic or atheistic.

@MothRoom You are wrong. That is not all I need to know. Atheist is not equal/opposite to theism. Rejecting a claim is not equal/opposite to that claim, your assertion which has no evidence to back it up.

You said Atheism is an idea. Atheism is NOT an idea, is it the REJECTION OF A CLAIM.

Understand?
MothRoom 3 months ago
@AllTheseWorldsAreUrs
by the way, I know what Atheism is, and it is what it says in the dictionary.
MothRoom 3 months ago
Moron!
AllTheseWorldsAreUrs 3 months ago
@AllTheseWorldsAreUrs The burden of truth is on those who are absolute about their belief or others and believe their interpretation as facts. If you claim that theists are wrong with conviction, then the burden of truth is with you also. If they believe you are wrong, then its on them, too.Atheism and theism are opposite meanings, but that doesn't mean people should use such distinctions to start conflicts for the sake of their own self worth.Understand?And I thought fanatic theists were crazy
MothRoom 3 months ago
@MothRoom Oh..... I see.... now you're changing your comment to include the word "value". So you're not saying that Atheism is equal and opposite to all religions, but not you're saying that it has equal "value" to all of the world religions. That's pretty impressive, that Atheism has equal value to all the worlds religions put together, don't you think? :)
Where did you get such a high opinion of Atheism from? Don't bother to answer... You didn't answer my earlier question.
AllTheseWorldsAreUrs 3 months ago
@AllTheseWorldsAreUrs
MothRoom 3 months ago
Atheism is not the belief in a lack of, it's the lack of a belief in.
trecool9992 3 months ago
@trecool9992
lol. It's a disbelief in a highpower or a lack of belief. nevertheless, being an atheist doesnt make you better than all theists, nor does it make you equal to all athiest, nor is Atheism significant or a quality trait in ones character. Its just one who doesnt believe in a god...thats all. It shouldnt be more than that as hignfu shows. understand?
MothRoom 3 months ago
@MothRoom If you're going to argue for atheism, please do it correctly. Atheism is not an 'equal and opposite belief' of anything - that is antitheism. Atheism is the default position, and you can describe it as if you had been born born, grew up with no knowledge whatsoever of gods or religion or anything. You've never heard of it before, therefore you are an atheist. You are not opposing anything, because you haven't heard of it before, but that is your default position.
trecool9992 2 months ago
@trecool9992
We are not Atheists by default, because we don't decide whether we believe in god or not. idiot.
MothRoom 2 months ago
@MothRoom Oh for fuck sake. Do you not get it?
"We are not Atheists by default, because we don't decide whether we believe in god or not. idiot."
NO.
NO, NO, NO, NO, and NO.
Atheism is the LACK OF BELIEF in ANY SUPERNATURAL DEITY. NOT the DISBELIEF.
Just get off Youtube, kid. You've got the debating brain-power of a fucking moth, ironically.
trecool9992 2 months ago
@trecool9992 ATheism is a rejection of belief in the existence of a deity. You are just screaming out me like a bitch over something smaller than the argument itself, so to convince yourself and idot others that you are completely right. Tell me, how can my general debating skills poor based on the definition I gave of Atheism, which isnt the main argument.You are trivializing, because your argument simply isn't worthy since it isn't even a reply to the bigger arguement you are trying to crush
MothRoom 2 months ago
@MothRoom Atheism is indeed simply lack of belief.. The prefix a means "without" and "theism" means theistic belief. There is no active process of "disbelieving" involved. In this way, yes, children are atheists. I think you are just hung up on the word Atheist, even though you claim to be one yourself it appears you don't like to use the word for what it really is.
Braunche 2 months ago
@Braunche You can think what you like and believe it's fact not just your opinion.I was the one who stated that Atheism was a mere, neutral inactive word. You are not happy with my view that Atheism is neutral and that simply being Atheist isn't a quality.How can we all have started off as Atheist if most of us didnt care to have an opinion on the existence of god at a very young age?Atheists are those who do not believe in a higher power, not those who have no opinion on it. u glamorize Atheism
MothRoom 2 months ago
@trecool9992
It seems like you are the one who doesn't get it. Just another militant Atheist finding a way to undermine an argument you dont like....with the least amount of intellectual effort. And the stuff in uppercase, well...I would never amplify my ignorants in public.
MothRoom 2 months ago
@MothRoom The capitals are emphasis to try to ram through your stupidity. You sit there defending a point which makes no sense with "you're wrong".
And militant atheist? Wtf does that even mean? I'm not even trying to defend atheism; I'm trying to knock the correct definition of a word into your wooden-block head, but it's not working. Oh well, I'll leave you to your intellectual and most likely social failure. You can't make many friends if you're always right, can you?
trecool9992 2 months ago
@trecool9992
MothRoom 2 months ago
@MothRoom Christ, you sound like a fundamentalist Muslim or something.
"you have ignored me correcting you on the definition because it means that you no longer have an argument"
Really? I mean, come on. Are you being serious here?
trecool9992 2 months ago
@trecool9992
Hang on. Got that?
MothRoom 2 months ago
@trecool9992
Many of u about. cheers

@MothRoom Is a maths teacher defending maths when he tells a student they're using it incorrectly?
And that is why I still think you have a stone-stubborn mind. You've got some Googling to do. Better run now!
trecool9992 2 months ago
@trecool9992
MothRoom 2 months ago
@MothRoom OK, you seem annoyed that someone is arguing with you over a definition of a word when it's actually pretty obvious that what you're talking about is agnosticism. Atheism and agnosticism are different things and that is why they have different definitions!
And really... saying things like, "just like your faggoty friends here" and "you got wrong like a girl", doesn't help your argument, it just makes you look like a homophobic, sexist moron.
DaewonSmith 1 month ago
@DaewonSmith I gave the definition of Atheism.Don't try to minimize or intellectualize your mistake, it doesn't make it any less of an error, ok? Whether or not I come across as a homophobic sexist moron, doesn't deliver your argument from ignorants, So, pretty much red herring away from your error while trying to convince yourself that your argument is truer by something irrelevent like my bad language. How about actually defending Atheism properly with logic and reason? You are thick.
MothRoom 1 month ago
@DaewonSmith
Thank you.
MothRoom 1 month ago
@MothRoom Me and this Braunche fellow are completely different people... I wasn't defending his every value, I merely picked up on a point on which you were mistaken. I wasn't accusing you or anyone else of being a bigot just picking up on a misuse of definitions. Now, calm down and stop calling people thick when you clearly have a tenuous grasp on the subject matter!
DaewonSmith 1 month ago
@DaewonSmith
Nice try.
MothRoom 4 weeks ago
@MothRoom Fair enough. It was actually your way of discussion that put me off. You accuse me of being arrogant and patronising but in every comment in which you're talking to someone with a different view point to yourself you call them a "fool", a "git", a "faggot" or "thick" every couple of sentences. This is getting pretty tedious now anyway. Let's forget it and get on with our lives. Goodpie!
DaewonSmith 3 weeks ago
@trecool9992 No it's not. That's agnosticism.
kevfulchester 2 months ago
@kevfulchester agnosticism is the lack of knowledge. It comes from gnosis, it's greek.: "A" means without.
ArchhereticK 2 months ago
@kevfulchester Agnosticism is the indecision or lack of a precise opinion or view, I think you'll find.

JennelleBelle 1 year ago
While not being the least bit religious, I do object to people who are being called "stupid" just because of that. One of the comedians in this clip, Frank Skinner, is a very devout Christian but is also president of the Samuel Johnson Society. You don't get that gig if you're a stupid man, do you?
kisbie 1 year ago
@kisbie I looked up both Frank Skinner and the Samuel Johnson Society and I see absolutely no connection between them whatsoever. So I'm afraid citation is needed.
friartuck000 1 year ago
@friartuck000 According to Chortle - the main website for news on British comedy - Skinner turned down the opportunity to play at a post-Mass concert in Hyde Park this September (the Mass being part of the Pope's upcoming tour of Britain) as he'll be going to a Johnson Society dinner that same night. It's there that he'll become its president. So, I got it a bit wrong - he actually doesn't hold that position yet. But he will.
kisbie 1 year ago
@friartuck000 Oh, the story is headlined on Chortle as "Skinner shuns the Pope". And I've also just found it on The Guardian as "The Pope, Dr. Johnson, politics...and me".

Countries going to war over religion is like 2 people arguing over who has the best imaginary friend.
Zeph100 1 year ago
Complete open-mindedness for the win! I think there's a chance that God doesn't exist, just like i think there's a chance God does. If there is a God, i'm more inclined to believe It has little or no interest in Human affairs, as there's an entire universe in addition to us. The religious view of God just doesn't make as much sense to me as it used to. If there's anyone there who does believe, carry on doing so, just keep your beliefs to those who want to hear them.
Peace for all
