The term "hacker" had started straight after Bill had registered his OS and started to build his billions on something that was suposed to be free. All the "hacker" thingie started from the line "Information needs to be free" and those who reasoned so are now old and weren't kids using scripts but scientists with high ideals. One more win for consumism and more underground battles for those who use their brain and soul in the same time. Peace

The term hacker didn't start with computers in the sense of software. It started with phreaking, and getting understanding how systems worked in the first place.

i don't think he really did the term "hacker" justice. the original hackers weren't categorised with colors of hats. the media and pop culture labeled the original "crackers" (what you might think of as "black hat" hackers) with the term hackers, completely mixing them up with the real hackers which were basically the first unix programmers and problem solvers. if you want a good idea of what the difference is, google "how to become a hacker" first link should be a guide by Eric Steven Raymond.

I was Blackhat. But had stopped a few months ago. Now I'm starting to use the programming knowledge I learned (Perl, Java etc). I've never had a problem with Whitehat's or Greyhat's. I was just mainly a tool creator, (DDoS etc) You get the point.

learn what hacking REALLY is. That isn't hacking and you aren't black hat. At all. Hacking is typing in the code by yourseld listening to the *click* of your mouse, exploring, learning, seeking knowledge. Hacking isn't 'Cheat engine' or some trainer that some guy made for you. Hacking is an art that only you can do by yourself. Learn what hacking is. You aren't even close to a newbie hacker.

How can you have a discussion about hackers and forget to mention that what is portrayed in the media as hackers are actually crackers? Hacker use to be a term used to describe someone who writes code, and not someone who uses/finds exploits.
