A Fukushima worker recently tweeted that there is a rumor at the Fukushima plant that Yoshida was forced to resign by management, with his health situation given as the reason. The worker states Yoshida fought for them, and it's to management's benefit to get rid of him.

Fukushima head Masao Yoshida quit suddenly in Nov saying “A condition was discovered during a regular medical check..I had no choice but to be hospitalised at very short notice for treatment.” It's rumored it's cancer. Look at his lumpy neck in the video. Cesium radiation exposure can cause thyroid cancer.

Yoshida ordered saltwater dumped in reactors, destroying them & saving workers' lives, against TEPCO's direct orders.TEPCO censured him, though PM Kan backed him up. The workers respect him.

Going by the International Journal of cancers paper on Chernobyl - if the total Fukushima release was ~1/10th that of Chernobyl then we can expect to see an increase in approximately 2500 cancers that result in fatalities over the next 80 years in Japan. But who knows where medical advances will bring us in the future, ,maybe that figure will be lower? I hope it is.
