His own parents threatened him with homelessness unless he joined an "ex-gay" CULT to be held incommunicado and to endure physical and spiritual TORTURE for 14 months. Check out the ex-gay survivors videos. They are growing in number & express the major problems and cracks in the professional ex-gay industry. It is an industry that makes multi-millions of dollars on book sales, talks, "therapy" sessions and so forth. It is also politically motivated in many cases for if religious conservatives did not have this ex-gay crap to prop up as "change" they really would look like heartless barbarians & they could never appear like that and get any public support.

If he wants to go into a private clinic, what business is that of anybody else? I'm sorry, but he's an adult, he can make his own mind up on things. He is not required to live a gay lifestyle if he doesn't choose to- and perhaps he thinks, rightly or wrongly, that this clinic might help him in whatever choices he wants to make. It remains for everyone else to butt out and let him make his own mind up.

Nobody really knows the pressure his parents put him under- if any- but he's ultimately made a choice to enter this clinic. It doesn't sound like a kidnapping, rather something he(presumably) would have had to sign up to himself and consent to.

Actually any dependent child under the age of 24 attending a institution of higher learning is still considered a child for many things, including being added to their parents' insurance policy and the like.

I do agree that being 23 is not like being 16 years old however, in close knit families and communities, children do tend to stay home a bit longer.
