Just heard her sing ELISIR in Chicago and she was excellent. The voice sounds terrific in a big house: Chicago is huge! AN excellent technique and good taste with no mannerisms.
Just saw her as Musetta in La Boheme, the movie. (with Villazon, Netrebko, etc., 2008) Demanding presence; terrific acting, all to add to a lovely lyrIcal soprano voice. Named 2005 Winner of the BBC Singer of the World Competition in Cardiff, Wales, she has since garnered prizes for her recordings. Bravo, Nicole!
The basic sound is gorgeous, and there are some lovely touches, but overall it lacks cohesion and a sort of 'vision' of the aria - not that it is great music, of course. I think her real home lies in music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Hmm...operissimo84 made a statement about how she can't be heard in the theatre...what's that all about? Must every operatic voice be heard in a 2,000 - 4,000 seat barn? Most of the stuff she'll sing wasn't meant to be played in houses that large, anyway. Can't we agree that she's got a beautifully produced voice? Give props where props are due.
I agree -- I hate this idea that if the voice can't be heard that well in an F-ing HUGE hall that it's not "big enough." The opera houses these days are too large! The old houses were more like today's Broadway theaters.
I agree completely. I have her CD and i can't get amazed enogh over her exquisite technique. Most of all arias i love her way of singing Bellini's Giulietta. She is going to be the next spinto soprano of our era.
Absolutely beautiful..

very pretty leggiero. I think it reminds me of Moffo a little bit. She's polished.

deep she sounds like Moffo - unfortunately Nicole Cabell's high notes and coloraturas are not good.

This is beautiful singing, full of expression and color. Why are you so angry? Did you have a bad day? Go pick on someone else.

And she CAN very well be heard in the theater. I've seen her live and the voice cuts extremely well over a large orchestra in a 3500 seat house!

Spinto soprano? She's a nice and sweet leggiero. Quite frankly don't get any of the hype but to each their own.

This is worth it most of all for the frightening picture of Joan Sutherland at 3:21... hilarious!

@operissimo84 Non e vero. La ho visto cantare al Chicago Lyric nel spettacolo Pearl Fishers e la ascolto perfectamente!
