  • any one remmeber what they say when the necrons is assulting the tau? cant find it on youtube

  • Fuckin' hated this mission. Once I dug in, I built 24 points worth of assault marines and rushed the ethereal.

  • Thank God I had an Honor Guard of Kans and a Mega Armor Nob. These fuckers barely have me two minutes to set up some fortifications before they swarmed me like a pack of Zerg. 'Eavy Storm Boyz, Nobz and Shootas dropped to them like flies without their upgrades. The Kan and the Armor nob, and Gorgutz were the only ones left after a full five minutes of fighting, and it was only seven minutes in. I love facing these guys, they always give me a challange...Until I bring out the upgrades and tanks.

  • They reminds me of the Neimoidians from Star Wars universe. Perhaps thats where GW draw their inspiration from. I remember they introduced the Tau into the 40k universe soon after the Phantom Menace.

  • For me, the most easiest base to conquer will be the necrons. They suck.

  • o ops didnt read the comment below me nvm

  • can u play in these stronghold missions like u defend ur base instead of invadeing the other base. srry i want to get this game and im jsut wondering

  • i have to say, out of all the races in Dawn of War, the tau are about the only ones that aint had some major screw up in thee past, or are so pessemistic and dark. they actualy are tyin to make the galaxy a better place

  • The killing blow is the one where you get the greater knarlock.. yet they has crisis battlesuits? I know it's a stronghold but.. not fair D:

  • @firelord699 The Gnarloc comes with either Tower. The Killing Blow grants Crisis Suits and the Hammerhead Gunship, while the Patient Hunter grants Kroot Hounds and Krootox beasts. No matter which one you pick, though, the Gnarloc can be trained and released.

I always go with the Patient Hunter for the extra Research you get for it.

  • If you ask me Dark Crusade would have been a lot more fun if the AI could attack your Stronghold. It would have been sweet to have to defend Or'es Tash'n while playing as Tau.

  • @TheAle89515

It could happen, I had the eldar move into the Tau stronghold on the hardest difficulty once. It's just a standard skirmish in defensive.

  • @animerox1341 On what map? The Or'es Tash'n map? Is your base located where the Tau main base is when you attack Tash'n?

  • @TheAle89515 yep

  • @TheAle89515 The AI can attack your stronghold, however you dont get all of the buildings and units that you would have to face if you were the one attacking. So basically its just an ordinary battle but if you lose it you lose the game.

  • Started off with the Dark Reaper, Howling Banshee and Ranger honour guard squads. Killed the pathfinders, researched shroud asap then let the rangers pick off the rest while farseer, reapers and builders hunker down in the webway. All done on hard mode. Long story short, attacking the Tau stronghold first would be a good idea, don't leave it til late game when they hit you with EVERYTHING in the beginning. Then attack necron stronghold next, they can be a mighty pain as well if left to grow.

  • @Enkazed What I did was Necron, IG, Chaos, SM, Orkz then Eldar. Easiest Strat, take all Strategic points then mass Hammer Heads

  • ....Tau are Chinese?

  • Just finished the campaign with Tau. Damn them Hammerheads kick some serious butt!

  • I nearly beat the game as the Tau all I had left was chaos(Necrons got owned by chaos). I couldn't get any new areas though because they spamed me with berserkers and obliterators. Any new units I made got owned as soon as they stepped out of the turret perimeter.

  • Empire of Japan in space

  • @StarfireAlpha actually its more like the U.N with an empire

  • they sound korean

  • Those Croot that are eating those space marines will soon be :

FOR THE EMPRAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .......... I MEAN GREATER GOOD .

  • Lol 0:46 Giant Space Chicken

  • The Tau have the most insane stronghold missions.

The only way they could be made harder is:

Add in Orca Dropship bombing attacks.

    Stealthsuits continually infiltrating your base.

    Fire Warrior SNIPERS.

Kroot attacking while Fire Warriors stand back and let loose plasma rain.

Drone squads buried at every junction.

  • I just beat the Tau Stronghold as the Eldar. Gotta love two hyper-advanced alien races having a big clash: Space Chinese VS Space Elves XD

Seriously though, it was a great victory for Craft-world Ulthwe. These naive children with their crude technology and foolish ideology stood no chance. We Eldar shall rise again!

  • Tau is Very Easy if your the Necrons the others are Hard Because they Have snipers but I admit.Tau are Strong as the Necrons.Tau Got High Tech and NEcrons can be Alive again by the Lord

  • I've never try to win this battle... I only play Tau or Imperial guards, but I only finish the campaign with the tau... For dah greater Good!

  • I really hated this assault the most...those fucking Tau's kept harrassing my army while constructing men and defence,,,never i wanna do this mission again...

  • i cant beat this stronghold at all with SM cant even get to the ethereal

  • I think the SM stronghold speech is more epic.....and I'm sooo not saying that as a SM player XD

  • Most. Frustrating. Scenario. Ever.

  • Comment removed

  • I HATE THE XV15 Stealth Suit Teams because when i was the Imperial Guard, they kept killing my Guardsmen. And Damaging my Baneblade

  • I thought it was funny when I had Chaos Marines they managed to wipe out that attack at 1:30

  • TRIUMP

  • in the campaign, i learn from the tau to defeat the tau with the statement "the patient hunter gets the prey"

  • space marines are the greatest

  • howcome when your fighting against a computer tau they are able to build the mont'ka command post and the Kauyon command post in the same battle, when I try it, it doesn't allow me. And, How can the computer Tau get infantry and vehicles that obviously go over the vehicle cap ( max /20), when I try it it says pop full, plz reply!

  • @Nochet. That is the special event of the Tau stronghold. All strongholds have specail objectives and events. (Not sure about Chaos)

  • maybe because they are actually two. just maybe correct me if im wrong

  • Because computers cheat. Try a skirmish and when the battle is over, look at the resources - the computer will spend more req. and power than they ever gained! However, in campaign, there are special circumstances for strongholds.

  • I think when you do a stronghold battle, your actually fighting several teams all named the same so it looks like a one team is doing all this.

  • My strategie if your space marines first conquer a province with the dreadnaught to destroy the their vehicles then your honor guard unit such as the space marine guy upgrade him with a heavy bolter and if you have 2 upgrade one anti vehicle then put him in the left because the vehicles will attack in the left while the infantry will attack in the right

  • lol at the tau and ig fanboys fighting

  • the hardest stronghold in the game. only one i was overrun and forced to retreat. in most missions, if you survive the initial wave, you'll be fine.

  • I agree, this one was the hardest. Mainly because of the Tau's range ability with basic soldiers. That and the fact they sent their Knarlocs after me quite soon after I arrived.

  • Luckily for me, when ever I played Campaign one of the other races defeated the Tau before I had the chance to.

  • i invaded the place with SM once BUT i didn't follow the of BRUTE FORCE i followed the famous and effective way the codex astartes names this menuever STEEL REHN YES YOU HEARD ME I USED STEEL REHN AND IT WORKED ITS PROBABLY THE MOST EASIEST TACTIC FOR THE SPEHSS MAHRENSS

  • Ok who else played guard and tried to do it with the vindcator assains alone. Took a lot of tries but I did it. : D

  • vindicare is awesome i killed instantly crisis and those entrenched units with him to make it easy for my infantry to attack the final base. after that killing the ethereal with the assasin was piece of cake(i spammed lightning arc to the fire warrior bodyguards just in case)

  • I cheated a bit when I played against them with the IG. Moved an assassin into the Tau base, popped the pathfinders, found a good spot, and killed the Ethereal as he did his 200th lap around the base.

  • thets not cheating brother thets being tactical

    good job.

  • @jubokusa

I had my Daemon Prince after the Ethereal, Bloodthirster after the Commander and the rest on the buildings.

  • LOL the Tau accents remind me of 100% chinese born people

  • asians aliens! =D

  • true dat

  • Well, the Tau -are- Space Communists ;P

  • This stronghold is by far the toughest to destroy. I played against the Tau with the Necrons, and if it wasn't for the Monolith and the constant use of the Resurrection Orb and the Nightbringer's essence, I would have been overrun by endless Fire Warriors bastards and flea-like Kroots. Bloody aliens. Least I got my revenge by impaling the Ethereal under the Nightbringer's scythe.

P.S: No offence for the so-called Greater Good followers.

  • no, its just playing as necrons that makes it so hard. I only managed as my leaders body lay directly next to the Ethereal and i kept resurrecting him. Play as Orks or Chaos and you will destroy the Tau with ease

  • I did this with all of the factions. THAT was a bitch and a half especially when i was setting up with the Space Marines and Chaos.

  • I agree, I played with all the factions ,and the Tau stronghold is the hardest in the game, because the AI likes to spam kroots and fire warriors, and they hit you hard and fast

  • i agree with you

  • @ars731 are you joking? Be Tau, and put the game on the hardest difficulty and assault the Necron Stronghold then you will see what i mean.

  • @ars731 The necrons r the hardest in game but the necron Stronghold is super easy lol the TAU r the hardest XD

  • @ars731 By far and away the nastiest stronghold mission. I mean, you get attacked by multiple Relic Units and heavy vehicles, and right off the bat too. Quite a challenge. Only try this one if you have a nice, big bodyguard because you need to leave a lot of forces at home while you are also out attacking. If you leave your base undefended prepare to get served.

  • @ars731

    >Implying that isn't how you're supposed to play Tau.

  • @ars731 that's why you play as the Tau :D

  • @ars731 Just try Soulstorm against the tau...that's just fucking annoying as this game

  • @ars731 Least they arent spamming hammerheads like I did for the Imperial Guard, Ork, Eldar, Necron, Space marine, and Chaos. The funny thing is that they make your ultimate unit have more health then all the other races ultimate unit. Take the baneblade for IG. Has 25,000 health when you play as them, in other campaigns they only have 2500

  • @ars731 Not to add that they have access to mont command post and the kroot command post while we have access to either kroot or mont, which is lame.

  • @ars731 not to metion u cant see them due to their extreme distance and stealth suits and fog of war.

  • Filthy Xenos. Humanity must reign supreme! For the emperor!

  • oh.. and whats up with the computer when you play champagne, they always get honour guards without batteling?

  • really, they get champagne?

    must be a good drink.

  • An awesome speech, if you ask me!

They -are- a bulwark against the selfish (Imperium, Eldar), the souless (Necrons, and in a sense, Tyranids, though not literally), and the mad (Orks, and Chaos).

  • The Nid´s does have souls, however.

  • they might, however have lil salty snack for dark eldar in bottom of they metal armors

  • @Cocarat206 The Tyranids are a hive race, so technically, there IS a soul, but only the main being would have it, the rest of the tyranids are simply extensions of it's will.

(at least as i understand how souls work in WH)

  • @Cocarat206

Yes, because hoping to survive in a galaxy where everything else is trying to kill you is incredibly selfish. How dare the imperium not want to let the human race die off.

  • tau etherial's speach has nothing on the speaches of the other races leaders.

  • tau rule and how much is dawn of war ?

  • i forgot how much this level pissed me off, this is one of the hardest level i played on...

  • if you attack as orks the tau and kroot lose the fight in the video

  • I enjoyed making the Tau piss their pants with the necrons.

  • tau 4eva

  • how many caste r there in the tau

  • there are 5 castes:earth caste:builders,water caste:diplomats,air caste:transporters,fire caste:warriors and etereal caste:the leaders of the tau empire

  • Ah, the intro to one of the most annoying stronghold battles ever. Jeez, Tau weapons range > base defenses and infiltrated troops everywhere! Not to mention Kauyon and Mont'ka on the same map. :(

  • I could barely get through it as the necrons. I had to just send my monolith up into the middle of their main base and teleport all my warriors to it. The roof scouts were so annoying againt

  • LOL not helping that the only Necron detectors are the Builder Scarabs and those really fragile Wraiths. Things really are different without squad attachement... I miss my Skull Probes. XD

Playing Necrons right now, I'll see what I can do about that.

  • My necron lord was a detector. I had him teleport over to where the stealthsuits were firing from. If you got all his melee wargear and scarab swarm he'll be able to take them himself.

  • Yeah, but the rest of the army... *shrugs*

At least the Necron Lord is awesomely strong once he's decked out in his gear. XD

  • That Ethereal must be the black sheep of the Tau Empire because if u beat the campaign with Tau he puts the human population of Kronus in concentration camps and forces them to live in the gutter.Some1 has to sue him...

  • yeah whats up with that. I always thought the Ethereal Caste were the old, wise, understanding part of the Tau empire. But I don't really care for the Imperium, too religious and ignorent.

  • Indeed.

    Death for the imperial guard....

    Suckers,looser and cowards-

using big guns and bane blades.

    with only strong fire power.

  • Actually, they're more of a "footnote" (As in, they're barely noticed) rather than in full out work camps.

  • A team or two of pathfinders woulda just screwed over those rushing Space marines even more o.o;;

  • *stands on soapbox*

    SELFISH?!

Hmm... who is the race that demands on attacking Imperial worlds, and pushing their beliefs on others? (not talking about chaos.. not the imperium either, *cough cough*)

    *ahem*

I gotta hand it to the tau though, they've been whooping our ass, even though we're trying to ignore them.

  • Well it is true that the Tau do force their beliefs on the human population, but they do strive for one thing: The Greater Good for the best of all races.

Some it just takes time for them to realize which is right. Their own beliefs or the Tau.

  • Eh, make no mistake, if the Imperium decided to focus on eradicating the Tau, they would probably... eradicate the Tau. But between the numberless hordes of the Tyranids, the relentless Necrons, vile warp tainted traitors, and the green plague known as Orks, they probably figure a xenos Empire that's not even a 1/10th of their size is barely worth their attention at the moment.

  • Well, they do have the Damocles Gulf Crusade burning through Tau territory right now in the canon, if I remember right.

But, the new Black Crusade that took Cadica might be a bigger concern...

  • Yeah, the Imperium underestimated the Tau during the Damocles Crusade. Although they took out some Tau worlds, they were forced into a stalemate at one of the sept worlds. It was unlikely they could win without additional reinforcement, Tau reinforcements would probably have arrived first, and worse, Hive Fleet Behemoth was threatening the Imperium. So they negotiated a truce. Now with the constant battles in Cadia, it doesn't look like they'll be focusing on Tau too much anytime soon.

  • Actually the Imperium and the Tau have had skirmish-wars since the end of the Damocles Crusade. The Tau, seeing that the Imperium's armies were being sent somewhere else (Cadian Sector), decided to attack the Imperium and took over a whole bunch of Imperial worlds into their "Third Sphere". This attracted the attention of a few space marine chapters, which led to the Tau basically getting wiped out in almost all the Imperial worlds they took over. At this point, there's a tension that's rising.

  • Neat, I didn't know that. I figured there would still be fights, but I thought they had agreed to respect Imperial boundaries to a degree.

  • Nah. The Tau may seem peaceful, but, excepting the orks, they're the most expansionistic race introduced in the 40K. Boundaries of others don't mean anything to the Tau. For them, it's all about the expansion of the boundaries of their inaptly named "Greater Good", be it through diplomacy, bribing, assassination, "protecting trade interests" (aka. military oppression / intimidation), or outright war / genocide.

  • In this manner, the Tau are actually the biggest assholes in the 40k universe; at least the other races come clean about their nature and intentions. Even the Eldar openly throw their arrogant thoughts and opinions around, instead of trying to sugar-coat everything they do in order to appeal to the races they victimize.

  • "1/10th of their size "

More like all tau worlds combined not having the population of a single hive world.

  • Duuude, Relic didn't make Soulstorm. They were busy working on DOW II, so GW handd off the project to some other company.

    Thanks GW...

  • I'm a pro Tau player and I'm damn proud of it.

  • some here brother for the greater good

  • For the Greater Good! This vid makes me proud to be a Tau player!

  • I find Tau too proud and well....goody-two shoes for my taste, Kroot are fine though they look like birdies! :D

  • tau empire is nice fraction. their suits are really good, but...Adeptus Astrates are better...AA are the best, i think :o)

  • Tau Own i love them its like "woot i Kill ya before you see meh!"

  • Er... no, that's Eldar strategy. Tau are "Look at mah big gun".

  • Thats Imperial Guard

  • Well, yeah, they're very much alike; Tau have fewer people with better guns and tanks with awesome power but easy to break, while IG are many more, and with much more resistant tanks.

  • Eldar are like "oh look, you're dead, and you didn't even see us"

Tau are like "cool toys!!!!!!" XD

    or

"DON'T MESS WITH US! BY US I MEAN ME, MY AWESOME TECH, AND MY BIG PLASMA GUN!"

IG are like "Yeah, we have a squad for every soldier you have; and then we have tanks."

SMs are like "My bolter cuts down the Emperor's enemies."

    Orkz are like "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!!!"

    The Necrons don't say anything

Chaos is BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!

and 'Nids just eat your face.

  • Khornates are BLOODFORTHEBLOODGOD, not Chaos as whole. DoW just makes such impression.

  • that's true. Heh Nurgle...

  • rofl, so true

  • what the...? well, when playing with Necrons just allow them to kill a few of your honour guard. not whole squads, mind you. a warrior here, a warrior there. then you let the Necron Lord work his magic :) let's just say that by the time I was ready to storm their main base I had some 5 thousand Warriors/Flayed Ones :)

needless to say, after my Monolith teleported in their midst and all my warriors with it, there wasn't much the Tau were able to do :D but you probably know this, so never mind :)

  • Ain't that the truth. The First wave is enough to eliminate all your commanders. Then, any other wave after them is met to clean up.

  • I swear the Tau fortress is a real bitch to get through. They come at ya from both sides. I hope to all that read this: If you ain't prepared or ready for them, that is yo azz.

  • The Tau stronghold is the hardest of all stronghold assaults you can ever hope for in the Dawn of War Dark Crusade races. Unless you come there well prepared... Prepare to get your ass whipped up all over the Tau stronghold, Or'es Tash'n

  • The Tau is the hardest to destroy but I also thought the Necrons were hard too with the IG. But the Tau Empire is the hardest.

  • I found the Tau stronghold easy than Chaos and Necron

  • Oh,and fixedeluxe1 -> orks were hard?I don't think so.I killed them with Tau using Kroots and that was easier than IG...

  • Imperial Guard was easy to kill in Dark Crusade...but Chaos...shit...those Blood Totems made me crazy :P

  • Yeah that Chaos Fortress was hard too. Those damn Blood Totems always there after every minute. Jeez!!!!

  • imperial guards where hard to kill

  • HA he sounds japanese speaking english

  • For the greater good.I found the eldar, necrons and Imperial guard easy, and the chaos, blood ravens &orks hard.

  • What was the hardest stronghold in game? I think that it was tau stronghold.

  • I mean soulstorm wrecked the tau

  • Soulstorm wreck the tau

  • Better than Tau in Soulstorm ^_^

  • i kept on getting killed by stealth teams and devilfish APCs in this mission

  • the tau traded close combat except for the kroot for major fire power

  • U know for such a good race ther stronghold is probably one of the easiest to capture.

I even did it with the eldar

  • the easiest stronghold to capture is the IG's by far.

  • I would say the orks. and if you use IG and attack space marines stronghold, you can destroy their base with not even entering it. you can just use therir orbital bombardment abillty and use scan on their base. Easy!

  • i think the easiest was the elder

i captured their stronghold eassily even on hard mode

  • i found best teams are necrons and impirials :D

  • Tau and imperials for me!

  • is it me or when the spacemarines charge you here a chaos space marine shout "SPACEMARINES ATTACK!!!!!!!!!"???????? (its at about 1:20 but its the commanders voice in the back ground that comes in just later that the first one)

  • It isn't, it's a marine.

  • actualy theone that shoted was a scout marine dood

  • lol selfish, soulless, and the mad lol

  • Because space people are more sophisticated than earth people heh heh ;)

  • cuz all the voices are from the US

come on mate, give us Europeans and Chinese a chance in voice actting!

  • They wont....The US to up them selfs to let us.

  • true, and then they do they get a Cockney guy in....

  • nice video but i colect necrons and i colect tau to and ....ooooooooooooo BRODSIDE!

  • its a shame you can't use this map on skirmishes

  • ores tashn...pretty good place

  • TAU are accullty kinda bad bc if u beat the campain with them the human race goes down to 5%, so there really is no greatter good for humans, only for the robots and kroot ppl

  • they sound chinese

  • their suppose to... the armour of the tau and the idea of the "greater good" was based around chinese traditions... also the battlesuits of the tau are based around the anime shows like gundam wing... so basically the tau r space asians lol XD

  • FOR THE GREATER GOOD

  • The Tau R THE BEST but i like the SPACE MARINES BETTER THEY BOTH RRRROOOOOOCCCCCKKKKKK

  • i like the commander, he looks so badass

  • wut is that map called

  • Monolith is biggest veichle then the Baneblade then greater knarloc so on

  • this miision is hard cuz at beggining the first attack was infiltrated and i couldnt detect them... guard pwn. dont use baneblade use lots of hellhounds. tau burn good.

  • oi they do not baneblades go down like this(click)(snap of fingers) with stealth suits

  • rlly.. well i just pwned them on hard 20 mins ago wit 1 baneblade and 2 russ' and mowed through em all

  • when u face the computer they put the hp down and make them weaker try it wif a m8
