xmodrock.....ford did not start the canted valve design with the cleveland. I say this because i own a cleveland and love it btw, but i also own a big block chevy that is 4 years older than the first year 351 built. the bbc has canted valves.
@Lonewlf7676 just to let u no the radiator holds up just fine thanx, its a re-cored Torino 460 one, the core is a modified one so i dont have any worries there, u may want to look abit closer as its not a 74-78 mustang 2 its a 1971 hardtop! since this was taken its been a little updated, new 9" under the back complete with locker and 3.7-1 gears, 10x15 Cragar super tricks fitted with 28/12.50-15 M/T's all under the standard arches! a new 3 inch exhaust with Thrush welded mufflers....
@jim351 also ive fitted a MSD Pro billet dizzy, a Quick Fuels 750vs carb, ive run it on a un prepped track using 2nd gear from the off and managed a 13.89 at 105mph, there is alot more to come this year with the tires and the NOS! i would like to see 12's....
@booyah45828 take that 300 foot long dick out of your ass.. its a preferance.. you can do more with a Windsor.. and i haven't seen any Clevelands win anything really!! i see cobra replicas using 427W which is a stroked 351W
@xmodrock So what website did you read all that off of??? Of course new alloy windsor heads are going to outperform a 40 year old stock cleveland head. Thats like comparing an m16 to a bow and arrow.......... Now compare modern versions of both heads and the cleveland kicks the windsors ass all day long. You haven't seen celvelands winning anything recently because either the rules are biased against them, or they are to costly when there are cheaper alternatives.
@xmodrock Every cylinder head used in nascar today is derived from the 351c. Now the specs might be different per manufacturer but in the end they are still a canted valve head. Which is the trend that the cleveland started. Period. BTW if i had 300 foot long dick up my ass I surely wouldn't need you to inform me of it. I beleive i'd be able to figure that out on my own :)
They're called gilmer drive, they're used for high reving motors and are there so the belt doesnt go flying off when it revs high, they also whine like fuck when they're tight enough, you can hear it in the 1:30 sort of section of the video
whoa dude, NICE. have you run it at the tack yet? Me and my dad have a very similar setup:
351 cleveland.. bored 0.030" stroked out to 393 cubes.. with aluminium AFD 2V heads, a lumpy cam (i think 268 rings a bell, not sure to be honest), we got a 750 holley double pumper mech. sec. running on it. i ran 13.4 at 112.5 mph on my first run ever, and id love to hear what kind of times you manage, if you ever give it a go... cheers mate! good luck with it, it sounds amazing.
