@srfurley 1st station: this is in union city... i think the station is bergenline avenue. and yes i have been on the river line ( i have a video of it if you want to see it at night)....

I first rode on this in April 2002; it was just between Newport and 34th Street/West Side Avenue then, the next time I came over it had been extended to Hoboken Terminal. Hope to be there again in April or May this year; will try to ride the latest extension to 8th Street.

Have you been on the River Line? I came over from London especially to see it a few days after it opened.

@TimBrown59 Most of it is build from scratch but some of the route follows and old rail route. There are two more light rail systems in NJ. One in Newark and one between Trenton and Candum.
