hi pottsq, please know that i do not feel that dolphins are commodities for humans. I was only sharing this video as a tribute of Sharky the dolphin, and how much she was loved and that happiness and joy she brought. i hope she swims in her forever ocean free from walls. Maybe one day in the future- humans will learn to love and respect the animals that they will never see up close/ until then- places like SeaWorld & Zoos are needed.
Having whales and dolphins in captivity should be banned! Sharkey would have lived much longer in the ocean!
On average an dolphin living in captivity will only live 5 years a sharp decline from the 45 years it will live in the wild. Many captive cetaceans suffer an extremely poor quality of life please dont mistake their unfortunate smiling expressions to be ones of pleasure.
you know i never knew that dolphin but she was beautful from this vid u put on here this was 29 seconds worth of my time and that mIc3493 is a heartless person!
Sharky was transferred to Discovery Cove a few years back. At the end of the swim/ kiss session with the people visitors, the dolphins at Discovery Cove are to do this amazing jump ... Sharky being an old dolphin was to perform this jump.... A miscalculation ...and Sharky collided with a younger adult dolphin named Tyler. The impact was so forceful... Sharky died. Tyler was ok...but Sharky was not. thank your angie4777 for your question. Sharky was a wonderful, and loving old dolphin.
Very sweet video. What you said about her was very sweet as well. Brings back memories. I only knew Sharkey since 1999, but I felt I knew her well. My big plans to see her at DC are also crushed. She is deeply missed.
omg sharky really did died and i was there that day i have video of the dalphin show but that was 2 hours later and we never hurd anything about the dolphin that got killed
yes, Sharky was a beautiful dolphin....she had a beautiful personality....It was a honor that I got to know her. She was transfered out to FL in 2004...Usually Sea World won't moved around their old dolphins...so it was a shock when they moved her. thank you for your loving comment.

hello, I really don't know why she was named Sharky....my guess is that some trainer thought it would be a cute name, and named her that.
