The reactor was a bad design who cares what you put around it to take care of Earthquakes... if the design is bad then so is everything else... If you can regulate design and agree on safe principles then nuclear power is safe... If old ideas and insufficient technology is allowed to remain then the WORLD will always be at risk... Thorium reactors provide a more stable platform...

iirc that reactor is like 40 years old and a mark 1 design. So I don't see how, if there were a meltdown, it would prove nuclear can NEVER be safe.
