  • i saw gareth on BB he is such a nice guy

  • why all gays is hoooooot OH mY Gach !?!?!? :(

  • Is he single? Can anyone introduce us?

  • And Whales, actually.

  • @JessieMay41 Yeah but the Miami Dolphins are better at American Football

  • @Greengiant223 Yeah but Rugby is better than American Football.

  • @JessieMay41 Um, my comment was a joke actually - you wrote 'Whales' like the animal, instead of 'Wales' like the country. So I made a joke about the Miami Dolphins...

  • The All Blacks totally own the US at Rugby

  • I'm studying him for art :'3 he's such an inspiration and his story made me cry.

  • Gareth makes me proud to be welsh, awesome rugby player and hell of a man. I never thought I could respect someone more than I already did.

  • "pray to be straight, pray to be everything the world thought I should be" lol the world's so fucked up and there's nothing wrong with gay people, Gareth's such an inspiration.

  • His poor wife!

  • @TurboFuss1 Because her show doesn't just go out in America. It goes out in the UK too and he is a Welsh legend. Plus, what makes you think that she has to have 'famous' people all the time? This is a man who has a story to tell about coming out as a homosexual under the spotlight- something that Ellen can relate to!

  • He is sexyfine! (* 3 *)

  • one day-matisyahu omg im singing along

  • @ratedrjj321 I love Matisyahu.

  • Looking forward to hearing Mickey Rourkes Welsh accent in the biopic.. oh god haha.

  • Many consider him who? Never heard of this Peyton Manning guy

  • god i love rugby players.

  • um pretty sure hes not the only gay guy that has come out in rugby lol, Ian robberts was in rugby and came out in the 90's

  • who would even dislike this video?

  • I challenge any bigot to try and call him a queen XD

  • [Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: "We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?"; Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it." — "60 Minutes" (5/12/96)]

  • i am glad he was man enough and brave enough to be who he is and become much more happy in life.... Everyone in the closet should accept who they are, all those beings with gay tendencies are gay and they would be much more happy if they just accept it.

  • Nice. I'd hit that...

  • Totally awesome Gareth!

  • More proof that the religious right remains on the wrong side of history.

  • good on you, gareth hes honnest a great rugby player, his life is private got nothing to do with anyone, long life to gareth thomas

  • they only reason the parents were accepting was because they got their grandchild..... jk

  • @kurtismg Oh please, that's not why... Lot of gay people have parents that never get grandchildren yet they are supportive and accepting of their son's/daughter's sexual orientation.

  • WE LOVE YOU GARETH!!

  • @againstas ♔ You must take responsibility for yourself.

  • um I eg to differ with the statement that he was the only one. Ian Roberts Australian rugby legend come out many years ago and he is and was a defining inspiration to many in australia and the world.

  • any one who says rugby is football is out of their fuckin mind football is the pussy ass version of rugby

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you knew Gareth Thomas before this

  • we love you!

  • Whoa, whoa, whoa lets get one thing straight here!...

Rugby IS NOT a version of football!

  • @handsometom101 erm...yes it is... unless you mean American football, then its not :D

  • ...and then he went on Big Brother.

  • I would let him do whatever he wantes to me! he's so hot

  • ... who the fuck is peyton manning?

  • awww I think you hear him tell Ellen that she's an inspiration at the start when the music is playing.. What a dude <3

  • offended that rugby was summerised as a "bone breaking extreme version of football"

...you've got to be fucking kidding me.

  • @bigbluedog0 well over here we call "American Football" pussy rugby cus you have to wear all this padding and helmets and shit, when in Rugby all you are told to have is a gumshield for your teeth.

  • @bigbluedog0 yep, two completely different sports, and rugby is where the real men play!

  • HIS WIFE?? ok this is fuked up

  • @guzonjinsin88 I'm an old gay guy who didn't marry but in my generation many gays married because they were in such denial and really wanted so desperately to be straight. Now that it's so easy to be gay in western society this is less common. This guy lives in the macho rugby world so he's like gay men a few decades ago (except his teammates accepted him rather than beat him up physically - which happened to me). I'm sure most gays in Muslim countries are married.

  • @cavejourney how did he have sex?? You see i'm straight, that would be like me having sex with another man, he must be scarred for life! He should of just stayed single and told his m8's i cant find the right woman and fuk off.

  • @guzonjinsin88 To have sex you focus just on the sensations and perhaps have fantasies. You also have to understand how desperately a lot of gay people at that time wanted to be straight. I didn't marry but I spent years praying every night to be "cured" - I went to a shrink for the same reason. It didn't work but it was the typical reaction to homosexual tendencies at that time. You have to understand the pressures of that time and place. This guy is like a 1970s throw back.

  • @cavejourney His story isn't unique...i went to therapy too and am an athlete. I didn't take it to marriage though.

  • @guzonjinsin88 Social/ familial pressure is bitch isn't it!

  • WOW! what a man! he is more man than many straight guys are!

  • Wow - is he ever pretty!

  • surprised they dont have subtitles on here lol

  • aww he soo lovely...was so geniune n carin on celebrity bigbrother 2012

  • good for him.. feel sorry for his wife tho :(

  • what about ian roberts??

  • @MUzappa

Oh, that's just American media for you, everything is either the best, biggest or first. But in fairness, the exact wording, originating from Sports Illustrated (2010), referred to the "then-current" sports professional, Ian Roberts would have been retired about 10 years or so. Ellen was only repeating the story.

  • This is an amazing coming out story :D

  • Omg he's so cool and macho...and perfect.

  • Guys a legend.

  • this guy is an absolute tank when he puts on his welsh jersey XD

  • @BosnianReality Well he's telling the truth now so cut him some slack.

  • @MostRemarkable1 How about don't cut him anything get in his face and tell him all yor hate. See how that works out for ya. Bosnian Bitch boy.

  • @MrDavidMdavidson Exactly!

  • @ninjascroll6789 yes obviously being a kiwi, the nation thats dominated the sport for over 100 years i know what the original name is. But i dont think garths going to turn up on ellen, an american show and expect the audience to associate the word 'football' with anything other than american football. Go the all blacks

  • Bow!

  • Gareth Thomas is a legend; one of the finest Welsh players ever, and he's a very brave man as well.

Do many Americans really consider rugby to be 'extreme'? It certainly isn't viewed as extreme in the United Kingdom.

  • Peyton Manning of rugby? Massive respect for the man but no where near the peyton manning of rugby

  • lololol 'bone breaking extreme version of football', hey America! You're the only ones that need helmets and pads, tsk.

  • @kyoujinkrista2 So you, the big rugby fan, have never watched the American Eagles play?

    tsk.

  • I am not against gays and I vote for their human rights. But I simply do not get WHY the hell they want their sexuality so much exposed, Ellen is publicly supporting this guy. I would never do that and would be actually feeling that I intimidate other people for speaking about their sexuality. This makes the situation simply complicated. It is waste of time, it is not even an erotic story, just a story of nothing.

  • @BosnianReality Straight people actually "expose" their sexuality all the time... when they talk casually about their partners, their dates, their lives, when they walk hand-in-hand down the street. Many gay people live in communities where they have to keep their lives hidden out of fear. When people step forward to "expose" their sexuality - as you say - the are not doing it to intimidate YOU... but to make the truly intimidated know that they are not alone. So there.

  • more reasons why rugby is better than football! thug's game played by gentleman :)

  • doesn't matter who you or what you are your not alone.

  • What tremendous courage....that took a lot of guts

  • They should get married. Or can they? Would that be considered gay marriage?

  • no one that watches rugby considers anyone the 'peyton manning of rugby'

  • His father, his team mates, those are real men.

  • hes really handsome

  • Whats the song at the start?

  • @OxayZ It's called "One Day" by Matisyahu

  • @OxayZ One Day, Matisyahu, good song!!! :D Enjoy

  • dammmnnn hes hot !!!!

  • He shouldn't be afraid, i'm sure he could kick anyone's ass

  • @lanebaguss14 there is no physical power in the world, that can surpress and make up to judgmental looks and gossip

  • This made me so emotional i literally had have tears coming down me cheeks x

  • Gareth Thomas is an amazing human being . The world would be a better place if the was more people as kind and warm hearted as him

  • Big balls Gareth. Massive respect mate. Awesome dad. Awesome teammates.

  • So how does a gay person has sex with a women. How does a gay person get aroused by a women??

  • @TheWayshowerTube You don't have to be aroused to have sex with a woman, duh.

  • LOL 'see a baby and pig take a nap' WTF

  • He's the most nicest person in the world ,hope he wins bb tomorrow ^_^

  • i'm a straight rugby player. and i know, that this is strength. the largest feat of strength i've ever seen.

  • He should win Big Brother!

  • What an arsehole imagine how his wife feel

  • @accessutube1000 he finally admitted it. that takes strength. you must NOT be a rugby player.

  • @accessutube1000 Actually, the only arsehole is the Society that told him the only true relationship is with the opposite sex and being gay was wrong! If he grew up in a society that fully embraced the idea that you can live a long, happy life in a same sex relationship as well, this probably never would have happened!

  • he's an absolute hero

  • @AnotherDayOfThis yip played rugby every saturday morning and rugby league every sunday until they changed up the game day of both to the same day. Tried a football and liked the stratergy to it but its extremely slow moving. Rugby has more tactics and its on the go not the sideline

  • Welshman on Ellen. Weird.

  • @AnotherDayOfThis "pretty" that sums up alot about the players

  • @kaititiro Why any beautiful man would want to mess up their face like that by not wearing pads is crazy. Both sports are great. I don't know why people look at it as weak 'cause they wear pads. But eh, your opinion. Have you played Rugby or A. Football before? Hmm.

  • @AnotherDayOfThis You have no idea how much pride is bestowed upon yourself when you get into the jersey, and take your position on the field, As a foward or as a back.

and the feeling when you hit that ruck just right, or when you get that game winning try.

we would risk anything. i've dislocated my shoulder broken my leg and shattered my ankle, but hell. it's the game they play in heaven.

  • @WiremuH I wouldn't know 'cause I wouldn't dare play it. Again, I don't care about the injury, I just don't like to see the hot looking ones that looks fucked up afterward. I like the one that makes the gay men hard as a rock. Get it now? No debate here. Just tired of the comments about how one sport is weaker then the other. So unless you're eye candy, go ahead and play. Just my opinion.

  • What an inspiring story! Way to go Gareth. When the chips come down, what really matters is staying true to who you really are no matter what the rest of the world says.

  • He has serious guts, good on him for it!

  • Rugby players are like Nfl players but with more stamina, no padding and no stops in play....

  • i am gay ! i want you to be my partner !

  • I don't have anything against gay people but I do have a problem with those who pretend to be straight in relationships. Just don't get married to the opposite sex if you know your gay idiot

  • @Naturalqueen2011 maybe it was the pressure and stigma against gay people that made him want to not be gay, that's maybe why he got married

  • @Naturalqueen2011 um yeah I'm pretty sure it's more complicated then that...

  • @Naturalqueen2011 Silly Person! You have NO idea what it's like to be secretly gay in a world that emphasizes heterosexuality in almost every aspect of life, especially sports! Some gay people are so pressured by their society to be what society wants everyone to be that they try as hard as they can to be straight and fit into that world. Don't blame gay people for these sham marriages; blame the society that puts a heavy stigma on their sexuality!

  • my dad would have asked me to get the champagne bottle and then knocked me round the head with it!

  • i'm from the uk and i've never heard of him o_O

  • @hiddenspiralatoms his on celebrity big brother

  • @hiddenspiralatoms Do you follow rugby?

  • @hiddenspiralatoms Because you are a fucking moron is why.

  • Honesty begins with you !!

  • He's so cute.....

  • @JoshwaaaJab i thought he is 6 foot 2

  • I'm in love...PERIOD!!!!

  • We love you boy. Gay or straight, you're ours

  • hes very tall? or is ellen short?

  • @thrashdouche21 he's huge

  • @thrashdouche21 hes REALLY tall

  • wo

  • In america, who'd get pay more? Rugby athlete or football NFL athlete?

  • @lunovintoys if this is a serious question, an NFL athlete, rugby players are on about £130,000 a year ($200,000). as opposed to an NFL athlete who gets about 4-12 million i believe?

  • @SnaveDela12 Thats definitely a serious question. I have no idea about rugby/NFL. So can a Rugbt athlete make it to NFL?

  • @dablakryu I am gay and offended by this. I am a human being and deserve respect just like anyone else. Remember that before you speak your hate.

  • hope gareth wins cbb

  • @paddybt4 Well he didn't...he maybe should have!! The Toxic Twins at least didn't win thank god!!

  • @dablakryu FUCK OF MAN

  • HES HOT

  • proud of you Gaz im proud to be welsh. legend

  • well hes not exactly a rugby star anymore is he.!

  • as an openly lesbian rugby player, me gusta.

  • Rugby players ALWAYS have great asses.

  • @1470zorg But he felt like he kinda had to since he wanted to be straight. Social influence is very powerful and we don't realize it. He felt ashamed to be gay because of what he was surrounded by, and he obviously tried to show affection to a woman, but he obviously couldn't lie to himself anymore. You might feel that he shouldn't have married in the first place, but you should at least admire his will to come out and tell her the truth. You have to put your self in his shoes.

  • He was class.

  • Coming out is always difficult. In my case being catholic and Latino imagine. I did not have someone to talk to. But I have a great mother and family . So thank you

  • Met him when i was in primary school, his aunt was my teacher. such a great guy and a true inspiration

  • This guy was a true true servant of Wales, Hated seeing him taking England apart, but what a true professional, great guy and true gentleman. England fan.

  • I never knew Gareth, but because he's in Celebrity Big Brother UK 2012 now, I became curious and read up about him. He's not only hot ( I'm a girl btw) but he's a nice guy and very brave to come out like he did. And I hope that he will be an example for many people who are struggling with the same situation as we speak. Live and let live!

  • the songs called

    Matisyahu - One Day

  • i am gay myself and everytime i watch question of sport all i can see is that its so so obvious Matt Dawson (rugby player) is also gay too if you watch all his manerisms and actions..i am usually spot on with my gay radar and can also honestly say 100% hand on heart i dont have the hots for Matt but watching him over the years i have always felt that about him for decades..i dont know if he says he is married,bi or str8 as havent checked his public life status..but rekon hes gay in private life.

  • We need more athletes like Gareth -- brave and not afraid to be truthful/open.

    Also, I love his accent.

  • I'm 15 years old and I'm gay, and I live in Sarn, the exact village where Gareth was brought up, I know some of his family. I can honestly say that he is a role model not just to the gay community, but to everyone, he's such an amazing person, a person for all to look up to.

  • didnt think americans knew what rugby was... or what wales was LOL us welsh people sound so dopey on tv like i hate our accent ahaha ¬_¬

  • What is the name of the song that starts at 1:04 when he is walking onto the set?

  • So, who's supporting him on Celebrity Big Brother? What a legend.

  • His smile lights up a room... what an amazing guy...! respect.

  • im american and rugby is my life

  • Just shows that being gay DOESN'T follow the stereotypes!

  • yaaaaaay wales

  • rugby isnt a homophobic sport a ton of lesbians(including myself) play rugby religiously. rugby is my life and i live in the USA (though i do wish to move away as soon as possible)

  • Very very impressive...

  • maybe the
