Why is the fireman's face blanked out in the opening sequence?

The Conductor calls "All aboard" and as the train departs the fireman leans forward and his face is digitally blanked out.

I think that is just the compression of the video that makes it look that way. We did not blank him out in editing. You're right though, it does look like he is blanked out.
