Ooooh... another example of all four panelists RISING to shake hands (inlcuding the two women). I can now count SIX guests where they've done that now.
I was fortunate to have met Mrs. Priest when she visited the set of "Alice" -- when I wrote on that series. She thrilled everyone by signing copies of dollar bills, matching her printed signature on the money. She impressed me as a very good natured woman. ...Rowby
The "Angel of Dien Bien Phu" referred to early on in this clip is a French nurse, Geneviève de Galad-Tarraibes, who was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Eisenhower. A full account of the story can be found at Wikipedia (to find the entry simply Google her name).
Mrs Priest later moved from Utah to California where her daughter Pat Priest portrayed Marilyn Munsters on The Munsters. Mrs. Priest also served a couple of terms in the Governor Ronald Reagan administration as treasurer of California.
This episode features one of the last appearances of Steve Allen before he started hosting the NBC network version of Tonight.
WML did not give away a lot of money, but it certainly provided sophisticated amusing entertainment of a high order.
Here is an example of what made WML a great entertainment.
On live TV the episode features an old lady Bar Room Bouncer from Philadelphia --- Ivy Baker Priest Treasurer of United States, from Bountiful Utah ---
Debbie Reynolds (a clip of this appearance can be found on part two of "What's My Line at 25," and that clip was not even the funnest part of the sequence) -- she brought out her boy friend Eddie Fisher
