I've done my OWN research into this song as well and I have discovered this melody's possible origin! There is a song by Bjork called "hyper-ballad" which has a melody VERY close to this towards the end of the song. And the song in and of itself refers to the PLEASURES she gets from throwing things off the side of a cliff---coincidence?

just type in "Björk - Hyperballad Instrumental by Ogeid (Unfinished)". The similarity is right at about 2:48.

i absolutely love this commercial too. and the music is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. one of my favorite tunes now even though it is so short. i am crushed to know that there is no full length track. pleaseeeee estee lauder let someone make a full length track of it! i also listened to spread of light godart string version and it sounds nothing like this. :P

about the background music, it's a 25-second commercial jingle, there is no extended version since it's written for the 30-second tv spot. Estee Lauder bought it and basically owns the rights now. If the composer or the studio wants to release it as a full length track, he or she will need to get permission from Estee Lauder to do that. Estee Lauder only said it's commissioned by them and not available for release. There is no information about what studio wrote it or who the composer is.

Ugghh, all I wanna know is what the fuckin song is, and every time I see this commercial I think, "Is it so hard for them to post the name of the song at the very end?" That pisses me off that you say that estee lauder has no plans to release the track, that's just bullshit. Since 2006 I have wanted to use this track in something, whether that would be an animation or a short film or something, I think this piece would fit nicely for a scene, but no, they're gonna be a bunch of dicks about it.
