He's still the reference about perfect technic and ((le beau chant))...I'm a Bari-tenor too and it is sometime hard to have the best of both worlds during today opera auditions....
There is no ambiguity when we're singing lieder or French song in concert as Bari-tenor, we become sudently the best singer of the world for audiences... :-) (Humor)))
That's my way least the popularity of Master Dieskau.
a person can dislike the video for other reasons than its contents. the person can dislike it because he disagrees with the text added under it, or the choice of song, maybe it's his least favorite song in that cycle, or he prefers another recording of the same song by the same singer.
Quel formidable chanteur pourtant.
Don't mean to be controversial but this is a poem set to music, a partnership between poset and composer. The important thing is the meaning not the feat of singing four bars in one breath. We all know DFD can sing four bars in one breath. Wonderful song cycle and beautifully sung for the past stuffy age of the recital stage. Now surely is the time to rediscover these glorious songs for our age with a more intimate approach. I don't think Schubert would mind a bit.
@mozartiikodesu Yeah you're right on spot. Normally people probably does not notice that he sings in one breath for every 4 bars, but if you sing, you know how hard it is to sing in 1 breath for e.g. the line "Ich kann zu meiner weisen nicht wahlen mit der zeit" and so do other lines.
I really like all songs of Schubert's LIEDER by DFD. Album Ⅰ and Ⅱ, over 500 songs.
He was trying different interpretations for same song. "Der Wanderer an den Mond" is my favorite.
I am trying singing it so many times. However "sings in one breath for every 4 bars" is really hard for me. ( I done it in lately) I think "Sings in one breath for every 4 bars" is basic of vocalism.

For the sake of accuracy, let's call him a lyric baritone, O.K.

Much emotion. It seems his live music. I like the performance of his first youth.
He has sung it by one breath for every 4-bars(phrase)
**What can I say? in right English...
