  • Man your awesome you have the nuge down pat... He is freaking awesome I'm up there with you on that,......I have a question I have a guitar strap that I would love for him to sign but when he came to Louisville for his AMAZING concert I wasn't able to c him so how would I get that signed without him calling me a cock sucking communist lol I wouldn care to pay him because the nuge is bad ass but I'd really dig a Ted nugent signed strap on my 4000$ guitar..

  • @MrTricejones32 Thanks for writing and I appreciate the ego juice.. I can always use some:):) The strap idea is great. If you get the Nuge in the right setting, I'm sure he will sign it for you. Just takes dedication. Believe me, I know:):) Thanks, keep in touch..

  • I love Uncle Ted too bro! I'll keep you updated of when I post my version of The Great White Buffalo. I heard the song for the first time on the radio (Double Live Gonzo version). I loved it so much I had to rush home and pick up my guitar. I didn't quite know how to play it and I didn't know the words, so I came up with some Indian related lyrics and I knew the gist of the song. It should be posted later tonight! I just read your Byrdland story!

  • @lavasmokechile It's always a pleasure hearing from fellow Ted Brothers! I will look for your GWB.. It's on my list to post also, just don't have much time lately.. Nuge can be addicting like no other performer. I remember when I ran out and bought EVERY shred of Nuge's material I could get my hands on. Those were the days:) Thanks for writing and stay in touch!

  • @ByrdmanSteve Thanks for getting dropping me a line Steve. Right now I'm in school to learn how to be an elementary school teacher. When I do have free time, I like to put out a youtube video. It beats driving to a pub and waiting my turn to play 3 songs at an open-mic night. I'm a big Ted fan, but I'm a bigger KISS/Ace Frehley fan. You have a Ted guitar, and I have an Ace guitar. I would rather have the Gibson version, but Epiphone is all I can afford. I'll get GWB soon, I promise! Lol:)

  • @lavasmokechile Enjoyed your version of GWB.. Ted is a great world. Ted and Kiss work just fine together. I had a chance to play GWB live last night. Was great fun!!!

  • Instead of a Chinese made Crate (I have an XT65R which is a fine sounding amp) I would think that you'd have a Peavey Classic 50 2x12 or seek out one of Ted's old Fender Twins (like the one I had, purchased at Al Nalli Music in about 1978 (or '79) after Ted did the Super Twin endorsement deal with Fender).

Back then, I had a '63 Byrdland but the tiny, short-scale neck was too small for my big ol' bass playing hands...

  • @BB2009LZ I'm with you on the Chinese thing!!:) My newer vids are not using the Crate. The Crate sort of fell into my hands and I have to reluctantly say, I like it. It does what I want with no frills most of the time. I am an amp ignoramus. I have a friend who is tracking down the Fender Twins Ted used to use but not sure I'm up for spending the $. I should check into those Peaveys. For Love Grenade, Ted was using Kustom Heads Thanks for the input.!

  • @ByrdmanSteve ... hey Byrdman ... great playing!!! i was moving my mouse around when the cursor landed on the 'thumbs down' and it turned red! ... i don't know if it registered but i definately was not intended. i've never given a 'thumbs down' to anyone. just a typical case of 'fat fingering" sort of what i do with my G chord :o) thanks, and keep the vids a comin'!

  • @sixintune Thanks for the concern, no worries. Appreciate the kind comments. Just need some more time so I can pump out a few more videos. Nice selection of vids at your channel. Thanks again!

  • Thank you fellow Nuge friend:) I do appreciate it, keeps me goin'

  • good job steve good video!

  • you have the guitar, what are you plugged into... pedals/amps????

  • @tundragyr Most of the videos, plugged into a plain Crate half stack. Only pedal I ever use is a wah. My opinion, Nuge sounds is playing style first, then guitar/rig... What did you think of the sound?

  • @ByrdmanSteve Sounds almost spot on... like you got the right tools and tone now just a small tweak on technique and you will start growin a scruffy beard and be able to blow the balls off a charging rhino at 60 paces!

  • @tundragyr That would be nice!! If anything, I have to suppress my urge to be more Tedly when I play, I seem to have little control over it:) Thanks for the note!

  • how heavy is that guitar?

  • @305catsquid I believe I weighed it at 6.5lbs...It's a tad heavier than I thought it would be as it is a full hollow body but it's much lighter than my ES 135 or Fusion as they are semi hollow bodies...

    Steve

  • hey, could you do a lesson on the stranglehold riffs in the beginning. i would really appreciate it. thx

  • @mekanizedslayer It will be the next video! I have be almost too busy to login lately. I just need a tad of time and the right mood. That's the hard part:) Thanks for the request!!

  • You probably are the biggest ted nugent fan on the planet, if not second. Only the true Ted Nugent fans have a ted nugent guitar, guitar case, AND a pinball machine.

  • @gmanhell94 Only the crazy Ted fans have taken it as far as we have but thanks for the comments:)

  • Wow!! Your Awesome!!

  • @nugegal I'd be lying if I said I don't love hearing that:) Thank you! I am assuming you are a female Nuge fan and that's a breath of fresh air cuz so far it's just us guys here:):)

  • The greatest rock n roll song ever written period! Well done Byrdman Steve keep those Nuge licks coming.

  • @rrstew Much appreciated, Working on it!!!

  • Nice guitar and nice playing! I am inspired! I like the pinball machine too.

  • @Number1nitwit Thanks CG Nitwit!

  • a real classic great playing enjoyed

  • Thanks for the kind words! Makes it all worth while..

  • HELL YEA my first concert was uncle ted and man it was incredable. I'm only 15 and I love this. There have only been three Byrdlands that I've sceen in person and they were Ted's black and natural byrdlands and one at a local Skip's music store. You are soo lucky.

  • Thanks for the comment! It's great to know Ted lives on with guys your age. I was about 14 when I discovered Ted. I suppose I am a lucky guy but luck is only a small part of success! Keep doin' what your doin'!

  • @ByrdmanSteve hey about Ted's Black Byrdland, The only Byrdland I've ever sceen in black was ted's, I was wondering was it custom, aftermarket, or just super rare? I figured you'd be the guy to ask.

    Thanks

  • I am not sure to be honest with you. I am pretty sure that it is a factory black Byrdland. The finish is crinkled up and peeling. I can tell you, when I spent time with Ted, his guitar tech offered to re-finish it and Ted said, "you touch it, I kill you" all in good fun of course. Keep Rockin'!!!

  • @ByrdmanSteve cool thanks man I guess that guitar is just a hell of special instrament played by a hell of a special guy

  • Dude i love you Uncle Ted is my inspiration my dad showed me him a couple years ago and he quickly went from just oh Ted Nugent to FUCK YEAH TED NUGENT but of course being that im 18 almost nobody in my generation knows the greatness of Uncle Ted... P.S I would probably have a heart attack if i found out i had one of Uncle Teds guitars

  • My replies are not getting through... You are killer! Believing in Ted will keep you on the right path in life. It did for me!

    BMS

  • sounds great, quite surprised actually - Byrdland GAS!!!

  • Yeah, I think those Byrds may be Turbo Charged! Thanks for the comment!

  • Sorry but I AM THE BIGGEST TED NUGENT FAN THAT HAS EVER WALKED THE EARTH!!!!

  • Sorry but I see no evidence that is true:) If you are, I am honored to meet you!

    BMS

  • Hey. My name is Camron Sayyah and I would like to say that I am a huge ted nugent fan myself. I do have a byrdland guitar like yours, only mine is a 1964 solid BLACK florentine....like TED'S. I also do have a howard roberts fusion, but mine is tobacco burst instead of blonde like ted's (and yours). I just wanted to say that your videos are pretty cool and keep up the good work. please respond!

    Camron

  • Thanks for writing me! It's nice to know there are other crazy Ted fans like myself out there. What are the odds you have a Byrd and a Fusion, well maybe pretty good. I will have to check out your link, I'd love to see your guitars. I got to play Teds Black Byrd! I gotta run but lets talk some more...

  • Thanks! Great Cost Too if you know what I mean...

  • Steve That is a great Byrdland !!

  • You are are right about the Byrds. Now that I finally have the Authentic Byrdland, my other guitars just feel like they are lacking something and it really tone related because other guitars are a hell of a lot easier to play but are missing something. Believe it or not, I am plugged straight into a Crate half-stack. I'm pretty happy with it:) Don't give up on gettin' a byrd. Took me almost 20 years after the Ted Byrd. Take Care and thanks!!!

    Byrdman Steve....

  • The best sounding guitar there is, Byrdlands have something special that other guitars don't. I hope to have one someday but for know I got my Glen Burton Hollow body($230.00) that I recently purchased because I thought it would help me get the tone. It doesn't because nothing will but a Byrdland. But I like the guitar very much anyway, worth much more than I paid imo.

Nice playing, what amp are you using?

  • You'd be surprised, you play those licks and the expressions just happen. It was no mistake I had 'em in the flick. Some like it and some don't. If I ever get time to do some more, we'll see what happens. Thanks for the input.

  • your a good player but you completely rip ted nugent down to your facial expressions please stop that and get your own style.

  • Now I know I'm on the right track.. Thanks...

  • lol no keep playin the nuge songs but stop acting exactly like him even the teeth is what got me

  • Nice Byrd !!!!

  • Thanks! With a receipt to prove it:)

  • Nice stuff man. Ted was one the guitarists that made me want to pick up the instrument.

  • Thanks!! Means a bunch to me. Ted IS the reason I picked up the instrument. Gonna post some more when I get some time.

  • No worries, you're welcome. It was what I was in to when I first started playing along with guys like Schenker and Angus Young before moving on to the likes Paul Gilbert, Malmsteen ect. But even though these guys are great players, they just seem to lack something compared to Ted Nugent in the sense of persona and songs. Best time was when St Holmes was in the band.

  • By the way. Just read the post on the black Byrdland. That's the guitar that I associate Ted with would love to own one. I think that was a black Byrdland that you were playing at the start? BTW you've got the sound dead on : -)

  • Thanks for the kind words. Ted has been playing a stock Byrd through Kustom amps and cabinets. Recently anyway.

  • Steve that was awesome! I hope you get your ass (and Brydland) back in front of the camera for some more of that inspiring guitar playing.

  • Thanks for those Kind words! I do appreciate it more than you know. I'm wrestling with my video editing software and time but will get some out soon!!! Thanks again!

    Byrdman Steve

  • EjG5150, Thank you for the kind words! I was fortunate enough to spend time in Texas with Ted and you may be the first person that can appreciate what it meant to me to have "That Black Byrd" from Double Live Gozo strapped on me. I have pics!!!! As far as I know, that Byrd was black from the factory. The paint on that guitar is soooo crackled it is lifting off the guitar. Ted said anyone who tries to refinish it will get shot! Hope this helps a bit? Keep in touch!

    Byrdman Steve

  • hey maybe you can help me I've searched for days for information about ted's BLACK Byrdland. Is it custom or just an extremely rare color? Please help me out. Great PLaying you are an extremely talented person. Thank you.

  • Ya got talent Steve.....don't waste your time with the likes of the Jens and Vortecs of the world.

  • Great Guitar Playin Steve!

  • Jen... Thanks for the proper Nuge Welcome. Much appreciated. Haven't had much time to snoop the club so to speak. Until now I've never heard of a "nuge fan stalker". Statistically that just doesn't seem safe::). Would like to hear your Nuge stories some time. Thanks again...

    Byrdman Steve...

  • Thanks Craveman! I do appreciate it! Livin' It Up

  • Nice set up you have there and nice playin.

    Live It Up!

  • You guys may want to fill the old Nuge fan in here. Tell me this is a good ole Wango Tango Goo talk and not smut. Cuz the Nuge knows how to talk Goo but keep the damn porn talk out or count the Byrdman OUT!

  • Jenluvsthenuge,

I believe I did say might be the biggest Nuge Fan:) I always thought I was but if I'm not than that's cool cuz I aint alone:) and thanks for #2.

  • Man I gotta say, i'm a huge Nuge fan, very nicely done on this video and I'll be checking out the others ones you post on here.

I have to ask, how many Nugent concerts have you seen live?

  • Nice to make your acquaintance Mr. Brown:) So if I'm not the biggest fan than there is someone even more ridiculous than me out there:):) It's nice to know. Lets keep in touch... Byrdman Steve...

  • Hey, I salute you! I wouldn't call you the biggest fan but defiantly the most well equipped. I'm jealous! LOL!

  • Thank you! I have heard of Bobby Lee Miller. Think I saw your video. It was cool!

  • Cool video!!!!! Great guitar licks.
