I thought always age for age dionne always a hands down better singer than Whitney. Whitne definitely have the genes and can blow. But Dionne always have that special thing going. Very versatile. She sings soft, quite, unpredictable, high, mid, low, gospel, pop, r&B. None of the styles she sings in are compromise. She sing them all with equality. That is what made her better than Whitney than and now for me!!! I luv whit too though.

Actually, her voice has deteriorated considerably over the years. She lost a lot of her range in the late '80s. Many attribute it to her smoking habit, but I'm sure her hectic singing schedule didn't help either.

You should listen to the clip of her singing this Battle Hymn of the Republic from 1986. Now THAT is amazing!

Wow, just simply amazing Dionne is almost 70 yrs old, and is still an amazing singer with her diction and interpretation of a song. You don't hear many of the younger ones singing like this today. Dionne received and deserved a standing ovation !

I am so in love with Dionne. Every era of her voice is magical for different reasons. This performance shows how full and rich her low range still sounds, and of course her interpretative skills and diction are still as flawless as ever. Love that woman.
