good slides and all but I can't get into this version at all. Its not the songs fault but I grew up with the rocky mountain christmas version on dad's old LP with the pops and seemingly slower pace. The other version is #2 on YT, just not sure why this one is #1
It isn't Christmas without some John Denver songs, especially this one. I'm only 20, but I grew up singing to John Denver with my mom, and have grown to have a great deal of respect for this man and artist. Thank you so much for posting this beautiful song and paying tribute to this wonderful man. Merry Christmas! =]
What a beautiful piece of music! i only hear it at christmas though. they should play it all winter!! it brings such peace and serenity to your soul!! actually they can play it in the summer too---would cool you down!
I live in Colorado....snow or summer, it is always quite beautiful. We all get so busy with life that it is easy to forget to actually 'see' what is around us. Beautiful song that reminds me to honestly look at the beauty, which makes the mundane worth it.
The original version of this is on his "Rocky Mountain Christmas" album. I think it was released in 1974. Words can't even describe how many memories and warm feelings I get from hearing this song, and in fact the entire album. If you don't have it, I can HIGHLY recommend it !!!
It doesn't mind! really seems a chistmas song, but I feel beauty feelings when I hear these harmonies. It's completely beauty. Sorry for my poor english.
I've never known what it is about this song that fills my heart with such peace and serenity. Heck...I still don't know, but somehow it gives me a warmth within that I hope to share someday soon with the woman I love more than life itself. Thank you for your posting.
Well, today it's snowing (1/27) in Baltimore and we teachers (and students) have off from school....I was cruising around on YouTube and remembered that you had this wonderful video/music from John...Aspenglow....deliciously describes today...I have a cup of coffee, curtains are open so that I can see the snow, and I'm listening to John singing Aspenglow...I am truly blessed...I thank you, again, for taking the time to do this for everyone....
::sniff:: Thank you for this video. Although I love John Denver and miss his gifts, this video touched me in another way. Six months ago my husband and I moved from beautiful Eden, UT. Eden boasts three ski areas, one of which you could access from our back door. This video will take me there whenever I get homesick. Thank you so much.
Very simply, just gorgeous! Your exceptionally beautiful video captures the essance of John's Aspenglow. And, ironically, it leaves a warm glow in our hearts and minds. Thanks so much for sharing this tribute to the beauty and timelessness of JD's musical legacy.
Most of the time I hate snow and everything about it! But John's straight-to-the-heart voice and these lovely pictures make me almost like the white stuff. It's a beautiful song. Thank you for posting.
Sorry...I didn't mention this before, I just listened to it again and actually watched the video...wonderful....especially how you timed the snowfall and pine pictures...
I've been singing this song all week and trying to find my Christmas CD of John Denver...which I can't seem to locate, so I'll have to get another one...thanks so much for posting this--it was my last hope...I couldn't get beyond "see the sunlight in the pines" without wanting to hear John's voice...and you made that happen...thanks for your time on this.
I grew up with the version on "Rocky Mountain Christmas" and that one is still my favorite, but this recording (the original?) isn't too shabby, either.
I totally agree with you. I have a picture of Mr Denver with the caption " He was a man who said beautiful things and he said them beautifully" Just about sums it up I think. :-)
What a beautiful song from one of the Best Songwriters of All Times....we miss your beautiful spirit and heartfelt songs John...you were one of the best songwriters that God blessed us with, sorry you had to leave us so soon, but at least you left a big part of you that will always remain in our heart, soul and memories, and for that I am grateful. God Bless
One of his most beautiful songs. Listening to this song can absolutely transport me back to my youth and days of winter. It feels like a Christmas song to me....maybe because it's on his Christmas album, at least I think it is. Thanks for posting Catbrush. Beautifully done!
Dear Mr. Denver are those stars as beautiful ; as one might think ; they would be from the other side ; Heavens` view has to be MORE BEAUTIFUL !
