  • how do you remove it off a normal mountain bike the ones with bolts

  • Usually I just hit the cassette with a hammer. Some of the teeth get bent, but then I just stopped shifting. When that gets boring I get out the vise-grip. Bend those puppies back to where they used to be. If that goes wrong I beat up my bike with an aluminum bat. Then I report the bike as stolen. So, what's next?

  • saved me a couple bucks =]

  • Hes hot!

  • @Monksterz65 YOU'RE A FAG!

  • @Monksterz65 Honey, im a girl. Not a fag!

  • Good Job! Your next challenge is: install a 9-speed cassette on 7-speed freewheel body!!!

  • after pedaling my bike's rear wheel keeps turning the gears when the pedal in not moving, which cause the chain to lossen enough to make the loop an arch. this started to make today. my bike is 7 years old. can i fix it??.....helpme please

  • Thanks a lot.

All my books did not help but your video.

  • Can you install gears onto a single speed bike?

  • very informative vid

    thanks

  • That was great. This guy is really good in front of a camera. Thanks. Now I want to see what other videos you have on maintaining bikes.

  • Great video-

I am a noob so anyhelp would be appreciated.

What is the actual mechanism/part the allows the rear wheel to spin while coasting when the pedals are not moving.

    also vice versa

When you are coasting say at 5mph and not pedaling and then want to accelerate to 10mph by pedaling, how and what engages to turn the wheel?

    THanks

  • @pberglin thes a one way mechanism in the body which is a gear which can only rotate one way and when it goes the opposite way it cant so makes the wheel spin

  • Quick down and dirty version.

Very useful if someone had no clue on how to do this.

Having bike specific tools makes things so much easier and faster; not to mention safer. Get them!

  • how do i do that with my penny farthing ? i can't get the tool from anywhere

  • theres gears on those things?

  • LOL, penny farthing doesnt have Gears Cassete, well, at least all the penny farthings that I know, doesn't have gears, cuz It hasn't multiple speeds.

  • i have an early 90's dyno compe, how do i know what size freewheel i need?

    1/2x1/8 or what?

    thanks

  • Thanks for such a useful video!!! I'm going to buy both those tools so I can remove my cassette and install it on my other wheelset. yay!!

  • on the bike i got the gears sometimes lock both ways and the washer rings on to which the actual old technology gears fit on need to be removed

  • thanx for vid, but this explains how to do this using proper tools. living in pakistan these tools are not available , they use a small piece of spoke held with a pair of pliers and hammer the spoke on the cassette pin. can you please post me a video showinga close up of the tools you used so i cam make my own , and also a video url or a video showing how to remove the cassette holder which is the older technology used here inside pakistan?

  • well done, to the point and accurate.
