  • Michael Medved on AOL dotCom: Less than five years after George W. Bush wrecked his presidency through his limp response to a natural disaster in Louisiana, President Barack Obama has escaped largely unscathed from his similarly feckless response to a man-made disaster in precisely the same part of the country. Republicans have gained scant traction for their attempts to tag the massive oil spill off the Louisiana coast as “Obama’s Katrina.”

  • Even U.S. drug czar Gil Kerlikowske concedes the strategy hasn’t worked. But while evidence points to Obma’s growing record of failure as President, the media that fawn over him continue to look the other way.

  • Reports the Associated Press: This week President Obama promised to “reduce drug use and the great damage it causes” with a new national policy that he said treats drug use more as a public health issue and focuses on prevention and treatment.

Nevertheless, his administration has increased spending on interdiction and law enforcement to record levels both in dollars and in percentage terms; this year, they account for $10 billion of his $15.5 billion drug-control budget.

  • While Obama claims progress on the economy, more Americans remain out of work than at any time in the nation’s history and economists admit that many of them may never find a decent job again. Now comes word that the President’s attempt to throw more taxpayer money into the “war on drugs” is a “colossal failure.”

  • The White House’s slow response to the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has become the Obama’s Katrina — a testament to the federal government’s inability to react quickly in a crisis. The President’s expanded war effort in Afghanistan has failed so miserably that even the General in charge of the operation admits “nobody is winning.”

  • Reagan had good writers, but whenever he tried to improvise it was a disaster. He was an elitist, not a conservative. At the end of his second year in office, America had a higher debt than all the accumulated and combined debt of our entire history. Not to mention all the underage boy prostitutes that got late night "tours" of the Whitehouse during his term.

  • @ScienceFindsGod "Not to mention all the underage boy prostitutes that got late night "tours" of the Whitehouse during his term." Get your mind out of the gutter and quit fantasizing. If you really want to talk about debt, what the hell is Obama doing? I guess since he cares for the poor by wasting money on unsuccessful government programs, that makes it okay.

  • The crazy thing is that in this video at 1:51 Reagan speaks about the "big spenders" charging everything on the "tax payer express card" and who would have thought that was gonna happen 25 years later, Obama and pelosi must have been listening....

This is the exact mess Reagan was warning the country to avoid but with the proliferation of political correctness and class-warfare it was a matter of time.

  • whats laughable is Reagen would be a liberal by today's standards super right-wing standards of the republican mainstream

  • @MrOnlinePsychology your an idiot, conservatives have stayed exactly the same since the foundation of this country, the big goverment republicans and Democrats (liberals) have been moving left since the 30s. A good perspective is this : Liberals are now the 80s communists, Democrats are now the 80s socialists, Republicans are now the 40s Democrats, And conservatives were the 50s Republicans (also now known as right winged radicalists) So IKE was a radical?

  • @mikethebassguy - in 1946 the the top income bracket was 90 percent. under Reagen it was 50 percent, and under obama its 35 percent. the political spectrum is moving right. the social spectrum is moving left like gay rights etc but the fiscal spectrum is moving wayyy more right wing. if America is so left wing then where is your public healthcare? did you know that Romney paid less than half the taxes of his father. America is moving right on economic issues

  • @MrOnlinePsychology Im talking about the social spectrum. The economic spectrum will balance itself in a free trade situation. (see the auto industry) Im worried about the social spectrum though, and Obamacare is socialized healthcare, the act that Bush sr (emergency rooms can't turn away people without insurance) is socialized healthcare.

  • @mikethebassguy Im from New Zealand, we have both a public option and a private option. Obama care is not socialized health care, it was just something he took from mitt Romney health care plan. In New Zealand DO have socialized health care and its great.

  • @MrOnlinePsychology there is no option, unless im mistaken, you can opt to pay for private healthcare, but your still getting taxed for the public healthcare. I believe it should all be private, im 23 making 35k a year and i can afford it no problem.

  • @mikethebassguy - im not an expert, but the right-wing talking point of "obama care" being something so left wing that it undermines your very freedom is crazy talk. I say this because i have lived in both Australia and NZ and both of our healthcare plans are public or "socialized" and nobody is complaining over here. your ostensibly "liberal" president who is more conservative than our conservative leader john quay would be labeled a communist for suggesting NZ healthcare plans

  • @MrOnlinePsychology Not crazy talk just how we view it. And he would be called a communist. We don't like your system but we don't raise our voice to it, so why do yall have to raise your voice when we say we want to remain a privatized healthcare?

  • @mikethebassguy - not me. but i believe the first raised voice was from the right-wing when Obama began building healthcare legislation. and i only 'raised my voice' towards you personally.

  • @MrOnlinePsychology Yes it was our voice that was raised when he started brining socialism to this country, so what? we don't want socialism here at all, personally i hate socialism like i hate communism and nazism (technically they are all the same in being big goverment) and i didn't like bush either for he was another social progressive.

  • @mikethebassguy Is this a clear-cut case of media bias, or an appropriate contrast in press coverage of two very different calamities? In one of the few prominent criticisms of Obama’s crisis management, The New York Times explicitly acknowledged a resemblance between the bumbling reaction of the Obama and the Bush administrations to their respective Gulf Coast catastrophes.

  • @mikethebassguy i mean WE DO have socialized health care

  • Buffet cries foul on secretary’s critics. Why shouldn't she be scrutinized like Joe the plumber was? SHE & BUFFETT brought her into the spot light she is fair game for getting to the truth about her life. just ask Joe how that works.

  • Reagan did have class. He made the United States look good. Not like the present occupier of the White House.

  • Not my favorite president, however I could listen to his jokes and stories all day.

  • incentives for economic growth, which was implemented first with a reduction in the top income tax rate of 70% down to 50%, and then a 25% across-the-board reduction in income tax rates for everyone. The 1986 tax reform then reduced tax rates further, leaving just two rates, 28% and 15%.

God bless the last real american POTUS who loved our country and did great works on making it strong.

We build cure theaters to help (if they can) our mixed up libs or at least make them comfortable before..

  • @phoenixbornagain Great post !

"God bless the last real american POTUS who loved our country and did great works on making it strong."

  • @dubt you are an example of how stupid liberals are.

A fall in real median family income that began in 1978 snowballed to a decline of almost 10% by 1982. In addition, from 1968 to 1982, the Dow Jones industrial average lost 70% of its real value, reflecting an overall collapse of stocks. President Reagan campaigned on an explicitly articulated, four-point economic program to reverse this slow motion collapse of the American economy:

    1. Cut tax rates to restore

  • Hey libs on my profile page check out the secret video smuggled out of the powerful "cure theater" group out there funded by the wall street anonymous contributors.

  • Looks like 'Rick Perry' in the thumbnail !

  • @yadig2012 It does.

The Washington establishment at the time argued that this inflation was now endemic to the American economy, and could not be stopped, at least not without a calamitous economic collapse. All of the above was accompanied by double -igit interest rates, with the prime rate peaking at 21.5% in 1980. The poverty rate started increasing in 1978, eventually climbing by an astounding 33%, from 11.4% to 15.2%.

  • Ronnie, we all miss you.

  • @michellekwan483 All goog people do miss him.

When President Reagan entered office in 1981, he faced actually much worse economic problems than President Obama faced in 2009. Three worsening recessions starting in 1969 were about to culminate in the worst of all in 1981-1982, with unemployment soaring into double digits at a peak of 10.8%.

At the same time America suffered roaring double-digit inflation, with the CPI registering at 11.3% in 1979 and 13.5% in 1980 (25% in two years).

  • One of the best,God bless.

  • @jprayman73 So true.

Reaganomics Vs. Obamanomics: Facts And Figures.

In February 2009 They wrote an article for The Wall Street Journal entitled “Reaganomics v Obamanomics,” which argued that the emerging outlines of President Obama’s economic policies were following in close detail exactly the opposite of President Reagan’s economic policies. As a result, they predicted that Obamanomics would have the opposite results of Reaganomics. That prediction seems to be on track.

  • I too laugh at Communism and Liberalism.

  • @IchLiebeHitlerWaffen I voted for Reagan too! WHITE POWER

  • That rug on his head, dyed with No. 2 red dye, is funny.

  • Why don't we have politicians like this in the UK.

  • @Jinjajamie They don't exist like this anywhere. Reagan was one of a kind.

  • how old was he when he was in office?

  • @iTitanium he was 69 when he won the 1980 election.

  • That man just looms larger, and larger, and larger.

  • @whitemanwaydownsouth better fish in this pond to smash over the head

  • @footstomp1 We're into statistics today and the unemployment statistics are just fascinating in the way that we're being spun. It's as bad as the way we were spun on this debt deal, and the more you look at this debt deal, what a disaster that is.

This must be why liberals lost to Scott Brown, Bob Turner, why the 2010 elections resulted in them losing congress and almomst the senate and why they are going to lose ALL GOVERNMENT IN 2012 ^_^

  • @powerhawk2000 Only half the number of Republican caucus goers showed up in Iowa two weeks ago, as compared to 2008.

Gosh, do you think that portends something?

  • @RandallFlaggNY This is false, I just looked it up. In 2008 aboout 118,500 voted. In 2012 about 120,500 voted. Don't get stats from NBC,CBS,ABC,CNN,or MSNBC

  • Exclusive: Study shows ObamaCare will destroy as many as 700,000 jobs by 2019. During the ObamaCare summit three weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi declared that the bill would create four million jobs over the next ten years, with 400,000 new jobs created almost immediately.

  • All Presidents get remembered both for good and for bad... Hopefully mostly good.

...Respects for those who tried and dared.

  • Obama stated there needs to be a more tolerant tone in america. He has that right he needs to go on air and condem the entire DNC and their supporters. Examples of liberal hate speech, here is the list:

Keith Olbermann 'Called To The Floor' for Bristol Palin 'Worst Person' Segment?

  • GOD PLEASE GIVE US BACK RONALD REAGAN IN RETURN WILL GIVE U HERMAN CAIN !!!!!

  • My Hero

  • Reagan was a great President. America was, and could still be, an amazing nation.

  • @Gregsok Oh im sorry are you a better president lol

  • Dear Mayan;

Goodness gracious, run along now… I'm certain --somewhere in your city-- there must be an occupooper camp where you could be doing something useful like squeezing out a big ol’ stinky steaming pile of excrement on top of some poor slugs car.

  • @mayansamurai if there's one thing you learn in life; it's so respect others. Another thing I learned is not to be a coward. You sir are a coward insulting a president with no evidence to support your case.

  • @iownyouatlife Dam well stated! Excelelnt post

  • @fergster11 Lucky for us, you've already used up your 3 wishes with the genie you've been hanging with.

  • @mayansamurai WOW...You really hate Reagan? I thought the left was loving and kind...I guess I was wrong..

  • @mayansamurai Oh, you atheists. His body lies in peace in the ground, but he's with his Lord and Savior. You, however, seem to be rotting on top of the ground.

  • @GetItRight4aChange ^_^ B9 you sunk his liberal maggot infestated battleship

  • @GetItRight4aChange My, my. YOU are quotable! Bravo and five stars.

  • OWER LAST HOOP !!!

  • Reagan was a God. Now sadly America is ruled by an illiterate muslim foreigner. Obama is scum, a Berber monkey, who can barely speak English. Reagan crushed the Persians, Iraqis, Afghanistanis and Russian fashists. Regan had class and homour. Obama is a monkey he is a bad actor a bad hypocrite and has nothing to do with America.

  • @MrAugustus88 ... LOL, your knowledge of Reagan's administration is terribly lacking.

  • @fergster11 no more so then king bigot fergter

  • 127 liberal faggots like to molest collies

  • Yep you are.

  • How sad this limping disease ridden self delusional virus is crawling towards the battle like some slightly larger then normal hermit crabs.

  • @phoenixbornagain And that disease appears to be incurable - called liberalism. The mental institutions of the mentally insane must be filled to capacity by these viruses by now.

  • @Chris6134 Pelosi relied on a study written by the left-wing advocacy group Center for American Progress for those figures, although the Bureau of Labor Statistics already predicts growth in the health-care industry of 3.2 million jobs without ObamaCare.

Now, Americans for Tax Reform and the Beacon Hill Institute have conducted their own study using CAP’s methodology and determined that ObamaCare will destroy jobs, not create them.

  • @powerhawk2000 I didn't have to wait for any group or institution to make a "study" to know that ObamaCare was a bad idea. I knew that before that idiot Pelosi said "We need to pass this bill so we can see what is in it." Obama is an arrogant, egotistical, lying jackass, and Pelosi and Reid are just like him.

  • From deep with in the home of rock and dung belonging to an old evil... known by many names such as blujesus, john777, queenie and more... the disruption in the ethersphere by one of gods faithful cause "it" to stir. • truly the bob hawke of american politics . god bless ya ronnie :)

  • @bry3921 And we invite you to read the bible and get a better understanding of god. Merry Christmas

  • I remember when I was very young during Reagan's second term. Money was coming in so fast I didn't know what to do with it. The economy had really rebounded. Reagan's personality reflected on this era. People were laid back, music was fun, times were good. Fashion was colorful.

  • @anebturia Yes I really enjoyed the 1980's. Those were the best of times ^_^

  • Since President Reagan left the White House in 1989, the U. S. has stumbled, so it is wise to ponder why Reagan did so well. Was it natural intelligence or careful political training? Not really—and that fact both galls and baffles his critics. Reagan had three parts to his genius. First, he was a visionary; he believed that people wanted freedom and would do well when more of it was given to them.

  • No president of the 20th century had a more positive and enduring influence than Ronald Reagan, who was born 99 years ago today. Other presidents, from Wilson to FDR, exceeded Reagan in their impact, but much of it was negative. Sure, they won wars, but they almost destroyed the American economy as well. Reagan, by contrast, won the Cold War and also revived the American economy from decades of abuse. He was successful both at home and abroad.

  • oh, and less we forget he traded hawk missiles to the enemy; 5 times; in exchange for the hostages. The financial reward funded an illegal war of terror, which funded cocaine thru Noriega, which flooded the cities with crack. I'm trying to tell you all: pick another hero. He was a suburban kid from Illinois, shit actor who was upstaged by a chimpanzee. Try and listen and study on Dwight David Eisenhower; the conservative who led the liberation of Europe. Grenada? Please!

  • God Damn, As a Liberal I hate his polices but as a student of politics its undeniable that Regan was probably the greatest politician in modern history,

  • Obama The Scared President. A new account of Obama’s White House alleges that the president’s staff ignored his orders—and got away with it. Michael Tomasky on Obama’s failed leadership, and how he can fix it. This is just about the right time, according to recent history, for the appearance of inside-the-White-House accounts that show the president in an other-than-flattering light.

  • I AM THE BIGGEST LIBERAL EVERRRR!!!! ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT SUPPORTED RONALD REAGON SHOULD GO TO HELL!!!!

  • @fightingirishman726 Who actually admit or says out loud that they're a liberal these days? Heh You don't have a lot of friends do you?

  • I was a young Marine prior to his taking office. All my issued combat gear was still stained with the red dirt of Vietnam, our vehicles, equipment, spare parts as well as our technology were outdated and lacking in numbers. Prior to his last term in office, the economy improved, I had updated gear, new weapons & vehicles, our technology improved 100%...the whole country had a cense of purpose and pride. When I think of political leadership & character at it's best I think of President Reagan.

  • Greatest President in history without a doubt!

  • @Murray13j thats bullshit

he turned into a militarist near the end of his rule. his rhetoric was great but he wasnt a conservative

  • @TwistedComplex And what was the result of this "militarist?" Oh yeah, the Soviet Union collapsed thanks to Reagan. If he isn't, who is? Other than Lincoln & Washington of course.

  • @TwistedComplex I don't know why you said "he." Reagan did none of those personally...the government did. Obviously the purpose was of all that was so that they would be able to fight the Soviets. Saddam ensured our government that Iraq and the US were at peace. Saddam just got power hungry and that's why we went in to take him out of power. The same goes for Bin Laden. We would have been much more cautious if we knew that they were going to do the things they did but we didn't.

  • @Murray13j saddam took no action against the US

the reason why we attacked him was because we THOUGHT (again, no proof) that he would attack saudi arabia. why? because we GAVE him the weapons to attack them

its like giving a teenager 2 million dollars and then getting mad when they spend it

both the US and USSR were power hungry after emerging from WW2. the soviets didnt want to leave anyone alone and the US didnt want to leave anyone alone

  • @TwistedComplex Did I said that Saddam took action against the US? No. We went into Iraq for other reasons than your so called liberal reason. It was believed that Iraq had WMD's. Turns out that they were also weaponizing anthrax. Saddam also started two wars of aggression so we felt we had to get involved. Like I said, we did not give weapons to Iraq to attack Saudi Arabia, we gave them weapons to attack the USSR when the US and the Soviet Union were trying to gain for power.

  • @Murray13j Amen

  • @bry3921 Actually, everything I said was right. The Soviet Union was going down but the military build-up did cause them to go bankrupt. Everything you said after that makes no sense what-so-ever.

  • He first commissioned a panel to get rid of billions of government waste, but no legislator did anything about it. Personality-wise he was very laid back and easy-going. The late 80s reflected a happy, carefree time. I loved the mid-to-late 80s. Reagan was very popular.

  • The Greatest President in History. Its too bad we have no good republicans like him. If we did, he would win by a landside anyday. God Bless Ronald Reagan - A Hero, A Savior and quite A Father. Jimmy was a foolish disaster for a president. Reagan had visions - Jimmy had none.

  • The best. Thumbs up Americans.

  • For many years I was a Democrat, but I took an arrow in the knee.

  • Ronald Reagan, Why do the good ones always die so young?

  • Ronald Reagan was a great president the 80's rule

  • @HSamir123 because he didnt care about democrat or republican sides of things in him as much as he cared about the country and we the people.

  • Why do people always have to be so right or left? some of these comments are ridiculous.. this is why nothing gets done in congress

  • Once an actor always an actor.

  • @MrRazorblade999 if actors could run a country like Reagan, we should be on the phone w/some agents right now!
