  • Am i allowed to use this song for a video? I'll give full credit to Nick Glennie-Smith.

  • 2 people have no heart D:

  • I was 13 years old and I watched every race. He runs like the ground is the very air he breaths. He cannot get enough. I want to see him in heaven when I die.

  • It makes me think, that everything is in slow mode at the begginning me and my Thourobred are at the starting line camera closes up on his feed stomping in the dirt, him thrashing his head back and forth ready to turn that first barrel we take off every step he makes is in slow mode hitting his perfect stride and bolting out of the gate

  • I Love this Movie soo Much, And those who hit the dislike button should just go away forever

  • i kind of wish they used a variation of this for the final turn instead of the gospel song, for me it just killed the mood. Throughout the entire race, with that beautiful instrumental music, I was getting pumped up, and sitting on the edge of my seat, even though I knew what was going to happen. And then that gospel music started and immediately took all that excitement away, I was severely disappointed.

  • this song and Secretariat inspire me to be a jockey

  • @dickran2142battle yesss! everybody say: I wanna be a jockey!! :-))))

  • I love how in the actual movie, when Penny's voice says

"He laughs at fear, afraid of nothing" you can see the whites of Secretariat's eyes.

It makes my day every time. (and every day)

  • This song. If only i had the music to play on my cello. This song touches my heart. Makes me near cry everytime.

  • Secretariat & This song are so inspiring to me, It maes me wanna push harder, try harder, run faster, jump higher, train harder, and become whatever is possible. Like if you agree.

  • where can i get this?

  • Secretariat will live forever..

  • Secretariat is Gods Horse and a Gift for Us to love and remember. Truly a ONE of a Kind!

  • @WASolomon Secretariat was an amazing horse!

But no need to resort to supernatural explanations...

  • Secretariat will forever be the most amazing horse that ever lived, sad that few knew his name before this movie but now he can be acknowledged for the legend he is.

  • this song makes me want to race me horse again and call him secretariat, only problem is getting him to go as fast as secretariat. :} the reason secretariat ran so fast is because he had 2 hearts.

  • kinda reminds me to the halo music...

  • greatest horse and movie in world

  • it's movies and music like this that show's humanity at its greatest

  • i feel like i could take on the whole world when i hear this music!

  • i love music like this, true music doesn't need lyrics to describe the feeling.

close your eyes and you know what i'm talking about

you just see a story playing inside your head

  • Where can I get this music?

  • I got goosebumps before it started amazing horse!!!!

  • I just wish I could have seen Secretariat when he was alive, such an amazing horse. <3 horses are my life, and although I am not hugely into thoroughbred racing, I definitely respect it and acknowledge amazing and unique horses like him. Although I am a human-being and not a horse, Secretariat is inspirational...I don't know if that makes sense to you guys or not...<3 RIP Big Red.

  • This gives me goosebumps. It's such a beautiful score. Nick Glennie-Smith has so much talent...I couldn't imagine composing something as amazing as this. I listen to it multiple times a day. <3

  • awesome soundtrack. I bet Secretariat and Hickstead will be great friends :')))))

  • Secretariat would be amazed and proud.

  • Amazing music!

  • Beautiful powerful music for a beautiful and powerful horse. I was 16 when I saw him run, at Belmont for the triple crown, its something I will never forget. I'm glad that this movie was made so that those that never saw him or knew about him can know what a great race horse he was.

  • Over three thousand years ago, a man named Jobe complained to God about all his troubles. And the Bible tells us that God answered. "Do you give the horse his strength? Or clothe his neck with a flowing mane? Do you make him leap like a locust; striking terror with his proud snorting."

  • Does anyone know of a place I can get this song?? I've looked everywhere and nothing has it :( Its absolutely amazing and I want it. Ugh

  • @emilycummings04 You can upload Youtube downloader and upload this to yourself with it. ^^

  • @emilycummings04 Try Zamzar

  • The Writer, The Producers, The Director, The Cast, and the Composer. They were a winning team just like the Owner, The Trainer, The Jockey, the Groom, and the Horse.

  • I love this video, Secretariat was a special horse. and I agree with the other comments. But who is disliking this song? they should be ashamed.

  • The source of life ( God ) lives in animals as well as us humans, Secretariat is perfect example of this fact.

  • I always cry when i hear this song. SECRETARIAT was the greatest horse who ever lived!

  • NO horse will ever come close to beating Secretariat, I wasn't old enough when he ran to remember but I've just admired him my entire life. the horse had such passion for what he did

  • this reminds me of the movie Spirit!! I LOVE IT

  • Just watched this movie, it was amazing and I got goosebumps at the end, and when this awesome music came on...just wow

  • its truly majestic music, just like secretariat was a truly majestic horse. its not just the music, its the story behind the music that makes it amazing.

  • its truly majestic music, just like secretariat was a truly majestic horse

  • This song kind of reminds me of the theme from National Treasure.... anyway, both are amazing =)

  • if you like this music, listen to national treasure soundtracks, they sound almost identical!!! i love this kind of music, it pumps me up for whatever is coming next.

  • you want to talk about weird, this song will be played at the end of my funeral with pictures of my life from beginning to end.

  • This horse is my idol.

  • love it!the music reminds me a lot of Pirates of the caribbean

  • so beautifull makes me want to cry!

  • If only people could see the real beauty in music. This is a fine example.

  • Do you give the horse his strength?

Or Clothe his neck with a flowing mane?

Do you make him leap like a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting?

He paws fiercely, rejoicing in his strength, and charges into the fray.

He laughs at fear afraid of nothing.

He does not shy away from the sword, the quiver rattles against his side, along with the flashing spear and lance.

In frenzied excitement he eats up the ground.

He can not stand still, when the trumpet sounds..

  • i love the part in the belmont stakes when secretariat passes sham

  • I watch the movie Twice a day! secretariat is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Go Secretariat!!!

    <3<3<3<3<3<3

i watch the movie at least once a day!

  • I love this. more than any other motion picture score.

  • I love the movie and i love horses i love everything about that movie but it always gets me in deep though so does this song at the end and during the movie. That is some prize for loosing a coin toss

  • anyone else say...Spirit train scene!? 8D

  • <3 Secretariat<3

  • Every time i hear this music and that one part of where the announcer says "And Secretariat moving like a tremdous Machine!" i get goosebumps and chils that run down my body! The best horse movie made!

  • Dear "darkislandfilms", I've been looking for the sound score to Secretariat for the longest time. And I can't find it!!! Do you know of a place where I can get this glorious instrumental score? Thank you!~

  • Someone should make a horse music vid with this music!!!..it would be beautiful!!!

  • Ah to many chills

  • when i was watching the movie and saw him run that last race, i got this feeling, i dont know why.He must of been a realy special horse :)

    run secretariat! run!!

hope he had a wonderfull life!

  • @piggiesmile Must have been? How bout still is a special horse. More like still is the greatest race horse of all times or to set foot on any track in history. Blew away previous records, timings, furlongs. Stands down without a doubt as THE greatest race horse anyone has ever seen or heard of.

  • he does not shy away from fear. he laughs at the thought . for only one horse could be so victorious. one animal brought life to tracks. His name? well, the glorious Secretariat! when they said to let him run... he ran! and today? He Still Runs On!!

  • If only Secretariat himself could hear this..

  • This song is fantastic, however, the movie could use some improving. Of course, it is a disney film and therefore was aimed towards families rather than horse enthusiasts, but i would have liked to see more stress on how truly amazing the horse was. For another great horse movie, watch seabiscuit.

  • This soundtrack is amazing. I love horses, they are truly amazing creatures. They never sease to amaze me the things that they can do. This song makes me recall my thoughts. I loved the movie secretariat, such a brilliant horse. What a BEAUTIFULL film.

  • I love this song so much! :D

Secretariat was truly an amazing horse, I seem to have a soft spot for Seabiscuit though. But they were both truly the most epic race horses ever to run the track.

  • does anyone know the "official" name of the song in the first five minutes? I have only been able to find it on a soundtrack of all the songs from the movie. thaanks,

  • @myluckyshamrock94 p.s. the whole soundtrack/movie is amazing! <3 and this song is incredible. words can't describe how this makes me feel(that sounds a little weird.)...it's so beautiful.

  • WOW!!! I'm crying now!!! How joyous, wonderful, epic, the greatest horse! A Super Movie and a Super Horse!!! Rest in Peace "Big Red", a.k.a., Secretariat......

  • This probably sounds weird, but every time I listen to this song I get goosebumps. It just goes to show you how beautiful music can really be!

  • @piethefish When music gives you goosebumps, then you know it must have some quality (: That's the thing about music. It can make you feel the way it wants to. Whether it's happy, sad, thoughtful, remorseful.... Music.... has a mind of its own. It's just..... beautiful. If only music was this beautiful today. Because sadly..... music has been so corrupted by sex, drugs, money, clubs, drinking..... It's a shame.

  • @piethefish I DO THE SAME!!!!

    it is just so beautiful!!

  • @piethefish that;s not weird! That's a natural reaction you're SUPPOSED to get when you listen to music like this! It's incredible! :D

  • @piethefish ya i get that too its really wierd

  • what is this song called?

  • @runner141001 it's not a song it's a mixture of songs

  • @futurejockey8 Did you make the mix?

  • @runner141001 nope. but it's a MIX. Not just one song.

  • @futurejockey8 do you know what the mix is called?

  • @runner141001 nope, sorry :( but it's a mix so it most likely wouldn't be sold in a place like iTunes as a mix. You would need to know the individual songs in the mix, which I don't know those either.

  • Epic soundtrack ^^

  • the first song is so amazing, Nick is a genuis with composition it gave me chills : )

so amazing its unbelievable! fits a great horse too!

  • SO EPIC!

  • This was such an amazing movie!I love how when you're watching the race it just feels so suspenseful with the soundtrack and the crowds cheering! :D

  • This music makes me want to conquer the world

  • Comment removed

  • I love the one that plays right When Secretariat gets to the Derby and he and Sham have a stair down I can't find that track anywhere

  • Do you know where to find the soundtrack?

  • great movie, great soundtrack, wonderfull animal. all the love from a big horse admireror

  • I love the horn at 4:42 :D

  • Imádom ezt a filmet...egyszerűne hihetetlen,h a lovak mire képesek.lenyűgöző és csodálatos,a zene pedig tettekre sarkal.mikor meghallom ezt a zenét,érzem,ahogy egyre izgatottabb lestek...Imádom!

  • awesome soundtrack.

  • The glory of his nostrils is terrible. He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword. The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield. He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.

  • He's moving like a tremendous machine!

    It's Secretariat by 31 lengths!

    <3333

I may not have been alive when this horse ran but ever since I was little I've loved Secretariat from what my mother had told me.

I watch the Triple Crown every year and while I hope to see another winner in the upcoming years, I'm sure there will never be such an amazing and miraculous animal such as this one.

This soundtrack certainly does Secretariat's story justice.

  • @Kalaziel

Secretariat showed us just how powerful, strong, fast, and beautiful a horse can really be. All horses can show us why they have lived thousands even millions of years longer than humans have or ever will, because it is horses that inspired man to do things he would have never done before. They inspired cars, countries, people, architecture, and our very life. Many people want to be just like them and aspire to be as in tune to nature, to life, as these great animals.

  • this is a great movie! I just got through watching it on demand. I love this soundtrack...where can I buy or download it?

  • What are all the instruments used to play this song?

  • @blastingthumper1 cellos, violins, drums, and I don't know what else but it's awesome!!!

  • Seriously. I can't find it in any music stores and I am about to go crazy! Does anyone know where I can actully go out and buy this soundtrack?

  • Can anyone tell me if the song which is on this mix, first 5 min, is call Nick Glennie-Smith - I am Free... I'm not really sure if this is! thanks!

  • OMG this masterpiece is literally tugging at my heartstrings

  • Oh my gosh thanks for posting this! I love it! :D

  • This song is so amazing! And so was the movie :D

  • Thank you for posting this copy, as when I heard it in the movie I knew I wanted it apart of a presentation that I'm doing as it is so positive in it's movement. I've heard other scores by Mr. Glennie and they're all so beautiful and applicible for every movie he's ever done. Thank you, thank you for placing.

I have a son that composes I only pray that he will come to a portion of this talent over his lifetime.

    JoA

  • Maestro de Maestro!!

  • whats funny is that this horse was born before almost everyones time who is commenting on this...

  • @jmaritz328

What a legacy for such an amazing horse. May he forever be remembered from generation to generation.

  • all i can say is ITS SECRETARIAT BY 31 LENGTHS

    i <3 that horse

  • @demonskywolf I actually thought it was 33 ;D but i agree <3

  • @demonskywolf ikr! i keep on saying SECRETARIAT WINS! like all the time at school!!! AHHHH he is my fav horse in the world (also my horse :P)

  • come on guys, in my mind, ruffian and zenyetta where both great horses, no matter how many starts they had or what their bloodlines are.

  • i thought the trailer was already beautiful and brought me to tears..... ;')

  • Just to let you guys know if your little favorite horse wins the triple crown and at the last race wins more than 31 lengths at 3 years of age and at the last race runs full out the whole time well then you can brag all you want on how your horse is better than Secretariat

  • Unreal, purely amazing. Not much affect me but this is sublime.

  • i love this!

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Any idea where you can get/buy the soundtrack?

    It's so beautiful.

    Truly captures the whole story.

  • Comment removed

  • i love the first song, it sends chills down my back

  • God hasn't made a better horse yet....

  • secretariat was the fastest, and best horse there was of all time but if ruffian didn't suffer her injury and had time to shine then she would have been the fastest undefeated filly of all time.

  • @jmaritz328 zenyatta went faster then ruffian

  • Comment removed

  • secretariat was the best male horse of all time but if ruffian hadn't had such an injury then she would have been the fastest, undefeated race horse of all time.

  • @jmaritz328 and secrateriat is considerd the greatest horse that ecer lived. in his otosie(sorry i i spelt it wrong) it was found that his heart was twice the size of a normal horses. zenyatta goldikova and many more orses were faster then ruffian

  • @BreyerGirl25by stride, due to the fact that zenyatta was 17.2 hands and ruffian was around 15 or 16 hands. but Man O' War ran 3 times as fast as zenyatta considering he had a 27 foot stride! ruffian would have been among the best if she didn't tear up her leg the was she did...

  • @jmaritz328 wth!! 27 feet!! holy fuck!!!:O

  • @BreyerGirl25 Ruffian was undefeated in her first ten races, covering distances from 5.5 furlongs (1.1 km) to 1.5 miles (2.4 km) with an average winning margin of 8 1/3 lengths. She won her maiden race in record time and by 15 lengths. She set a new stakes record in each of the eight stakes races which she won. She had also equaled two track records.all of her time records still stand and she beat the immortal Secretariat's speed records for 5 1/2, 6, 7 and 10 furlong races.

  • @BreyerGirl25 sure zenyatta had faster times at 1 1/16 of a mile than ruffian but not by much, and you also have to take into account that synthetic makes a horse seem faster then on dirt, if zen had ran on dirt she would probably be about 2 seconds slower.it's funny how the many rabid zen fans join speed & winning streaks simultaneously, just because she won 19 in a row doesn't make her fast and doesn't make her the greatest.any horse can win 19 in a row when they are against mediocre horses

  • @VivaLaEquus ruffin had champion bloodlines in he. zenyatta did not. that clearl shows she was better by far because she was natural. yes ruffin was amazing but zenyatta has beaten her time by far.

  • @HeadDog101 Ruffian wasn't raced to her peak, if she hadn't had broken down I'm sure she would have proven to have much faster times than Zenyatta. Ruffian was only three when she broke down, while Zenyatta was only starting in races in her late 3 year old year; Ruffian still had alot more in her. I also don't see how Zenyatta's less than stellar bloodlines makes her better than Ruffian.

  • @HeadDog101 actually, zenyetta is related to war admiral, not trying to start and argument or anything...

  • Comment removed

  • @BreyerGirl25 Lucien Lauren, the trainer of Secretariat, even said about Ruffian, "As God as my witness, she may be even better than Secretariat."

  • I love secretariat and I wish I was old enough to understand what great of horse he was, but there might be a new queen of horse racing and if she gets another winning streak of 19 she is going to be better than Secretariat and her name is Zenyatta . Also her name is on the spell check thing on the iPod haha that's soo cool I just found that out!

  • @algreen121 just because she won 19 in a row does NOT make her better than him. if she was in the 1973 Belmont he would have annihilated her. winning 19 in a row doesn't make them the greatest horse ever. Pepper's Pride won 19 in a row and she certainly can't be compared to the great horses like ruffian, cigar, citation. zen is good but defiantly not great. any horse can win 19 in a row when they are stuck in the same state and against mediocre mares and fillies

  • @VivaLaEquus ok dude calm down I do agree with you Secretariat is the best horse who ever lived, just after I posted that comment I watched the movie about him and i wasn't around when Secretariat won that race so i didn't no that he won by 31 LENGHTS! it was amazing!!

  • @algreen121 zenyattas good but secretariats better

  • @TheExoticAnimal ya...I kinda figured that out :) I didn't really know about the horse until I watched the movie and now I todally agree!

  • @algreen121 at first i thought the same i really thought zenyatta was better than secretariat but i watched the movie and now i believe no horse is going to break secs record but i shouldnt say that... there could be a horse out there that might be better but no horse has secretariats heart to run :)

  • @TheExoticAnimal YA I no! I just hopw its in my life time if that ever happens :)

  • @algreen121 same here :D

  • Secretariat is; Secretary in english ??

  • @96lagos

One definition of secretariat is a group or department of secretaries. I've seen some furniture called a secretariat that resembles a small desk. I hope this helps to answer your question. :)

  • @Seahorsefan but the movie, it's not about Secretaries, right ?, it's about horses, why this name ??

  • @96lagos It's the horses name.

  • Comment removed

  • Where in the world can I buy this? I checked on amazon and itunes but found nothing!! Assistance appreciated =)

  • @CoversOnKeys they have youtube to mp3 converters online try video2mp3

  • Who is that at the door?

  • This music is filled with power, emotion, and inspiration. This is a great movie and great soundtrack. The movie is very inspiring and heart touching and so is the music. In fact, I think the music really made the movie even more effective and powerful.

Hoorah to Secretariat, the greatest racehorse who ever lived. I'm glad his story was told in such a great way. Randall Wallace and Disney did an excellent job in telling his story.

  • 1:43 is where i start to get chills

  • Thank you for posting this. I have been looking for the soundtrack ever since the movie came out. What a wonderful soundtrack. What a wonderful movie. What a wonderful horse!

  • where can I buy this soundtrack?

  • @blastingthumper1 seconded!

  • @blastingthumper1 free converter

  • what a nice warm sound !

    absolutely beautiful

  • @ JRS 1982 Disney did get oscar nominations for Disney's The Little Mermaid Beauty and the Beast Aladdin The Lion King Pixar's Toy Story 1and 2 A Bugs Life Monsters Inc. Finding Nemo The Incredibles Cars Ratatioulle Wall-E and Up and Probley next for Toy Story 3 Cars 2 and Marvel's Captain America: The First Avengers

  • @Gbob202 Pretty much all of those were Pixar-productions. Disney has been around for a century, and it makes a lot of good but not great movies. Miramax, WB, Universal--they made great movies. Even Dreamworks.

Captain America isn't gonna win an Oscar outside of technical acievement.

Artistically speaking, Disney has made a lot of touching stuff that isn't particularly creative. I do miss their live action movies.

  • Is there anyway I could get this soundtrack? The song is beautiful but I cannot seem to find it anywhere...

  • I absolutely LOVED this movie. It was a justifying tribute to horse racing's greatest stallion. I think the 1970's was the year for horse racing, as a year later, Ruffian made her presence known by going 11 and 0. I can't help but wonder, though, why Hollywood took so long to make a movie about Secretariat, though.

  • This is a great song I would love the name of it please
