he does put an arm in, but he hits the guy so hard he bounces off before he can secure around him

the tackle looks bad at full speed, so I completely understand where the reffs thinking is, but on the replay it shows that nonu just made a thundering tackle

Ref sees it right, penalty and a chat.

I'd like to see that right arm try to grip - but as you say the player bounces .

Also Nonu is moving into the path of the kicker after the ball has gone.

@manflirt when you're moving at that speed you can't change your direction once you're committed, so he isn't moving INTO the path of the kicker as he was already headed right at him. if you look at the replays nonu enters the frame with his head down, there was no way that nonu could've stopped himself from making that hit.

the argument whether he attempted to grip the player with his arm is a different story though, one which i do think he could've made a better effort to wrap but still.

@CalluW I'm not saying that he changes his direction after the ball has gone, but he clearly moves into the kickers path (and tackles him).

The bet that Nonu makes when he commits to the tackle is - do I think I'll get there and not be late, or is risk that I'll only be a bit late, concede a penalty and rattle the kicker.

He is well aware of what he is doing, concede the penalty and shake the kicker up. That's what his manager wants.

Occasionally he'll lose his bet and get a yellow.
