That lady sits on the board of directors of one of the major banks in the US. I forgot which one, but she is clearly trying to paint a rosy picture to intelligent people. She gets away with it on the BBC but not at this conference.
The poor woman seemed to be trying to defend "economists," who certainly don't all agree with HER (!). Then she felt the need to give a rosy picture of the global economy - and maybe she's right AS FAR AS CERTAIN OTHER GROWING COUNTRIES ARE CONCERNED, but Peter Schiff is totally CORRECT as far as the United States is concerned and the mess our politicians have pushed us into! Go Peter!!
She should have framed her ideas as questions to the PANEL, not tried to become PART OF the panel!
Development has not been higher since the 3rd world was established by colonial Europe.
She wants it both ways - to make her flawed point bigger "1st time in human history since Bretton Woods" and defend it with the "Bretton Woods" disclaimer. Political animal, as they say.
What an idiot she is. She at first says ambiguously "For the first time in human history," then she appears to back off and say "Only since Bretton Woods." If she is only talking about the time period of Bretton Woods, then wtf is her point? I am so glad that people were loudly disagreeing with her.
"2003-2007" were the strongest years in 30 years. So, you know, let's avoid any data from the system that Schiff would actually advocate - a gold standard.
Going back to gold is pretty fucking stupid for at least one simple reason:
- Who's gonna value it ?
--Check mate-- you lose.
There's a way to tie the value of money to what actually gets produced...but that's not it.
Go back to school...

This woman is just trying to state the facts.
She meant to say: her own highly distorted version of 'em.
