Yes PLEASE make sure not to release him and if you give him away make sure that person promises to not release also. These fish are capable of destroying the Great Lakes. I have read they are delicious to eat, do that if you like fish. I had 1 25 years ago, that thing grew so fast it was unreal. I had 130 gallon tank and bought him when he was a baby. In no time he was too big for the tank. I hated it, killed all my fish. Should have killed it before it wiped out my tank. Hate these fish.
Also, just from one fish-keeper to another, feeder goldfish put on a bad-ass show for the camera, but they aren't an appropriate diet for the fish's long term health. They contain a large amount of thiaminase, which can result in thiamine deficiencies and ultimately lead to blindness in fish that eat only feeders. Try switching it up with some guppies or live shrimp, and even better is teaching it to take frozen foods. Of course, a couple of goldfish now and then is fine and fun to watch XD
Against my better judgment, I'm going to get involved here. People hear "snakehead" and assume that it's the same species as the invasive one. This is a warm-water species and wouldn't be able to survive in the cold local water around us (Montreal, Monteregie, etc.). Even in the hot humid summer, the waters stay much too cold for this fish to prosper. This fish IS NOT ILLEGAL in any way where we live. He did not buy this from some obscure, black market pet store that deals in exotics.

Fish head is an extremely aggressive, invasive species from Asia/Africa. It will completely destroy our freshwater ecosystem - rivers and lakes - as it is currently doing. It eats anything and everything all the time compounded by exponential population growth. That is why it is so illegal to own one.
This is about the most Anti-American fish you can own. It is environmental terrorism. Who is to say this doesn't get released into another river or lake.

Three, they are not native to america, so theres not much that hunts them yet. Four, their dangerous because their spreading around the world and ruining the fucking eco system you moron. @rawrmoar well im sorry that fish dont pollinate flowers, but there are animals that will eat snakeheads, like herons, eagles, and other wading birds. we're not completely fucked, if people learned about the fish, the law states that if you catch one, you're supposed to kill it, put it on ice, and contact authorities. I never saw that crappy disney movie, because that wasnt exactly the definition of a documentary

Yes PLEASE make sure not to release him and if you give him away make sure that person promises to not release also. These fish are capable of destroying the Great Lakes. I have read they are delicious to eat, do that if you like fish. I had 1 25 years ago, that thing grew so fast it was unreal. I had 130 gallon tank and bought him when he was a baby. In no time he was too big for the tank. I hated it, killed all my fish. Should have killed it before it wiped out my tank. Hate these fish.

Also, just from one fish-keeper to another, feeder goldfish put on a bad-ass show for the camera, but they aren't an appropriate diet for the fish's long term health. They contain a large amount of thiaminase, which can result in thiamine deficiencies and ultimately lead to blindness in fish that eat only feeders. Try switching it up with some guppies or live shrimp, and even better is teaching it to take frozen foods. Of course, a couple of goldfish now and then is fine and fun to watch XD

Against my better judgment, I'm going to get involved here. People hear "snakehead" and assume that it's the same species as the invasive one. This is a warm-water species and wouldn't be able to survive in the cold local water around us (Montreal, Monteregie, etc.). Even in the hot humid summer, the waters stay much too cold for this fish to prosper. This fish IS NOT ILLEGAL in any way where we live. He did not buy this from some obscure, black market pet store that deals in exotics.

@swp888 well like ive said before, owning a snakehead in your home is absolutely illegal. They are growing and spreading like crazy in Florida. You can not buy them online or anywhere. You would have to catch them and risk being reported to the police.
