  • Please please someone dig up the full version of this,it has to exist! It's too good.

  • This film is just amazing. saw it at the pictures at Grand Central in Stockport in 2002, a cool early summer evening...

wish i'd had someone to share it with

  • Blue Monday acoustic played by John Simm with the glorious Manchester skyline in the background. Perfection.

  • to reiterate, i fuckin love this unplugged version and simm can really hold a tune well.

Why didnt they just increase the price of the blue monday record by about 10p?

  • I have an original 12" of Blue Monday in this floppy disk style. Should have treated it better back in the day!

  • 100% freaking awesome British culture! I'm Greek but I love Britain so much! I'm a huge fan of almost anything British and I've spent months on listening to music, watching movies, interviews, videos, trying to speak with British accents and reading a lot of things just to make sure that I'm able to master the language. Blue Monday is just epic and this version is awesome! John Simm is definitely a cool British guy.

  • I never noticed that the Master played Bernard Sumner in that movie.

  • new order funded factory through out the 80s, so why so little on them after the joy division half?

  • I wish there was more about New Order too. I think probably because the part about Joy Division is *really* about Ian Curtis, whom Tony Wilson considered a genius. He never really spoke much about the collective genius of the "other three."

Love to Ian and all, but Joy Division wouldn't have been anything without Bernard Sumner's incredible songwriting. New Order is a testament to that.

  • you'r right the tya he look to murray but how to know?????

  • is it Dr Conjrad Murray (0:54)???? please, help me!

  • @TheTya85 no, its not. its english actor lennie james

  • It's just... it doesn't get better than this - John Simm singing Blue Monday. I wish there was a full version of this.

  • Oh, me too. That would be amazing.

  • Surely they could've got sombody better than the guy who played Shaun Ryder. I think the actor spoilt the whole film!! He was absolutely nothing like Shaun Ryder, Everybody else was ok, Especialy Steve Coogan, Paddy Considine,Chris Coghill and Sean Harris. Even Ralf little as Peter Hook was ok compared to Danny Cunningham who played Shaun Ryder. Who the fuck picked him and why????

  • I don't seem to recall the scene about the single being included on the DVD--even the deleted scenes. Where is this from?

  • It's in the main film, so would assume it is on the DVD. I don't actually own the DVD though.

  • Did anyone notice that Stephen(drummer) just disappears in the second half of this film. Where is he? Did the actor playing him catch pneumonia while drumming Shes Lost Control?

I like how he disappears, yet his girlfriend Gillian(keyboards) is in a all of the New Order scenes in the second half.

  • great song, great man!

    xx

  • amaying version of Blue Monday, I wish it was on the soundtrack of 24HPP. it sounds so different than other versions of Blue Monday.

  • this version is fucking amazing

  • It'll sell fuck-all, so it doesn't matter...

    lol

  • John Simm !!!

    xD

  • oh indeed!

  • oh, that's great! he's really good. i had no idea! i mean, i knew about him in magic alex, but he just played guitar. thanks very much.

  • oh no he sings backing vocals in Magic Alex too ^^

  • NICE! i feel silly now...but thanks!

he's even more talented than i first thought!

  • is that really john simm singing?

    or is he lipsynching?

  • That's really him :)

  • ".. never count the cost of Music.."

    Factory Records, pure sounds.

  • prefer this version to the original

  • great song.

    but i still prefer JD.

  • Most importantly, John Simm is a such a hottie, so he could be singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider", and it could still be sexy.

  • Haha! John-Simm-and-children's-things-relatedly, have you seen those clips of him telng kids stories on cbeebies? So fucking adorable.

  • Very true. I love this part. I wish it could've been on the soundtrack.

  • "We lose 5p on every single one of these records that we sell."

"We're gonna sell fuck all so it doesn't matter."

    Brilliant.

  • does anybody knows where to find this version of blue monday?, is not present on the OST :(

  • To my knowledge, you can't get it anywhere. Annoying, ain't it? You'll have to make do with the clip.

  • on the extras of 24 hour party people m8

  • didn't expect this to sound good when i watched it because i'm a new order fan but they do it justice with this acoustic version.

  • oh come on new order shits all over joy division which was a mixture of noise & droning brooding monotonous melancholy. The death of Ian Curtis was the best thing that happened to the evolution of music from that staid noise for punks to Sumner's new version of electronic synth of pulsating energy of new order there's no comparison. I expect a few thumbs down from this, from Curtis die hard fans if you'll pardon the pun.

  • I feel the same about Nirvana and Foo Fighters. Kurt Cobain had to off his whiny brooding ass to allow the superior talent of Dave Grohl to finally shine through. There's much more to be found in one Foo Fighters album than in the whole Nirvana catalog.

But Kurt's dead and Dave's alive, so no one will agree with me.

  • I agree with you there. Nirvana are a good band, granted, but Foo Fighters, they're a /great/ band.

  • Ian Curtis was art , but his death did bring about a some of the best music ever written

  • Ian Curtis was art , but his death did bring about a some of the best music ever written

  • Ian Curtis was art , but his death did bring about a some of the best music ever written

  • i agree the first time u said it. :)

  • k quite alot of things wrong with that comment fair enough if you prefer new order. its and opinion but saying it good ian died. what the hell you say you like new order if you went up and said that to hooky he would probably stamp on you

  • I agree with you that New Order is a great band, but Ian initiated the electronic synth himself. Listen to isolation and atmosphere!!! There's a really funny quote from Tony Wilson in 24 hour party people about rise and fall of music genre, could someone help me out?

  • Brilliant film. Love John Simm too, great performance.

  • Oh yes ;o) - its gotta be done - its an amazing performance, but very hard to watch x

  • Better than Bernerd Sumner Meeps

he is really awesome -shame hes so shy x

  • Aw no, I think that makes him even more adorable!

  • yeah that it does in a heartbreaking way *sniff* - don't go and see Elling - it nearly broke me - I just sat there in tears - he is such a STUNNING actor *whimper*

  • I really want to go see that but can't get down to London :(

  • someone in an interview suggested they make a film of it and they both said they'd love to do one - so fingers crossed they make another movie ;o)

  • Thanks for that! If they did, I'd run down to the cinema and camp in line waiting for it, lol!

  • Oh that's so awesome! I'm really looking forward to seeing it now, even more than I was!

  • Wow he can sing 2 lol!!! Hes so kl lol. Byesie bye. Lots of luv from Sarah.

  • I heart Mr. Simm - fantastic film!

  • Fucking brilliant! Simm is really good here.

  • Great clip sung by a fantastic actor/musician.

  • Simm is a Genius
