  • I like the soundtrack. Who's the artist and what's the song name?

  • Fantastic job!!!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • omg, ure the best....can you do something for me? i dont have money, if u need it, i have picture from the air and i would be happy if u would do 3d to me, that was hotel in "novo zvečevo" can u geave me your mail to send u my picture?

  • My dad helped make this program

  • Hello, Awesome houses!!... but i was wondering how you got them to look so real... I have the trial software for x3 but my furniture still looks really cartoonish and fake. Any recommendations would be appreciated : ]

  • @devindolce

These were done in X2. Very few have had good results with X3. I use Thea Render for my renderings now and it's so much faster and gives great results.

Your models (symbols) have a lot to do with what your final render will look like as well. Chief's symbols are low poly which is good for a quick render but not so good for a realistic look.

You might want to download a free demo of Thea Render or use Kerykythea (it's totally free). You will get much better results.

  • @devindolce use the floor camera

  • @devindolce

Sorry it took me so long to answer. First you need better models of furniture than what Chief has to offer. You can find a lot of nice models in Google's 3D Warehouse. Also, X3 has a different built in rendering software than it had before. It's very difficult to get a good raytrace so I now use Thea Render. You can see some of my renders at 3d-diva.com. Some pics were done with Kerkythea (free rendering software) and the recent pics were done in Thea Render.

  • @devindolce i dont know wheter you still are having issues, but the rendering on chief architect is set to basic hence the basic blobs and polygons your seing to change this Edit -> Preferences -> Render -> check all boxes and raise software edge smoothing (to higher levels according to your computers ability as it can slow it down signifigantly)

  • @devindolce Longer render times. Rendering can take ages though on slow rigs.

  • Hi Patricia,

I would like to know if you used the Pov Ray to render your images, or if if you does the rendering with another software ? Please could you also about what graphic card you've used ?

  • @Down23Official

For these renders, I was using Chief Architect x2 and used the built in software "PovRay". I currently use an external software (Thea Render) for my renderings.

  • rofl it looks like the sims

  • Do you get paid for this type of thing?

  • hi there, thanks for your video.chief architect effects are photo realistic with not doubt, but after i watched the tour of the software online,i noticed that they have many updated furniture & other features, but everything is click & drag,it does not support custom workshop if i really want to design a completely different furniture,(not just modify) is that true?please advice, thanks

  • You can create many things in Chief Architect including furniture however it has it's limitations. I wouldn't try to design a sofa due to the rounded edges. Another option to making furniture is Sketchup.

Why don't you download the trial version and see what it does.

    Patricia

  • @leonald9880 Another software that would allow you to do a full customization would be a real 3d software. 3D Studio max or the Free Blender would be the best to really have the ability to do whatever you want in 3d. Of course, the software is not specialized towards only architecture. This means the software won't be as easy to work with than Chief Architect.

  • wich is the best architect software available at the moment???

  • It really depends what you want the software for. You can download the full version of Chief Architect and try it out for size to see if it meets your needs. I's fairly user friendly. Lots to learn but certainly not impossible. There is always ChiefTalk forum where you can get your questions answered by other users. I learned most of Chief via the tutorials and ChiefTalk.

    Good Luck.

    Patricia

  • Ohhhhhh I had a bad experience with Chief Architect........sigh....... I bought it and my computer just would not work with it.....

  • always check the software's specs and your pc's specs prior to buying.

    designing softwares are not cheap.

  • and its difficult to use.

once i go on to 3d mode i cant find a button to take you back to floor plan mode.

plan 3d is ok but it crashes all the time and the camera controls are fiddly.

  • Chief Architect isn't what it used to be. I installed the software and just simply built a 4 wall box and put it in the camera mode only to find the floor was messed up beyond belief: some parts of the floor were sticking up, jagged, some parts missing, the walls weren't together at all!

I am going to continue to use the old Chief Architect because I see no graphic camera problems!

  • Hi There,

The new X2 is huge compared to the other versions. I haven't had much of a problem at all with X2. Was it the trial version from the website that you downloaded? X2 is really nice so maybe give it a second chance by calling Chief support and see what they have to say.

    Patricia

  • Dang, I went to the site very expensive. I want a program to use becasue i plan on being an archietecht. Do you know of any cheaper similar programs?

  • Yes, Chief Architect software isn't cheap but it does a beautiful job and has a lot of architectural features that the cheaper programs don't have. You can take a look at Punch Software. They have a variety of different apps from $29.00 on up depending on what you need. I've used it before. Of course it won't have as realistic look but it's good enough to start with.

    Patricia

  • It's not so much the video card as the processor to render. What really slows down a Raytrace are lights. PovRay only can handle max 8 lights or less (check Video Status again and you will see how many lights your vid card can handle). When you are ready to Raytrace, turn off all the lights that are not in your view. If you built multiple floors turn off all lights on the rest of your floors. You can make lights look like they are lit by applying a white color and make it emissive.

  • I got this software and when I try and do Raytrace, it says there is a material file missing, and also it says "Raytracing Qued" how long does it take, I didn't have the patience, lol it seemed to do nothing

    thanks!

  • If you have moved your material from your original file you saved it in or changed it's name then Chief will not be able to find it. Once you save your materials, don't touch it. Regarding "Queued", it means that you have another Raytrace ready to go. You can have many Raytraces "in line" so to speak. As far as how long it takes depends on what your settings are. The higher your Radiosity and AA, the longer it will take. Also lights and high poly symbols will add to the time.

    Hope this helps.

  • I have a Geforce 7900 GTX, but I let it sit there for like 30 seconds, and nothing happened at all (I'm impatient) lol

  • If you're running Vista, when you open Chief, "run as administrator" each time you open it up.

Unless you have a huge file with a lot of lights and symbols, it shouldn't be bogging down like that. I suggest you go to the Chief Architect website and join the forum. It's free... really good advice and a lot of information. You could also post your plan on the forum and someone can check it out for you. It's a learning curve for sure!

  • I got Windows XP

  • What version of Chief are you using? In X1 or X2 go to Preferences and check your Video Card Status. Make sure that "Acceleration" shows "Installed Client Driver". If that's not in there, then it's your video card. If all else fails then do a reinstall.

  • it's X1, and I did a reinstall, and still... and even when I turn it to simple 3D, it lags like crazy, which is weird because I can play Call of Duty 4 on Ultra High, but I can't display simple 3D? lol

I did see "Installed Client Driver"

  • I'm running out of ideas. Did you check out ChiefTalk on the Chief Architect website?

  • ....also you need at least a dual core

  • oh, maybe that's why, lol still tho, it really shouldn't require that. it doesn't seem that graphically intense to me...

  • How much should we charge to Visualize One Fully Decorated Room ?

  • thanks for your info. I'll give it a try

  • patricia that is amazing. which program did you use to make this? it seems so real! I use archicad and it seems like (bad designed)cartoon compared to yours.

  • Thank you very much.

I use Chief Architect version X1 to do the build and the rendering is done with PovRay which is built into Chief Architect. The stand alone PovRay gives a much better result but it's too confusing for me. You can go to Chief Architect's website and download a full trial version. It does everything but doesn't allow you to save your work. Give it a try.

    Patricia

  • thats is very nice patricia,

if you are an architect, then i got a question for you.

My dream is to become an architect, but does it earns much?

    arne.

  • Thank you. No I'm not an architect but yes they earn LOTS of money. Study hard.

  • Wow, didn't expected that :O

And does architects for inside the house earn lots to? I mean, not to construct a house but to design it.

    Thanks alot !

  • You may be thinking designer, not an architect.I think it's all about how you market yourself and what type of clientele you reach. The better you are at your designs, the more money you can make.If you're in business for yourself, you set your own payscale but you must be competative as well.I met a person from New York that was paying an architect(not a designer)$150.00 an hr-even for phone calls. Most important is love what you do then it will not seem like work.Follow your dream.

  • okay, thanks

    but i'm confused now,

someone was telling me you can get rich by architecture, and another person told me architecture doesn't pay off, and i really want to ride in a lamborghini later (:

    Thanks.

  • i read on google archiects earn €4000 par month :s

    Is that truth ?

  • I am an architect - don't study architecture - it's time consuming and it really doesn't pay off.. that's what all the teachers in our uni say.. and IT IS REALLY TIME CONSUMING! I don't have any holidays cuz I have to do placements, coursework and projectwork.. really not worth it unless ur dream is to be an architect..

  • well, i believe you it takes lots of time, but it is my dream, and actually, they can make over millions. so wish me luck

  • well i wanted to study graphic design

but.. i think it's not pay off so well

so i decided about studying architecture

what do you think about that?

  • If that is something you think you will love to do then go for it. You have to love what you do.

    Best of luck to you.

    Patricia

  • you're very talented designer

  • ur talented nd pretty

  • Thanks all for your feedback. I strive to get better. I need to update my videos with some current work I've done. I LOVE doing this !!

    Patricia

  • Very well done Pat, it has a great flow to it and the models are very good too.

  • oooo its like the sims its nice almost real

  • Utube does your renderings no justice. I know they're beautiful, but it's hard to tell from here.
