@Titant2 Yep, but it does seem that skyrim was bugger than most of it past incarnations as for Kingdoms of Amalur I watched TB play it and i was impressed with what i saw. True there still a lot of things that are odd about the game. I do like the fact that a mage can use poison fire that a +
@swardinc Mages can't use poison unless you put points into finesse, I should know because I'm damn near level 40 and was a mage from beginning to end, now I'm an Assassin going for Nightblade. Mages get Fire, Ice and Lightning.
@foxet1st hmm i remember in the demo i got a potion i think that turn my sword poison so i though nice poison sword well when i through mister troll. I switched to my fire staff which was shooting green flames, which wowed me that it could do that.
@Titant2 If you read my comment again, i nvr say that it is better than skyrim. I simply stated that some aspects are better. Like the combat and voice acting.

I have skyrim and i love it my 98 full lockpicking and stealth but just look at this game dont say your game is better when you havent played reckoning its awsome, yea skyrim graphics are the best but i kind of like the fantasy graphics.
Ihope this game is as good as it looks and displayed, i was grulling while watching this...its seems real solid. i have no complaints jus by watching the videos. (and im a big critic when it comes to these MMOs) but nothing so far. Ilove the armor and fighting style. and the story seems amazing from what i heared in the last video i seen similar to this. 10/10 for me as of now. WOW
my First hero Started off as Pure Might, but towards the end i went Might/Finesse. Heavy armor provides great defense and daggers deal out great damage, specially coupled with All the sustained abilities providing extra poision damage, bonus crit damage, and battle frenzy. as well as lunge to get behind trolls and the large enemies and to keep staggered enemies from attacking, most humanoid bosses never stood a chance.plus stealth killing is always fun.
@FaxeBeerserker childish? this game is fucking brutal. watch some of the reckoning finishing moves. putting a spear on the ground and dropping your enemies onto it while they scream and blood drips everywhere
from this vid i saw that you can plant traps with finnese, from the demo i know that might unlocks an ability to pull people in and sorcory allows mark of flame(mark a few enemies and activate it later to blow them up) so with all 3 styles you can mark of flame 3 enemies > plant trap > draw enemy into trap > detonate mark of flame for tremendous damage :)
@skaionex the sarcasm is annoying, and i did think up that tactic(have you even seen the damage mark of flame does, the full combo also has a flaw with it haveing high mana cost) and i could allways follow it up with even more damage from another spell or a greatsword.
@skaionex i wasn't paying enough attention to see the pull ability being used when i posted my comment, and that person didn't do mark of flame as well.
@ar7h3 Have you played the demo? It was an early alpha build that was handed off to another dev team to finish and the mage is AWESOME! If they are that good in an alpha build not made by the principle dev team, then how awesome are they going to be in the final game?
@TheZombinja Yeah i have actually, i didn't play a proper mage though cause i didn't want to spoil anything, i just used some spells while playing as an assassin xD From what i've seen in vids though both bladedancers (warriors with some points in finesse for feyblades) and mages r gonna be awesome
The only thing im wondering is how hard the game will be, im still not convinced to buy it or not, since it doesnt mather how much variety u can have in combat if u dont need to do effective combos to survive, the cartoony looks and buttonbashing screams 'easy'.
And the lack of any multiplayer component either co-op or vs, removes any 'competitive' side of progressing your char to really find good builds/combos, especially if the rest of the game is a breeze...
I can't choose on the one side i want the heavy "shit" but on the other side i want elemental rain en meteor and thad stuff but i also love fae blades and some finess weapons so... What can i do?
@TheUSsoldierF Do them all! :D I've been researching Amalur and there's a set of destinies dedicated to those who master all 3 schools (Might, Finesse & Sorcery), and from what I've seen the bonuses you get for being a "Universalist" as they call it are pretty awesome. :3
@ImSorryLMAO yes its good in low levels like under 30 but at the end the damage output its just too low . I critted with tempest 1100 , awesome dmg right? But then i switched to full finesse and did scattershot , critted 1100 again , only i did it from an safe distance and ,with less chanelling time and i could do it 2 times before the mobs came . + no mana cost.
everyone who is comparing this to Skyrim - get a move on. These are two different games and this Kingdoms of Amalur is what we were waitng eagerly for as the successor of Fable TLC.
@0UNTHINKABLE0 Just because a game releases last does not mean it was also made and developed last. This game has been in the works for a very long time, and even traded hands of who's making it and what its intended to be. Just like every RTS isnt Command and Conqure and every Spectacle Fighter isnt God of War.
im going to lvoe this game. i tried the demo, and for the first time in an rpg game i found myself favoring the bow over melee. they did an amazing job with this game from what i saw from the demo
Looks sort of what I imagined Fable 2 was going to be like.
What I GOT was a steaming monstrous pile of shit, with a terminal case of The Sims disease. Also I think there was some kind of story in there, but all I can seem to recall was displaying an alarming prowess to expel bodily gas at will to impress a lesbian butcher and the rest of her herd that had gathered to revel in the marvel of my public bulshittery.
@bennankemusic well the demo is an old build and just a little glitchy but it will be a great game but i dno havent played skyrim but from what i have heard it wont be better than skyrim but nearly in the same league. well the combat is quite satisfying also
@MrBeauJango Skyrim and Amalur are different in fighting style. I like the way you can chain different weapons and attacks in Amalur, but I dislike the auto aim function of the bow. As for skyrim, I love the dynamics of the bow and the combat, although the chaining of attacks is not as varied as Amalur. Both games have their charms and setbacks. Neither game is better than the other in my opinion.
Okay I think what I was saying didn't come across. It's not about how QUICKLY they die, it's absolutely a graphics design problem. When you hit somebody, there's a flash of light and then they pop up into the air. What IS that? It's makes it seem like you're hitting the guy with a rubber mallet, not a steel warhammer.
(Also, charming how everybody started attacking me when that's not even what I meant. Thanks guys.)
The thing I hate about games like this is that when you hit somebody with a huge-ass hammer, they DON'T DIE. Combat mechanics like that are so crappy. That design aesthetic immediately turns me off to a game.
That doesn't make much sense to me either. A 20-30 pound hammer is swung faster than a 10 pound sword? I guess it could KINDA make sense if the start up swing for the hammer is slow, but the actual attack is quick (by using momentum) but looking at gameplay, the greatsword is slow. I suppose that Lord of the Rings combat is completely "wrong" then, huh? :D
I guess it kind of makes sense, all of a hammers weight is at the tip, so once you get it swinging its momentum carries itself whereas a greatsword would require almost the same effort from the first swing to the last (sort of) as the weight carries down all the way to the hilt. Plus, when you look at them in this game, the greatswords look pretty heavier what with the length, width and thickness of their blades (though the hammer heads are pretty intimidating too).
@outtacontrol333 You don't "slow down and start another swing." Instead you hit multiple times with a single swing. The point is not to slow down the movement. If you notice in the video the guy using the hammer doesn't stop and reverse direction, he carries through to hit the enemy multiple times in one fluid motion. The guy with the 2H sword stops after each swing to reverse direction making it much slower.
@SpineRemovalSociety And a sword has less resistance against the air, and just plain has less weight..I believe it was changed though as in the demo greatsword is much much faster then a hammer.
@Bladenavor Agreed, air resistance would be the major factor if both were origami
The hammer has more rotational inertia (assuming both great sword and hammer were made with the same amount of material/paper) meaning that it would be harder to swing at first but subsequent swings would be easier (as long as the direction of the swing remains unchanged) because it would have more momentum.
However this is obviously a balance decision to differentiate the weapons.
@EpicSojourn What do you mean "queue troll"? >_> After some swings yes it would probably be easier to swing, but it would also end up dragging you along, they need to change it to where its slower the first swing, then faster, then faster, yet also causes you to move around a bunch due to its weight, a greatsword would be fairly fast because it is so slim that it has basically no resistance, and yes the greatsword/hammer would be made of the same materials...Iron for example (break)
@Bladenavor (continued) And the weight of swords is actually VERY light, many people think that swords weigh like, 40 pounds...yet actually a big ol' two handed warsword would weigh 4-5 pounds at most, and they did not fully hit on, meaning they did less damage, while a maul (closest thing to the hammers in this game) would hit full force meaning a more damaging hit, though I am having troubles finding the weight of a warhammer/maul due to the game franchise "warhammer" :/ (break)
@EpicSojourn (continued 2) I am guessing that a maul would weigh much more though, as even just a hammer used for construction nowadays would weigh nearly as much as a sword...Sledgehammers, which are very similar to mauls, weigh about 15-20 pounds, as opposed to the sword weight of 5 pounds plus low air resistance for the sword...A sword would indeed swing much much faster while the hammer would require more strength, have momentum, but in the end after a build up (break)
@EpicSojourn (continue 3) of momentum, a maul/warhammer/sledgehammer MIGHT end up being as fast as a sword, but a sword would definitely swing faster, plus since it doesnt weigh as much it would be easier to swing meaning a faster swing....
It's great game though the architecture resembles like fable 3. This is a must have game however right now I just would like to see one freaking action rpg game that's online come out for consoles.
sigh, I'm loosing hope on consoles because I haven't seen a good online rpg game for consoles that is online. F*** DCUO/S*** Knight Chronicles/FF14 if that's what you thinking

SuperchargerFahad 1 month ago
You're all incorrect. Auto aim is great because never again will someone take an arrow to the knee. At least, not in Amalur.

It's not satisfying because it doesn't quite feel like the hits are connecting, from what I've seen anyway.

@bennankemusic na the combat seems quite good but nothing amazing but the demo is aight
MrBeauJango 1 month ago
@MrBeauJango It looks pretty good, yeah. How is it on the 360, do you know?
bennankemusic 1 month ago
@bennankemusic well the demo is an old build and just a little glitchy but it will be a great game but i dno havent played skyrim but from what i have heard it wont be better than skyrim but nearly in the same league. well the combat is quite satisfying also
MrBeauJango 1 month ago
@MrBeauJango Skyrim and Amalur are different in fighting style. I like the way you can chain different weapons and attacks in Amalur, but I dislike the auto aim function of the bow. As for skyrim, I love the dynamics of the bow and the combat, although the chaining of attacks is not as varied as Amalur. Both games have their charms and setbacks. Neither game is better than the other in my opinion.
Diminished5 1 month ago
@Diminished5 true i agree its really lame the auto aim with the bow

Okay I think what I was saying didn't come across. It's not about how QUICKLY they die, it's absolutely a graphics design problem. When you hit somebody, there's a flash of light and then they pop up into the air. What IS that? It's makes it seem like you're hitting the guy with a rubber mallet, not a steel warhammer.
(Also, charming how everybody started attacking me when that's not even what I meant. Thanks guys.)

Makes me think of WoW's graphics on crack.. haha
ValcainHD 1 month ago in playlist A Hero's Guide to Amalur
The thing I hate about games like this is that when you hit somebody with a huge-ass hammer, they DON'T DIE. Combat mechanics like that are so crappy. That design aesthetic immediately turns me off to a game.
bennankemusic 1 month ago in playlist A Hero's Guide to Amalur
@bennankemusic A. You're just afraid of a challenge B. They have armor/thick hides/scales not bare skin okay?

2h sword is slower than the hammer? huh?
Atychiphobe 1 month ago 31
@Atychiphobe Same as in monster hunter.
penalcrack 1 month ago in playlist More videos from ReckoningTheGame
@Atychiphobe
herofromthedark 1 month ago
@Atychiphobe
I guess it kind of makes sense, all of a hammers weight is at the tip, so once you get it swinging its momentum carries itself whereas a greatsword would require almost the same effort from the first swing to the last (sort of) as the weight carries down all the way to the hilt. Plus, when you look at them in this game, the greatswords look pretty heavier what with the length, width and thickness of their blades (though the hammer heads are pretty intimidating too).
noregrets92 1 month ago
@Atychiphobe Hammer has more weight to add to the momentum.
SpineRemovalSociety 1 month ago in playlist A Hero's Guide to Amalur 29
@SpineRemovalSociety so that would mean it is harder to slow down and start another swing...
outtacontrol333 1 month ago
@outtacontrol333 You don't "slow down and start another swing." Instead you hit multiple times with a single swing. The point is not to slow down the movement. If you notice in the video the guy using the hammer doesn't stop and reverse direction, he carries through to hit the enemy multiple times in one fluid motion. The guy with the 2H sword stops after each swing to reverse direction making it much slower.
Szeicheng 1 month ago
@SpineRemovalSociety my dick has more weight.
MrKoolCakes 1 month ago
@SpineRemovalSociety And a sword has less resistance against the air, and just plain has less weight..I believe it was changed though as in the demo greatsword is much much faster then a hammer.
Bladenavor 1 month ago
@Bladenavor Agreed, air resistance would be the major factor if both were origami
The hammer has more rotational inertia (assuming both great sword and hammer were made with the same amount of material/paper) meaning that it would be harder to swing at first but subsequent swings would be easier (as long as the direction of the swing remains unchanged) because it would have more momentum.
However this is obviously a balance decision to differentiate the weapons.
queue troll:
EpicSojourn 1 month ago
@EpicSojourn What do you mean "queue troll"? >_> After some swings yes it would probably be easier to swing, but it would also end up dragging you along, they need to change it to where its slower the first swing, then faster, then faster, yet also causes you to move around a bunch due to its weight, a greatsword would be fairly fast because it is so slim that it has basically no resistance, and yes the greatsword/hammer would be made of the same materials...Iron for example (break)
Bladenavor 1 month ago
@Bladenavor (continued) And the weight of swords is actually VERY light, many people think that swords weigh like, 40 pounds...yet actually a big ol' two handed warsword would weigh 4-5 pounds at most, and they did not fully hit on, meaning they did less damage, while a maul (closest thing to the hammers in this game) would hit full force meaning a more damaging hit, though I am having troubles finding the weight of a warhammer/maul due to the game franchise "warhammer" :/ (break)
Bladenavor 1 month ago
@EpicSojourn (continued 2) I am guessing that a maul would weigh much more though, as even just a hammer used for construction nowadays would weigh nearly as much as a sword...Sledgehammers, which are very similar to mauls, weigh about 15-20 pounds, as opposed to the sword weight of 5 pounds plus low air resistance for the sword...A sword would indeed swing much much faster while the hammer would require more strength, have momentum, but in the end after a build up (break)
Bladenavor 1 month ago
@EpicSojourn (continue 3) of momentum, a maul/warhammer/sledgehammer MIGHT end up being as fast as a sword, but a sword would definitely swing faster, plus since it doesnt weigh as much it would be easier to swing meaning a faster swing....
GET EDUCATED!
