This song is on the CD "Celtic Wonder." I ordered it a few days ago and just got it today. It's a great CD and I would highly recommend buying it. Amazon has it, and I bought a used version for a few bucks. On the front cover is a picture of the ruins of an ancient church.

I love this song and I sing it all the time...but can someone tell me....It sounds as if she is talking about a farmer's daughter that sold her virginty....Is that true? Secondly I think you're getting at the heart of the piece, though I'm not too sure it's specifically about virginity but sex in general. I believe that during the winter, in order to keep her household fed as they were farmers, she would sell herself in the local town. That's why he says he'll buy all her barley, meaning marry her and rescue her from that life.
