I've always loved The Cars but admit to not knowing how many songs Ben sang lead on. I also had no idea how incredibly sexy he was. Godspeed artist man.
How is this band not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame????????
Their live performances are recreated note for note exactly as the album sounds. Great musicianship by all members. Great vocals as well. An incredible oversight by the RRHOF.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thankfully, most people understand that not all musicians play alike. There are so many great drummers from back in the day... John Bonham and Neil Peart in my opinion are the most talented drummers ever. Perhaps you can't put David Robinson up on top of the list with those guys as the best drummer ever... but he sure was damn good and perfect for what the Cars needed. And by the way, I love the occasional open hi hats during this performance!
@RetroRT345 I can fully agree with you on your comment.I always forget his name but the original drummer for Heart, he is totally John Bohnam influenced there is a cool drum solo from him thats on U-Tube thats just unbelievable.Love Stewart Copeland to ov course.I hav never had a problem admitting wen im wrong, and I mite be wrong in saying David Robinson is sloppy.Jus not my favorite drummer.Man people are so quik to jump on some1 jus becauz they dont agree.
Allrite any1 that thinx the drummer isnt sloppy obviously doesnt play the drums.Listen at 0:50-1:00 and tell me if u think hes not a tight drummer.I would like to hear another drummers comment on this. And "mkp823ima lilbich" please stay out ov this
@DARRINCONNOR1 And you've proven what a useless shit-for-brains you are. He's great - END OF STORY ( you're so stupid you can't even spell a simple word like "of")
@DARRINCONNOR1 The Amazing Elliot Easton is the lead guitarist for The Cars. Check out his amazing licks on The Cars video "Tonight She Comes". Elliot Rocks!
@DARRINCONNOR1 Sloppy drummer??? He plays tight on all of their albums and his style was perfect for their unique sound. Before they were The Cars they were called Cap 'N Swing, minus David Robinson and the backbeat sucked big time. They soon brought in Robinson and the sound of the band was drastically different and much better I might add. As far as live goes, just take a look at the show they did in Germany where Robinson was totally hungover and played the show flawlessly. The man rocks!!!
@DARRINCONNOR1 - Ah,now there's a mature, reasoned response. Let's see, you're about 12 years old using Mommie's computer when she's not looking, right? Go away, little twerp.
@mkp823 You respond to my comment, by replying you dont respond to my comment.Wat a fuking dumbass.Gotta go moms callin.Bye lil sissy.Wat, do you sit at your computer waiting for my response. You sure replied awfully quik.No life huh!!! AH HAH LOOzzeerr.
I has this incredible opportunity to be present that day. I was young, but that day has remained in my memory. Today I am one of the biggest fan of Ben Orr. I love him sincerely. He was the best . RIP Benjamin.
@BabsTen Hi Barbara, I wondered if you had been around when this clip was produced. I thought you might have had a Paris tie. You are one blessed lady :-) He was extremely handsome in this clip. The hairstylist in France got to run their fingers through his golden locks.... The Cars an Amazing Band! (Ben is so missed)
@mdwlcx i do, the cars werent some local high school band, they were very successful , they should be presented properly. the french have no idea how to video record a band.
@hifijohn People, this was probably late 70's. Nothing was done professional back then. Get off the French. I actually love this video, because they show them from the back (nice back ends I must say). How can you say anything bad about this video. And did you catch that bass lick from Ben in the beginning. Amazing Hot!
@JesusFreakJene "Nothing was done professional back then". What are you talking about? This is a poorly done video, but TV and film in general were extremely "slick" and expertly done. You weren't there I take it?
@JesusFreakJene Didn't say anything about France (nor did you in your original post). Talking "in general". Also, I didn't say the production was 'better" in '70's, but it wasn't that far removed from what is common today (better computer graphics, etc.), and certainly wasn't the rough quality of the '50's or early '60's.
I've always loved The Cars but admit to not knowing how many songs Ben sang lead on. I also had no idea how incredibly sexy he was. Godspeed artist man.

@mdwlcx It was kind of like The Edgar Winter Group. Dan Hartman was the bass player and the big talent.
