  • one of the coolest simplest basslines EVER.

  • Twin Peaks was a great show and Angelo Badalamenti's music made it even more so. What a haunting melody.

  • Hey YouTube, I wanted the Twin Peaks theme, not a recipe for gravy. But thanks anyway.

  • twin peaks in one of the great show of the 1990's ever !!!! thank you David Lynch

  • Black Coffee with Cherry Pie, Twin Peaks Forever......!

  • this song gives me chills

  • I miss good television.

  • Damn good cup of coffee

  • F you commercial! I will never buy sprint.

  • 0:45 I have visited that waterfall. Snoqualmie falls.

  • Comment removed

  • 8 people are scared of lumber yards and waterfalls

  • @orbasm5 now its nine scaredy cats

  • Personally, I loved every episode. It was always interesting to me. Although it sometimes felt like it was jumping the shark with stupid side plots like Nadine's condition, it still had me interested till the very end.

  • though it fell apart after episode 10 season two, I loved this show, thanks Netflicks lol sounds like I'm pushing that service

  • I was named after Laura Palmer !! I just started to watch the series today and fell in love with them immediately.

  • the series no one understood

  • I know nothing about the show, never saw it and probably could care less, but the title song to the show is hauntingly beautiful and smooth. Can anybody tell me who performed this tune and if its actually called "twin peaks"?

  • @summersbr1 @summersbr1 @summersbr1 Angelo Badalamenti. Opening Theme to Twin Peaks. And you seem very dismissive of this show for someone who has never watched it. I assume you are in your early 20's or a teenager. Do yourself a favor and buy the Gold Box of this show and set aside a definite time each night or every other night and watch one episode per sitting. You will be watching the greatest television show of all-time and fall in love. The show is as amazing as the opening song.

  • @Aetius76, Personally i really dont care to know about the show, it has no relevance for me. But i am a big fan of this song. I heard of the show back in the day yet never watched it and i'm 54 years old. I have bigger love for music than shows or movies, thats just my flavor. I heard this song on a radio station here in Dallas years ago and loved it ever since. By the way, thanks for the invite to purchase the series but i dont see that happening....peace and a long life

  • @summersbr1 Scroll down a bit and look at chief70's comment. See. Now do yourself that favor I said and go online and buy the complete series Gold Box. You can thank me silently while you are watching it. Watch it alone, at night, in your living room or bedroom undisturbed. It's a religious experience.

  • @summersbr1 It's called "Falling" and Julee Cruise (no relation to Tom so far as I know) sang it. The show used an abbreviated instrumental version. Just look for it on YouTube.

  • @dkc4475 Alan Wake is also replicated from Twin Peaks as well......

  • Twin Peaks is the best thing to happen to TV!

  • @EatKanyeWest I agree, wish they would put it back on the sleuth channel...Twin Peaks Twin Peaks!!!!!

  • Amazing show... don't be jealous, but I'm right in the middle of watching this series, and it is AWESOME.

  • *Speaking in an announcer's voice to the tune of theme song* "Tired a bland urban life? Tired of the noise and pollution? Then come on down to Twin Peaks. Peace, quiet, and a heap of unnerving beyond belief "Shit happens" everyday life to keep you occupied. Twin Peaks *Talks backwards at the end of tagline* "ria eht ni cisum si ereht." ^_^

  • Twin peaks is wonderful till the 8 episode of the 2nd season after that is a shit ! They ruined all only to make it more long because of the success, to raise more money, but lossing the story linearity, with idiots invention even to the reveal of the murder is a shit unreal causes, IDIOTS ! THEY RUIN THIS GREAT IDEA !! they take over to a complete mess of unreal things, I'm totally angry with Lynch, damn lynch sell your art to moneymakers, looser! This is an example to how to ruin a great idea!

  • @Mrspraderadego — Precisely. During season 2 the show quickly lost its tightly paced Lynchian creepy-weird suspense and meandered into a goofy soap with a mystery veneer.

  • @Mrspraderadego I understand your frustration but get the real story. Lynch never intended to reveal the killer. He never intended for the show to lose its hinges in the 2nd Season. ABC FORCED LYNCH TO END THE SHOW AND REVEAL THE KILLER since they were canning him and the show. Twin Peaks was so f$#ing brilliant, network execs couldn't understand it. So, they made Lynch wreck it. Be glad someone gave Lynch a chance to put this on in the first place. Greatest show of all-time.

  • @Aetius76 Thanks for the info. Do you have a link detailing all this? I assumed that he had a creative falling out with ABC but never knew all the details.

  • @Aetius76 Without this show the would never be The X Files Cooper and Mulder are two sides of the same coin.

  • Proud to be a Washington-ian lol They always make Seattle and Washington state seem so boring...but this show is different !

  • Jesus! Does everything on YouTube have a commercial now?

YouTube is getting as bad as Hulu.

    Great opening and theme,

  • @Aeolis7 Google "Mozille Adblock"

  • @Aeolis7 commercial? Never saw them. get Adblock, its an application for firefox.

  • I LOVE Twin Peaks ( especially the 1 st season ) The one and only !

  • I just watched the first season of the show. I thought it was filled with bad acting, but the opening music is amazing.

  • @seinormexicano Yes, the music is the best! As for bad acting, well, all these characters in the show are eccentric, obsessive,ok they are wacked, but the actors make you think that this normal. Just let the show get under you skin a little. If you still don't like it thats ok too.....Twin peaks Twin Peaks!!!!

  • Why didn't this show last longer?

  • I don't suppose I'll get attacked from both sides if I say that I like shows from the 90s and nowadays?

  • the brilliant music draws you in to a wierd fantastic and disturbing show, which i doubt we will ever see the like of again.

  • I'm a whole damn town!

  • @hardcalmer i would stop wetting the bed if i were you

  • @wetmeatpoop So we meet again.

  • @hardcalmer i heard you came around here often and troll. i would troll here too ya

  • Wow the most misleading intro ever.

  • @AcrossTheEchoes @charger619c

If you haven't already, you should check out the latest episode of Psych... it's an homage to Twin Peaks, ironically enough. :D

  • Badalamenti's music is amazing, but man, i miss great casting like this. Madchen Amick, Lara Flynn Boyle, Sherilyn Fenn, ... 3 insanely gorgeous women who's appeal are wider than 'page 3' archetypes. Lara before all those hideous surgeries of course.

  • I can't believe I'd forgotten about this show. I loved it! It was dark, twisted, humourous and bizarre. Everything wonderful, including the pies.

  • this pies so good... it is a crime

  • Wait, so why is this on CBS' channel if this was an ABC show?

  • This music still picks up my heart and runs with it like it's a leaf.... So dreamy. What a wonderful show this is!

  • This theme sounds alot like the theme from the movie "The Beach".

  • This show reminds me alot of Lost. There is alot of supernatural stuff going on, and there is always a bunch of curves coming out of no where. And every episode ends with a twist of some sort

  • @greenbay357 I'm a big fan of both shows. The creators of LOST said they took those elements straight from Twin Peaks. :)

  • Loved this show, in part because it had some of the funniest moments I've ever seen on TV - surrealism above and beyond the ridiculous.

  • where is the outro theme? (the song played at the end of each episode)

  • I love the way that the smoke flows so SLOWLY from those chimneys! This is about the trippiest TV show ever, not to mention the sexy cast. Sherilyn Fenn....mmmmmmmm.

  • Words can't begin to describe Twin Peaks. There is nothing else on earth as powerful and moving. This is truly something everybody should see.

  • A Trip Down Memory Lane...

  • You know something good is coming when that bird shows up at first

  • This is so perfect. -thanks for posting it.

  • if you loved this show so much ...check us out on face book ...1 million fans for a twin peaks season 3!!!! we are determined to bring this show back

  • This is shorter than the original!

  • This just fills me with haippness...

  • What a wonderful TV show! Such weird, bittersweet feelings... Thank you for this upload.

    :)

  • Interesting that David Lynch and Jack Nance are (were) still working together. They were also working together on Eraserhead. Too bad Jack is dead now.

  • Haunting tune, captivating series, shit ending!

  • Nothing beats this opening music ever. Badalamenti is pure genius. As is Lynch.

  • Funny, how I just turned 40 and in the 80s, I had heard of this show many times, but never got to watch it!! Now for the first time, I am seeing the intro to this series! I guess there were too many shows to watch in the 80s and one couldn't possibly watch every one of them!! :)

  • Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy on acid.

  • BRILLIANT simple as that

  • what song is this? this isnt an original composition, isnt there a song by the fifth dimension that has the exact same beat, ugh whats the name of the song, something and lethem

  • @Gjuni619 this is original, but it's been sampled a lot. if fifth dimension played after '89, it was probably a sample :P

  • @cecisota12

naw G fifth demension are from the sixties they sang that one aquarious song

  • @Gjuni619 ohhh right! haha i used to love those guys, can't believe i forgot when they're from XD

haha thanks man, gotta listen to those guys again!

  • Ahh, great theme. Slightly uplifting surface, dark undercurrent... <3

  • This was filmed in North Bend, WA, about 15 miles from Redmond (where I live). The falls are Snoqualmie Falls. I love the city! It is really nice, and Twede's Cafe is still there.

  • what amazing music, when at the ICA in London I went to symposium and the designer of the series was there also one of the producers showed up, they showed the first two episodes plus one that hadnt been eleased, i asked the inevitable wustion and got told.........................it was the father who killed her, well done Mr Lych yet again lol

  • non ci sono parole x descrivere TWIN PEAKS

  • "Be kind, because everyone you meet is in a hard battle" - Plato

  • The Log Lady was just the funniest in that show. They must've ROFL'd a few times doing scene takes. It's 20 years ago too, scary how time flies :0

  • THE OWLS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM

  • WOOOOOOW!!!!

  • I absolutely adore this series. It puts you into a really special state of mind.

  • Childhood memories. I adore this.

  • i would rather watch the opening credits of this show that was on 20 years ago than 99 percent of the garbage that is insultingly called tv today.

  • @charger619c Dude, like, dude. You need to check out the like, opening to Jersey Shore. It's like, so rad bro, way better than this

  • @BlackOut0189 but yeah dude this dude was before they could say dude every other word dude - it was rad then dude

  • bass reminds me of left 4 dead music

  • david lynch is a king

  • Please could anyone till me if this is true or false? Someone said that Song to the Siren (This Mortal Coil's version) was the inspiration to david lynch for twin peaks.

  • orgasmic

  • this show inspired the creation of the X-Files :)

Special Agent Cooper... a predecessor to Special Agent Mulder

  • That music still gives me chills... I wish I could afford the box set ;(

  • This is part of the soundtrack to my teen years. Love the show.

  • @charger619c The world continues to be such a fucked up place, because we continue to pay more for marketing and package than for the product itself.

  • @charger619c You are looking in the wrong places.

  • @charger619c You must be living under a rock. Breaking Bad is still on, and it's one of the greatest shows yet. There's five seasons of The Wire, which is possibly the best show ever created. Battlestar Galactica. The Sopranos. Carnivale (must watch for any Twin Peaks fan).

  • @thefucingchamp IMO Twin Peaks just barely beats out the wire... but I agree that Carnivale is amazing.

  • @charger619c There's still good shows. You just have to be willing to try them out: Fringe, Psych, and Eureka, to name a few. =)

  • @AcrossTheEchoes Dexter, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Burn Notice

  • @charger619c Theres still a few good shows out there. House comes to mind.

  • @charger619c Conversely, the 90's had America's Funniest Home Videos, Baywatch and Full House and now we have Mad Men, Dexter, 30 Rock and Breaking Bad.

  • @oancitizen You're right. those shows are all terrible.

  • @charger619c So is there any current T.V. show you like, or are you going to act like one of those kids screaming in the middle of a restaurant about how they refuse to eat anything but Kraft Macaroni & Cheese?

"Wahhhhh, I want the 90's back! Wahhhhh!"

  • @oancitizen Don't forget about old 90210, Friends, Fraisier and Saindfeld. :)

  • @oancitizen Junk then, junk now. Twin Peaks destroys all of them.

  • @charger619c To be fair, we've had the wire..

  • @charger619c Don't forget COP SHOWS everywhere.

  • Ive never met a David Lynch fan I havent liked.

  • acojonable music !!!

  • I always expected to see a dead body floating up in that muddy water for some reason .Maybee it was since I lived in an area that flooded a lot and people would drown so the adults would warn us to stay away from the river .

  • Just beautiful and hypnotic. A+!

  • i can watch the series and movie again, again, and again....i just love it. Angelo Badalamenti writes beautiful music....

  • @FabGirlJulia It's just possible that as the years have rolled by this has become my favourite TV theme music. So what would be your top 10 pieces of theme music from main networked TV shows??

  • @Brooksider100 I have Soundtrack CD with 11 theme music-they all are my favs! I would choose 4 for e.g....

    1. Falling

    2. Laura Palmer's

    3. Dance of the Dream Man

    4. The Bookhouse Boys

There are also nice music from Fire Walk with me!

  • @FabGirlJulia

I myself try not to over-view the series, although I actually would want to watch it every night. I find Twin Peaks to be extremely special, the most special thing I've ever seen. Therefore I try to watch it like only once in a year (preferably winter because it's a darker period of time), so that I really yearn for it.

  • @davidvdb20 agree, I also save it for a special time, in order not to kill the vibe, but the series and movie have this power to regain the interest, no matter how many times u watch it...at least for me

  • watched this show when i was 8 years old, usually it aired late at night. so it scared the crap out of me sometimes, but it was good show...but song remains forever

  • I was 16 when the show started, our french club basically talked about this show every week, trying to figure out who killed Laura. Kinda like Lost now. The movie "Fire walk with me" kinda closed the story, but I still wonder how different the story would have been had it not been canceled. Also the soundtrack was the first CD of mine my mom liked. She bought me a new one so she could keep the one I let her listen to.

  • great serie of the eighties, i never understood the plot but i loved the leading actress, and the music is beautiful

  • It was great show - almost as good as The X Files. Audrey (Sherilyn Fenn) was my favorite character and of course the most beautiful female of Twin Peaks.

  • Such a classic. :D

  • This is the opening from Season 2.

  • oh damn.. this brought back so many memories...

  • does anyone know who plays that song? sound like "this mortal coil"

  • the music is from Angelo Badalamenti. Incredible song!

  • angelo badalamenti wrote it with lynch because they didnt get the copyrights for "This mortal coil"

  • loved this show

  • I was 3 years olt when it was shown in my country. ;)

    Wish to see the movie.....

  • This is the best Opening Credit sequence for the show, I particularly love the way the title is promptly displayed over a shot of the twin peaks.

  • 1990 i was 10 years old when it was shoy in my country.

  • I crave you Agent Cooper...Going to lay down for the evening. the change in the Mountains. It is not to long till we will see snow..

  • We're going to see David Lynch at Maharishi University in Iowa tomorrow- so I wanted to take one last look at this beautiful opening credits sequence to put me in the mood :)

  • indeed

you may also want to hear the song Faith by The Cure

the weirdest cameo ever or what

    j

  • Amazing theme and quite wierd movie actually. Well, it is Lynch style.

  • listen to the song by The Cure - The Funeral Party vs. -1981. Twin Peaks 1990 .. I think it is a copy of the Italian ..

  • grande melodia del compositore Badalamenti..

  • I used to play at Snoqualmie Falls all the time as a kid, long before I saw Twin Peaks. How surreal to find my playground was the site of a truly wonderful show.

  • Great music!!!!!...Very very beautiful!!!! Great, really scary and mysterious film!...

  • wonderful music and a scary, thrilling storyline

  • I'm glad they only did 2 seasons. A lot of shows suck when they keep making seasons. I really liked the first season much more than the second. So don't pray for another one, the show is sublime just as it is :).

  • I do agree with you that the first season was way better than the second season. I just wish they haven't ended the show that way. I mean Agent Cooper! He was like my first crush ever!

  • I agree, first season was much better. the plot was better, and like wtf happened to James? and Audrey and Cooper didnt get together... that really pissed me off. LOL Kyle Maclachlan was my first celebrity crush, i watched it when i was 12... i dont know, i thought he was really nice looking.

  • The synthesizer simply adds to the atmosphere. It's an instrument just as much as let's say an electric guitar. You can create an emotion with it no other instrument can fulfill. Meaning: this theme wouldn't be the same beauty without it. IMO.

  • Yes it does... except like any other instrument you can fuck it all up, and IMO (!) they do.

As tropers say, Your Mileage May Vary, and mine definitely varies. Let's not flame YouTube about it and just agree to disagree.

  • Still the best show ever! No other series was, is and will be like it.

Loved it since the first broadcast and now have seen it few times through the years on repeats, and I own it on dvd too.

  • I used to watch it at about 9/10? with the family, and we'd guess who killed Laura.

  • @San8812 You forgot to mention LOST. It's ok, I forgive you. :)

  • @ghostgate82

    Oh, yes. My mistake:)

  • @ghostgate82 lost sucks and isnt anywhere near comparible to any of those other shows

  • @cryjesuscry According to you...don't forget that. We'll let history be the judge. If anything, LOST makes people THINK. About their own lives, about faith, about science, about relationships, about life after death, about many things. If you think that sucks, then I feel sorry for you. We are all entitled to our non objective opinions though. Just don't get confused and think objective and subjective are the same things. Thanks.

  • @ghostgate82 shitty writing, stupid cliched characters, retarded outcome to the story. the only people excited about that show are the blandest of the bland milquetoast psuedo intellectual white faggot idiots who probably ejaculate with equal vigor to whatever shitty apple product is currently sticking its dick out to be sucked

if you think that show was anywhere near twin peaks your taste is terrible and you don't have permission to watch anything interesting ever again

  • @cryjesuscry Are you done with your mental masturbation now? I hate Apple and don't own an iPod or iEtc. I love both Twin Peaks and LOST. You obviously can't be too mature if you can't keep from having "dicks", "faggot", "white", "ejaculate", and above all else, "vigor" in your comment. And if LOST has cliched characters, please elaborate on what work they copied from? Keep in mind, NO work is 100% original. To see someone get so mad over an opinion about a TV show demonstrates you're a child.

  • @ghostgate82 lost is shitty and bland and boring and if you like it you are shitty bland and boring this is fact, irrefutable and I win sir thanks for trying

  • @cryjesuscry Hmm...you do know what "fact" means right? According to you it means the fucked up opinion of a crybaby douchebag who hates everyone who doesn't live in a bubble like him. If that's what fact means, then sure, you're right. However, here in the real world where people exist OUTSIDE of retard bubbles, FACT means something completely opposite to your understanding. By the way, the only thing you "win" at is the most pathetic comebacks competition. Claim your reward....sir.

  • @ghostgate82 you are obsessed with a television show and I am the one who is in a bubble

  • @cryjesuscry I'm not obsessed, I'm annoyed by people who get confused between objectivity and subjectivity.

  • It's a shame the series lasted only 2 seasons,it was a very, bizarre, dramatic, funny, and serious show, but it ended with too many unsolved mysteries especially what happens to Agent Cooper seeing himself in the mirror and it's Killer Bob's face!

  • Love Madchen Amick. I saw her in Sleepwalkers and that was it. Though I never really understood, how someone, so incredibly beautiful, never made it as a movie star. A woman that beautiful, should have become a huge movie star, a long time ago. She could've easily beaten Cameron Diaz. Maybe things work differently in America. If she had come to my country, she would have become the biggest movie star of all time.

  • Agree! Madchen was the most adorable star on the show. I loved her troubled character plus her expressive face!

  • Beautiful theme music. The visuals are beautiful too. Though the font strikes a jarring note. I have never seen it but seems like a good show.

  • I saw someplace that the actor who played Bob died shortly after the film theres no show without Bob.

  • OMG!! We have a show for little kids in Holland with puppets and there is someone... He looks like a murder in this is show (FOR LITTLE KIDS!!! OMG)

  • BRING IT BACK IT'S NOT TOO LATE

  • It sounds a lot like Memory Motel by Rolling Stones!

  • The show was one of the kind. Haunting music.

  • I'm sorry, but what the hell is going on with that font? Hideousness incarnate!

  • Agreed, but I think those sorts of effects were popular in the early 90s.

  • iv only just herd this
