  • 100 cars all i can say is wow, wish i could have seen more of the layout

  • This is cool. Although a bit strange. A Big Boy hauling European cars.

  • haha dude! that little son-of-a-bitch is strong! just like the real thing! very impressive!

  • like this if u sat there and counted all the cars :)

  • Is the sound produced by the engine? beautiful!

  • world's most ugliest steam engine ever

  • big boy pulling to what it looks like "a thousand cars"

  • My little N-guage steam yard switcher would have trouble with ten cars let alone 100!

  • PUFF PUFFPUFF PUFF PUFFPUFF PUFF PUFF SWEET HO SET

  • How much was that ALTOGETHER

  • @Retuvio

    Both.

C-tracks makes good electrical connections - and they are easy to work with.

K-tracks are more beautiful, and more flexible.

  • What do you perfer, C or K tracks?

  • what long!

  • what long

  • I wish I had the Big Boy! It's so hard to get...

I collect Marklin digital HO. I control my trains with the 60652 Mobile Station.

I'll be getting the 60214 Central Station 2 this year, as well as many other trains. I hope that the Big Boy is one of them!

  • 15 meters of cars and no caboose?

  • H0 - 1:87

  • what scale is this in ?

  • @Peppurr1:

Actually ... the cars are Danish. Even more exotic. ;-)

  • lol a big boy pulling UK cars this is interesting. Do u have any american cars? with knuckle couplers? it probably might be those hook couplers if thats what ur using.

  • Great video ! Now I can't wait to get my Lionel Big Boy #4011 !! keep up the great work !

  • lol but thats with english cars, it could pull 200 american cars if it can do that

  • @ onilink1223:

I was using Märklins CentralStation 1 at the time of the recording. My BigBoy uses the old Motorola-format from Märklin.

  • are you using dcc or is it just a nornal controller???

  • i am plaining on eventuly buying the big boy

  • if i was into steam i would look into one of these but i prfer diesel. thats cool that itll pull that much.howthe first few cars not tip over

  • HOW DOES IT PULL ALL THAT?? O_o

  • @crazyracer12

Strooooooong reliable German perfectionism ... unstoppable. ;-)

The Big Boy was not even stressed, didn't slip or anything. It behaved just as it does with a couple of cars on.

The reason I had to run it dead slow was that the weight of the cars would pull the train (not the locomotive) over the curves.

Someday, I'll make a new test on a track layed on a floor, where I can get large curves and straight lines. I guess the Big Boy will pull 200 or 300 cars without problems.

  • @olsenmm

    Also weighs about 5lbs

  • I'm a train collector also and I must say that this is unbelievably awesome. I need to get me a big boy!

  • very cool

  • ha ha....nice

  • THAT must be heavy to pull

  • Wow! Nice engine!

  • Thanks for all your nice comments!

  • wooooow!

  • holy crap how long have you been collectiong trains

  • Since 2003 ... just went a bit crazy.

  • Damm its looks good

  • Comment removed

  • Määääääääää

  • how much is the big boy?

  • too much for this shit

  • The power of Marklin.... or it is the pullpower of the trail -.-

  • Very Impressive.

  • KUDOS TO THE COUPLERS

  • anyone know a good wat to make water? i cant remember what the water stuff is called

  • how much did the big boy cost?

  • I paid around $ 1000

  • @olsenmm fuck

  • that is awsome

  • Hey I have a marklin too. I have only 20 cars, but it's nice to know it can pull that many!! WOW!! check out mine: "model trains big boy 4015 & challengers" be sure to comment!!

  • i counted only 90 but I think i might be wrong.

  • The Big Boy was over shadowed by the Yellowstones for raw power. The later could pull 180 iron ore cars. It developed almost 5,000 pound of tractive force over the Big Boy. A few were equiped with boosters raising the power to 18,000 pounds of tractive effort over the Big Boy.

  • Lol. Vey nice indeed. What is the weight of the locomotive.

  • Big Boy weighs around 1.2 kilograms. :-)

  • derailment because a such long train needs very large warps .

  • I'd hate to be at the crossing when this "mother" rolled through!!!!

  • marklin is the best!!!!

  • WO THAT IS LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG

  • What scale is that? I was wondering how many cars the real one would pull. I have read that it could pull a train over 5 miles long. Calculations tell me thats over 300 cars.Empty or not, that is unmatched. I absolutly love that locomotive. Can anyone answer this?

  • It's H0 :) and looks really nice

  • its probably HO scale, and your right the big boy could pull a mile and a half of cars. it is a magnifisent train isnt it.

  • I'm suprised the train didn't collapse on itself. That's definitely impressive.

  • Oh ya- and the first 3 engines are USA trains Big Boys! The largest and heaviest mass produced model engine in the world! It costs 4 thousand US dollars, weighs over 75 lbs, is 3 feet long and needs a 12 foot radius track to operate on! USA trains also GAVE us their FIRST PRODUCTION MODEL! The FIRST one to roll of the asembely line! Its worth probably 12 thousand US dollars! Only one little thing- we broke it :) On one of the record attempt runs the drive rods fell off in the tunnel!

  • If you want to see what a big train and a Big Boy should look like you need to come down to Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. Thats where the worlds largest garden railroad is located. It doesn't have the most track (its in the top 5) but its got the longest mainline and sits on the most land-2 acres. It is so big that our yard has more track then the average garden railroad!W are doing the longest model train there- it is over 1,200 feet long, consists of over 550 cars and is over 7 scale miles long!

  • that really sucks that it broke

  • It also suck that it weighs 75 lbs. Bringing back to the barn sucks.

  • Anyways- how heavy are your cars?! Why doesnt the train just tople over?

  • I had to arrange my long heavy cars first. Those are mostly Märklin and are quite heavy. Next time I'll try something like this, I'll get some kind of scale to measure the pull from the cars.

  • nice its marklin

  • Do u ever need a helper while going uphill even just once?

  • The Big Boy managed the task without any help.

  • wooow many trailers Oo^^

    expensive??^^

  • nice footage , dude . 100 cars !! is it posseble for a marklin to pull even longer trains ??

  • Using bigger circles R4 or R5 and no inclines - absolutely. The Big Boy didn't bother at all - the problem was avoiding derailments of the cars - and keeping the couplers in the NEM-shafts.

    Best regards

    olsenmm

  • i love the bigboy who made it why are there foreign freight cars

  • This is a Märklin Big Boy. The foreign freight cars are mostly Danish, since I live in Denmark. I don't run US on my model rail road ... just wanted the gigantic BigBoy. :-)

Usually it is on display in a shelf, but now and then I let it stretch its wheels.

    Best regards

    olsenmm
